With message for freedom, jazz beat heard around the world - UNESCO

Observed annually on 30 April, the International Day honours the enduring legacy of this musical genre and its power to bring people together. UNESCO Director General Audrey Azoulay said the message for freedom "is rooted at the very core " of jazz music, which is defined by improvisation.

  3. Jazz is not appealing as most people find it confusing and nerve wracking.

  9. Music is the one thing that will always change but will always some fans far into the future
Jazz may not be as popular as it was in its heyday, but it will always around for some
The problem is trying to force it on a new generation and being disappointed by the indifference of people who have found a different sound
Just let the music be rediscovered in a normal way
After all, you don’t see any push to bring back Gregorian chants, do you?

BUT , BUT, BUT, back in the 1990's Former Mayor Emmanuel clever and other KCMO City council members told everybody that people from all over the WORLD would be lining up to come to the $100 Million Dollar Jazz Museum, from as far away as JAPAN they said,,,, ??????

KCMO corrupt & fraudulent city officials are so full of themselves its pathetic as they continue to screw KCMO citizens out more money thru Deceptive rhetoric and LIES !!!

  11. There is nothing "sacred" about Jazz, except in KCMO where it is praised and revered. If Jazz is so popular, we should have no trouble keeping the 18th & Vine district humming with visitors and LOCALS. Where is the Black community support? Let's see some folks come out each and every weekend to keep the sacred music alive in KC.

  12. I think that if I didn't have anything else to do all day but complain about jazz, I might take a real long look at myself and wonder what went so horribly, horribly wrong!

  15. Jazz is not dead. The Jazz museum is dead. Try to get a table on a Friday or Saturday at the Green Lady Lounge or Black Dolphin. You'll barely have room to stand.
