Here's a charming post from my favorite Irish blogger. The title alone dictates that it earns a link on this page:
A Kansas City Phone Call To An Irish Mother
Check out the post to read a transcript of the conversation. There are a lot of sentiments that go across cultures so I enjoyed it thoroughly and I think I might have even detected a bit of Catholic guilt depending which part of Ireland the guy is from . .. It almost read like a conversation with my mom, only less swearing, Spanish and references to murder.
Catholic guilt? Guilty. And I love it. Guilt gets a bad rap.
ReplyDeleteI had a teacher in school back in the nineteenth century who told us all to stop going to him complaining about getting punished for things we didn't do, because of all the times we did do it and got away with it.
And thus a lifestyle was born.
