One small sign of hope for folks (at least small biz owners) in KC is that today marked a rare occasion when Chuck Eddy's enormous appetite (for credibility among the anti-smoking Nazi's in this instance) was curtailed.
The smoking ban that the KCMO City Council voted on today FAILED.
One of the reasons for the failure was reportedly a number of small business people calling their local council person and voicing their disapproval of the measure.
Personally, I thought it was a tad shady that the ban didn't include the Casino floors given that I wasn't aware of any recently discovered health benefits to smoking while gambling away your retirement money or your kid's college fund. Actually, the exclusion of the casinos in the smoking ban really just spelled out for everyone that big money excludes you from having to comply with city ordinances or give a damn about the dumb/addicted people your robbing.
While I'm not a big fan of lung tumors I believe that Chuck Eddy's hypocrisy is nearly as unsavory. Personally, I'd like a smoke free environment as well a City Council that is free from Eddy who wants to help save your life in one breath and then destroy your home in the next.
