TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! FIGHT FOR KANSAS CITY MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE CONTINUES!!! MOTION TO RECONSIDER CLAIMS MISSOURI LAW UNCONSTITUTIONAL!!!
Our blog community has followed the Kansas City minimum wage fight with great interest and it seems like the NEXT part of the saga will be played out in the court.
Accordingly . . .
FIRST ON TKC!!! CHECK THIS LATEST MINIMUM WAGE MOTION CHALLENGING MISSOURI STATE LAW!!!
This makes a lot more sense than the petition effort and both sides should know that ANYTHING can happen inside a Jackson County Court.
BEFORE any other news outlet. Here's a copy of the claim that could change the course of the minimum wage fight.
Check on of the most interesting passages which provides the basis for the claim . . .
"The Court’s reliance on both statutes as support for its decision is misplaced because both statutes are unconstitutional. With regard to §67.1571 RSMo, the Missouri Legislature passed §67.1571 RSMo, as part of the Community Improvement District Act (the “Act”). The underlying purpose of the Act, §67.1400 RSMo through §67.1571 RSMo, was to provide mechanisms for forming and regulating community improvement districts throughout the state.
As such, the control of wages throughout the state simply does not fit within the Act’s stated purposes. Similarly, the stated purposes of House Bill 722 were to amend chapters 260 and 285, RSMo, by adding a new section to each statute. Each statute deals with entirely different subject matters. In effect, the Missouri Legislature appeared to believe that it could address two different subject matters in two different statutes masquerading under the common theme they are prohibitions on municipalities. House Bill 722 was passed by the Missouri Legislature after an override of the governor’s veto on September 16, 2015 . . ."

When your not smart enough, have a good work ethic or no education to make $15 an hour, all you have to do it beg Daddy Goverment for it.
ReplyDeleteThis is ridiculous and nothing more than a ploy to draw in people who are not bright enough to see the ploy. It is really a raise to $8.25 for now and will take a while to get to $13. Anything can happen with a new administration, council, etc.
ReplyDeleteI think the State Legislature needs to take about 4 hours next week and pass the, "Kansas City Take a Fucking Hint", act. If Sly want his own kingdom he came to the wrong place.
ReplyDeleteWhy are people today making less than people of equal skills in the 1960's? The United States economy has expanded, gdp has increased, inflation has rise, and yet wages have fallen.
ReplyDeleteIt really does not make sense to me.
The value of the dollar is less than before so it takes more money to do anything. And it will only get worse
DeleteI like govmint cheese from Daddy Govmint.
ReplyDelete2:25. It is called "Obamanomics": exchange high-paying manufacturing jobs with low-paying burger-flipping service jobs.
ReplyDeleteThe 21st Century economy thrives on education, mainly STEM; whereas, 20th Century jobs thrived on wrench-turning. Since NAFTA, the low-to-medium skill jobs have been exported out of the US. The TPP will do the same thing.
Want to know why college costs have skyrocketed the past 20 years? See above.
1. In the 1960's, houses were much smaller, there was no central AC, cars were much less reliable and most households only had one, televisions were small boxes, black and white only, and you actually had to get up to change the channel! Now we have many more conveniences and creature comforts, but they cost a lot more. 2. A huge influx of illegal immigrants have put downward pressure on unskilled labor. 3. Both litigation and regulation have grown significantly since the 1960's. These benefit employees generally, but because they make hiring someone much more risky and expensive, there are fewer employees to benefit.
ReplyDeleteThe jobs market has become what the economic bubble was a few years ago. There are really few to no decent jobs left. There are a few in industry and the medical world, but for the most part companies hire folks and in 5 years the employee is considered a tree huger so they run his ass out if he has not moved along. The same jobs jet passed around while everyone gets to retrain or search for another job. It's just like bad paper. At some point America will wake the hell up and realize the gravy train is gone and was given away by a bunch of fucking politicians and college professors preaching a global economy that only meant one thing for numb nuts America. Bend over folks we have nowhere to go but down.
ReplyDeleteThis is a fear driven economy called "Capitalism." The only "Daddy Government" is the military and the police. Both the state and federal budget is consumed by defense and security.
ReplyDelete1:12: English much?
ReplyDelete3:33: Good points, but this has been going on at least since the Clinton years. (Think NAFTA.)
