Mr. "DO-GOOD", surely you know Mr. "BEEN-THERE" has been apprised of the full details on another portion of America's struggling schools. Low income households, high violence and crime, slowed economic recovery for too many hampers educational settings in more than one way. Crumbling sidewalks and accreditation are absolutely aligned. KCPS has much work ahead. Parents as teachers have the biggest responsibilities. Yes, some parents/guardians work long hours, and even some work two jobs and provide good modeling as adults. Some are mired in negative actions and attitudes that disadvantage their families and students.
ReplyDeleteLet's have the new guy walk through the doors of the homes and see which moms, dads, siblings and friends are uplifting each other and their communities. He could walk into the houses of worship during services and the bars at night to find which are filled to capacity and where 'collections' are steady.
Mayor Sly said recently that it's not just him, or a few politicians to fix the problems...it takes everyone (Our Divided City documentary). Same goes for KCPS and Bedell. Everyone "should do the walk".
