TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY GRASSROOTS EAST SIDE COMMUNITY EFFORT TO RENAME THE PASEO TO HONOR MLK REJECTED BY PARKS BOARD!!!

The growing movement to rename The Paseo after MLK has encountered a major setback according to insiders who want a central Kansas City thoroughfare dedicated to the memory of the American icon.

First, a reminder to some of our more strident Conservative commenters that MLK also holds a place in the heart of the current right-wing honcho . . .

Here's an important statement spoken during the signing of a proclamation honoring MLK this year: "We celebrate Dr. King for standing up for the self-evident truth Americans hold so dear, that no matter the color of our skin, or the place of our birth we are all created equal by God," said President Trump.

Similarly and given the praise for the slain civil rights leader shared by all mainstream politicos, here's a public note from 3rd District leader, former State Rep and member of Council Sharon Sanders Brooks:

Kansas City, Missouri Residents/Taxpayers/VOTERS ALERT--

The KCMO Parks and Recreation Dept. Board of Commissioners have notified the SCLC Kansas City, Missouri Chapter in a letter that the Parks Board DOES NOT SUPPORT the renaming of Paseo Blvd to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd! You read that correctly on the 50th Anniversary of his Death - KCMO Parks Board says NO .

KCMO Park Board Commissioners are voluntary political appointees selected by the Mayor of Kansas City, Missouri. 816-513-3500 is the number for the Mayor's Office.

  3. I remember that Jermaine was slapped around by his own people when he wanted to do a name change on Prospect.

I think something in the 18th & vine district would be more useful to help promote tourism. or future business.

Forget all of the political flexing and just get it done quickly.

  4. Or Richard B. Spencer Blvd., he's an important figure deserving of recognition.

  5. Probably due to the protests by the King Family. I don’t blame them it’s a dump. Now it should be renamed Cleaver Boulevard. Since he’s done so much over there.

  6. Richard B. Spencer Blvd., definitely.

  7. 10:08 actually makes a good point. If you name a street MLK then you are asking for a lot of licensing deals with the King family. Way too much hassle. If they want to honor him, pay for the permits and build him a memorial, building or library. Don't make the rest of the city do it.

  8. Martin Luther King Jr., a fraud and degenerate in his life, has become the symbol and cynosure of White Dispossession and the deconstruction of Occidental civilization.

    We must overcome!

I'd have to go along with changing
    "47th Street/Emmanuel Cleaver II Blvd./47th Street/Emmanuel Cleaver II Blvd./47th Street/Blue Parkway/47th Street"
    to
    "47th Street/Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue/Emmanuel Cleaver II Blvd./Carol Coe Causeway/Sylvester James Sewer/Frank White Freeway/47th Street/Blue Parkway/47th Street",
if they want to do that.

  21. Homicides out of control.
The vast majority of which are black-on-black and within a 60-block area of KCMO.
And these grifters, who actually make believe they represent the best interests of the community, are focused on renaming a street?
Just another step on the march to self-destruction.

  22. I've said this before: rename Benton Blvd or College Ave to MLK. That way anyone unfamiliar with the area will know they are on the worst street in town and to get the hell out of there.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Why not rename it Jean Petersucker Baker Avenue. She has done more to keep black people our of prison that any faggot civil rights activist ever did.

  24. ^^^^Good point

  25. Why don't we name it Depends Way? Because only pants-shitters care about this.

  26. HOLIDAY NAZI says, "No street for you.....and no soup either!"

When KCMO elects a black Mayor who's married to a black woman, we can revisit the issue of renaming streets.

  27. 1. MLK was not from Kansas City
    2. Each time there is a crime along Paseo, MLKs name will be dishonored in the news coverage.
    3. The cost to change signs is a waste in a broke city.
To many it will always be The Paseo Bridge, The Broadway Bridge, and Sandstone. Leave the names alone.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I think naming it after Richard B. Sherman is a great idea. ONCE AGAIN TKC READERS COME THROUGH!!!
