TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! CONSERVATIVE KCMO RADIO TERMINATES TALKERS GREGG KNAPP AND TOM BECKA!!!
Hard times in the Kansas City media game continue with the downfall of two media titans today.
According to one of the most KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS . . .
"Tom Becka and Greg Knapp were let go today. KCMO does it again."
This insider comment speaks to the rotating cast of characters on the struggling Conservative talk outlet that hasn't really found a new strategy to cope with a world dominated by social media.
Background . . .
Greg Knapp is a hardline GOP dude but he's always had an open mind and wide diversity of local guests. His show seemed to be gaining ground among Conservatives in the KC metro wanting a more "news-centric" perspective.
Tom Becka is an all-time Kansas City favorite . . . A warm on-air personality, always funny insights and he even had a laugh when TKC declared war on the guy when he first started this gig.
Conclusion . . .
THE DAYS OF KANSAS CITY CONSERVATIVE RADIO HEGEMONY ARE FINISHED AND AS OLDEST MASS MEDIA STRUGGLES FINANCIALLY!!!
We can connect these terminations to economic grief from corporate owner Cumulus and pending bankruptcy for a litany of "local" stations.
Developing . . .
Too bad.
ReplyDeleteReally liked Gregg's show. You are correct. A lot more news coming from him than other blathering morning shows.
KC's loss again.
Friday firing are the worst. No class. Such an old tactic. Too bad.
DeleteListened to Gregg over whatever the hell kind of rebranding that KMBZ keeps on doing. The radio people are desperate. No doubt about it.
DeleteLub media taking over.
ReplyDeleteGood riddance.
ReplyDeleteGood riddance, GOP cock-sucking pedophiles. America is sick of your constant lies and bullshit.
ReplyDelete"hardline GOP dude but he's always had an open mind"
ReplyDeleteIsn't that a contradiction? Hardliner with open mind?
Most of the pedophiles in the news are Demoncrats.
ReplyDeleteThis is the fault of too many radio station in Kansas City and not enough advertising dollars to support them all.
ReplyDelete^^^ Truth. Times have changed, time to adapt.
ReplyDeleteBring back Savage Nation
ReplyDeleteBoycotts against racist talk shows that defend sexual assault and excuse child molesters have taken their toll.
ReplyDeleteNo advertisers, no revenue, hello bankruptcy.
Whew at least it's not Scott and Dana.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to public broadcasting boys!
ReplyDeleteKCMO suffers from horrible management. The "talkers" have always been pretty good but executives managing the station have consistently shown bad judgement and a lack of ability to capitalize on their ratings.
ReplyDeleteGreg was good Becka was awful, bad voice and shuddering.
ReplyDeleteAgree 100%
DeleteThey need to dump Phil Valentine in the afternoon drive slot. All he does is babble endlessly about his family. I have to find a new station to listen to now while driving to and from work.
ReplyDeleteCumulus needs to realize you can't make money if you don't invest it. NO ONE is going to rediscover and old a.m. signal and a terrible fm signal. There is no effort to promote the station, and the cluster and company don't care about it whatsoever.
ReplyDeleteCumulus also fired longtime KC jock Dick Wilson from the morning drive on 94.9 KCMO. Looks like they are trying to cut salary wherever they can by firing whoever they can.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure they've wanted to jettison Dick Wilson for a while. He's an older dude, and I know they think he makes too much money. It's not cool as the station is literally #2 in the market. Your ratings performance doesn't matter any more. All that matters is the bottom line. They want to do everything on the cheap. Music radio is nothing more than a pandora channel cluttered with long commercial sets, mindless music jocks and national contests you have no chance of winning. The big media companies really f*cked radio up.

Becka was great way back in the day when he was on KMBZ. Talked about local and national issues, had tons of regular callers, "Butthead of the Week", etc.
ReplyDeleteNothing close now compared to what he once was. No surprise they canned him.
Who?
ReplyDeleteI'm going to miss Greg Knapp. I started waking up early to listen to his show. KC talk radio used to be so good. Now every show wants to be a comedy show.
