Local soccer bloggers are out in full force in order to support the pricey TIF that Mayor Funky flip-flopped on . . . A local blogger has recently posted the full TIF plan for the 3 Trails Development on his blog.
My favorite soccer blog Down the Byline notes that the entire stadium cost will be “only” $46 million.
Normally, this wouldn’t be such a bad thing if we weren’t talking about a team with one one of THE WORST ATTENDANCE RANKINGS IN ALL OF MAJOR LEAGUE (HEH) SOCCER.
Sadly, if Kansas City hasn’t adopted a significant fan base for this semi-sport in the past 20 years since it has been pushed on high school dorks too the ghey to play a real sport . . . It’s simply not going to catch on anymore than it already has . . . Already, part of the “promotion” of this activity is to simply get people drunk and drop them off at the stadium.
Again, not a bad idea . . . I only hope they have enough booze to make unsuspecting soccer fans leave behind $40 million for a completely impractical idea.

Did you even read the guys blog or the TIF info you linked? It gives a huge break down, including the team’s average attendance, and the modest growth (11K to 13.5K) expected by building the stadium. The 1.25 million people that the fields and stadium alone would bring to the area, are 1.24 million more people then what the area is getting out there right now.

It’s funny that you make fun of the team, when the two soccer teams in this town, the Wizards and the Kings, are the ONLY teams in KC to have won a playoff game in over a decade (the Wizards won their series against Chivas last year, and the Kings made the quarterfinals of the PASL).

Dude, you’ve got to get off this horse. The vast majority of the fans for the Whizz are Mexicant’s. If ICE wanted to be more effective they would raid one of the games. Bang, about 1000 less illegals.
