Tonight, let's take a quick look on the uncomfortable impact of political correctness on the local advertising world.
A KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTER took one look at a recent and somewhat tragic bit of Kansas City Royals promo and noted:
"Negro Leagues Day: Brought to you by: White people"
Here's a theory . . .
Negro League baseball is a great tradition worthy of study and celebration but it's a sporting legacy born out racism and segregation. We admire the Negro League greats not only because of their athletic achievement but also because of their independence and self-reliance.
Just a guess . . . But we can imagine the Royals front office wondering if it was okay to dress-up African-Americans in old school Negro Leagues uniforms or if that wasn't too reminiscent of the days of Jim Crow. Either way, the quandary was probably exacerbated by the fact that the Royals don't employ many Black people in their front office and don't really know any to ask . . .
OR, maybe this is yet another marketing foible that just demonstrates the Royals marketing team STILL doesn't know their fans.
You decide . . .
Nice catch. Do not look forward to the comment on this one.
ReplyDeleteI would guess the later. There are so many marketing deals underway now that the royals often ignore the details.
ReplyDeleteThat photo is hilarious.
ReplyDeleteThe more things change, the more they stay the same. Same as it ever was, same as it ever was, same as it ever, was...
ReplyDeleteNobody wants to see niggers, ever, too fucking ugly and subhuman.
ReplyDeleteThat's why. Duh.
You must be ugly as hell. Your white ass is subhuman. It takes one to know one
DeleteWTF!
ReplyDelete@648. Hits down. Have to capture some hateful comments. They all count.
ReplyDeleteReal hard to predict, heh?
The TKC Ump correctly calls Royals front-office out on strikes!
ReplyDeleteThey should have hired comedy legend Billy Crystal to put on some blackface and do a little old timey baseball player routine, the way that he's been doing with his Jazzman routine for decades.
ReplyDeleteNeeded at least eight people in photo for the 13% rule to apply
ReplyDeleteLOL @ Negro Leagues w/ White Only Ads. Priceless.
ReplyDeleteThe Royals record on community relations is not good. They haven't given back much and Tk is right, their hiring record is lackluster at best. Another shameful display in this advertisement.
ReplyDeleteWho's that bitch in the white and blue striped dress?
ReplyDeleteI'd fuck her in the ass. Then I'd cum all over her face and tits.
I don't give a shit how much they bait the hook smart white people are going nowhere near 18th and Vine. They could not turn that coonsville into Beale Street if they dug up BB King and enshrined him in front of the Gem.
ReplyDeleteNo one, black or white, ever goes to the stupid Negro Leagues Museum.
ReplyDeleteIt is a tomb down there.
Its dead in Cincy too. What a fuckin loser.
Too bad the Royals didn't sponsor and add that says, "While your sewer overflows and your water bill rises come on down to the coon museum and think about the priorities in this town."
ReplyDeleteThey potray this faux group as typical attendees, in order to better justify throwing more taxpayer money into that never-ending money pit.
ReplyDeleteIf we spend it...they will come...
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a boy, I loved baseball. I couldn't see well enough to play myself, but I loved the lore of it most of all. I used to have a simulation game that was designed in such a way that you could play with historical teams that no longer existed. I was very fond of it, & ridiculed by my family because of it. If you Google my name, you will see a link referencing The APBA Journal.
ReplyDeleteMy point is that the first time I ever heard of Kansas City, it was because of the Monarchs. I would love to be able to see this Museum some day.
Racism seems to be the product of an inferiority complex. Just saying ...
If it were not for white people, NIGGERS would still be in the trees. Too bad, that's where they should be still...
ReplyDeleteas if anyone is gonna google your name byron..lol..nobody gives a shit about you ,guy
ReplyDeleteAgain Byron wrote a lot of crap that didn't make sense and had nothing to say.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if these comments are from whites or blacks but pointing out the obvious mistake does what...?.
ReplyDeleteThe real problem imo that needs t be talked about is why are so many young blacks are in a situation that turns violent/deadly....and when that happens the police can't find one witness to help identify the shooter.
Looks like a Pat O'Neill work product.
ReplyDeleteToby Cook needs to go back to Fox 4 and report on another QuikTrip opening up.
ReplyDeleteLol you guys wouldnt say that in a black person face. So keep burning those fingers.
