TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY ROBO CALL QUESTIONNAIRE REVEALS $800 MILLION CITY HALL BOND ISSUE SLUSH FUND TRIPLE THREAT!!!

Amid higher crime, cold weather infrastructure FAIL, rising interest rates and the prospect of continued harsh economic times . . . Our blog community puts us on notice as an EPIC bond issue ask now evolves into an upcoming election campaign.

To wit . . .

CHECK ROBOCALL REVELATIONS REVEALING TRIPLE THREAT TACTICS FOR AN $800 MILLION KANSAS CITY BOND ISSUE SLUSH FUND!!!

Here's the word and a peek at the campaign confronting taxpayers:

Got survey tonight asking about April bond election.

New strategy:

3 ballot questions possible all for 20 years:

1. $600 million - roads, bridges, sidewalks, etc.

2. $150 million - flood control

3. $50 million - animal shelter, public buildings

All of these initiatives are great ideas but NONE of them are guaranteed or promised in the Ordinance Fact Sheet or in the unseen ballot language that reads more like a blank check . . .

Better yet, here's a bit of insight from a KICK-ASS INSIDER who knows this issue better than anyone else . . .

"This ballot issue is as cold as THIS morning. They know they are in trouble. The animal shelter people are threatening to start a petition to get their issue on the ballot. The water department has $100 million in shovel ready projects that have to be done. Their is NO leadership at City Hall. That is what the Greater KC Chamber of Commerce, Civic Council and lawyer mob get for rigging the last mayoral election. The Mayor has no mandate other than to keep the so-called economic development gravy train going (i.e. downtown hotel). Don't blame the City Manager, he has to go out and try to sell the crap (the most polite word I could come up with) that Mayor and city council order him to do.

They haven't devised a real plan in the past 2 months and they have been having council meetings trying find out how to con the voters one more time. Asking for 20 year tax increase is stupid. Project list by resolution? They might as well write it on toilet paper. Promising new sidewalks to everyone, they are not changing city charter first. They are so broke they can't fix what is now broken or in disrepair and asking citizens to add to the $6 billion to do list. Is what _______. (You fill-in the word).

"Most citizens think the Mayor and City Council, newly awarded the proceeds of the bond issue, would be like someone who had won the lottery. They would go through that $800 million in 5 years not 20 years. They only know tax and spend. And don't get me started about the other issue the 1 cent sales tax for capital improvements, they have not even discussed this in committee meetings."

You decide . . .

  3. EXCELLENT Posting!

Readers love the facts, and increasingly you must come to TKC to find the facts from the citizen journalist strike force. The corporate media in town too often play the role of City Hall shill/cheerleader, totally abdicating their responsibility to the public.

I think you little people must keep in mind that what is good for the Kemper banks, J. E. Dunn Construction, Burns and McDonnell, Black and Veatch, HTNB and the other assorted law firms, construction and engineering contractors, consultants and financial people is good for Kansas City. You little people seem to not see the big picture.

    1. Good morning City Hall! Glad to see you've mastered the use of the caps lock button. Next stop, complete and rational thought. May be a bit difficult for you. :)

    2. You bitch about the lack of infrastructure and then when a plan shows up you bitch about that, too?

So in fact 10:51 has spotted The TKC Crybaby Syndrome.

It's not hard to hear. It's a siren of whining.

    3. Ah! City Hall returns to enlighten us with a softer approach. No, you're wrong as usual. What's hilarious is that you still think you have any credibility with voters. Maybe there are justified complaints about millions spent on boutique projects with no revenue stream? That lose money despite promises? That fail, and then are massively subsidized to continue failing?

So yes, concerned about infrastructure, the spiraling crime, and so on. As well as anything else coming out of City Hall's Grift-o-Matic. :)

  8. I would suggest you go online and watch the council meeting. Then if you want to make comments at least you will have the facts.

  10. @10:51

The issue isn't that anyone has an issue fixing infrastructure. The issue is that we have a bunch of officials that have proven to be untrustworthy with our money that are giving zero details or guarantees on how the money is going to be spent.

It's the equivalent of going to the bank and asking for a business loan without telling the bank what kind of business you're opening. You cannot just give someone a blank check without any details. Especially to the tune of nearly a BILLION dollars. Who's to say we give them $800 million and most of the money goes towards funding private development or other things outside of what they "said" they were going to spend it on that have nothing to do with infrastructure?

Plus, this community is over-tax and under-serviced as it is. Why don't we cut some of wasteful spending at 12th and Oak and use THAT money to fix things? Or, better yet, how about we stop giving away tax dollars in sweet-heart deals for developers so that they start paying their fair share of taxes and use THAT money to fix things?

That's where the issue is. City Hall gets itself into trouble financially then puts the burden on the lower and middle classes while bending over backwards to make things easier for the rich. Reverse Robin Hood. Rob from the poor and give to the rich.

  13. Hey 11:07, don't build that big house in Kansas City. That would not be a very good investment. Go over to Kansas or to Lees Summit or Platte City. A big house in those places is lots more impressive, and that's what all the successful "businessmen" living off Kansas City do anyway. Why do you think that Burns & McDonnell is within walking distance of State Line? It's so that there is an easy commute for all the executives and managers who live in Leawood and Blue Hills.

  15. For all you enablers of City Hall malfeasance, it's not a matter of us readers always complaining, it's a recognition that City Hall continually works against the best wishes of taxpayers.

When you adopt the practice of loose financial accounting, not sticking to proper budget guidelines, purposely deferring maintenance so that you can declare a crisis requiring another tax hike, you're deserving of criticism.
