TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! READERS WARN OF HIGHER SATURDAY PRICES AND FUTURE PROBLEMS FOR THE KANSAS CITY STAR!!!

This Saturday the newspaper is already printing tomorrow's news before it happens, either they've been watching too many reruns of Early Edition or they're expanding yet another practice that's angering readers.

Accordingly . . .

CHECK OUT THIS REPORT FROM READERS RAGING AGAINST CONFUSING KANSAS CITY STAR SUNDAY PAPER STRATEGY!!!

Here's the word . . .

"TKC . . .Today we went to our local store in Lenexa to purchase a copy of the Star. My husband was surprised when the clerk told him the price was $2.00, and replied that was the charge for the Sunday paper. My husband looked down and sure enough, the Star had printed on today's edition the date Sunday September 27, 2015. It contained Saturday's news but it also contained the comics as well as other sections normally found in the Sunday paper. What is going on with our local publication? Nothing on KC Star website explaining their error??? We really want to support but the increases have been substantial and we never were getting our paper delivered. Maybe you can share this with the powers that be because we have been able to get them to return our calls......"
#####

Now, last year we caught the Star running the same future printing game but it wasn't yet a common practice.

This time around The Star seems to be expanding their strategy of charging more for their paper over the weekend without providing any new content.

You decide if this biz strategy is sustainable.

Comments

  1. Sustainable, NO. Desperate, Yes.

Their explanation for this always changes but readers should know that the 2 bucks they're paying for paper on Sunday and now Saturday is for old news and coupons that can be found much more easily online.

  2. Fuck 'em. I get my Sunday paper free. Dont ever read the bullshit the print M-Sat. Nothing but old people regurgitating the same shit year after year. F-U-C-K 'em. Cried two tears in a bucket! Fuck it!

  3. I am not sure this is a mistake. I think they charge for a weekend editions, but i might be wrong. Was it this way last week?

If not, or if prices are intermittently changing, contact Ryan Kimball. He is the Director of Investor Relations at the McClatchy Company. They own the Kansas City Star. They care very deeply about their company, and would be pleased to be informed of what is going on. They want to succeed, thats how they make money. The Star cannot be relied upon to self-report.

Ryan Kimball is a very pleasant man, and his email address is rkimball@mcclatchy.com

  4. Unbelievable how many tree huggers in KC are still clinging to the KC Star and it's old 1970s left wing slant.

  5. This looks like the US Postal Service model ---
    1. Reduce quality of product/service.
    2. Raise prices.
    3. Be shocked when demand for outmoded product/service continues to plunge.

Most of the few people who still want their news on paper will be dead in 10 years; the Star won't last that long.

  6. 2:06 I wouldn't count this dog dead yet. Content is gold today. There is a content shortage. Now McClatchy and the Star need to find better more innovative ways to monetize their content.

Trust me when I say, for as much as people are on their phones, tablets and computers, content is one of the most sought after commodities in the market today. Now can the Star and their parent company McClatchy execute successfully a plan to maximize the value of their content? Judging from the current Star authorship I too have my doubts.

  7. Hey, the stinking publisher/editor quits, I quit too. No more of this fucking rag for me!

  8. Confusion? They've only been doing it for two years.

  9. Some displeased people simply stop the paper.

Oh, I forgot that bitching about the misery of the cost of the paper is critical.

You would think the Pope would have addressed that level of human suffering in some of his prayers.

Marathon soon. Book of Revelations despair on the way.

  10. I blame the Dragon Woman Mi-Ai for the Star's ills.

She is truly what Yoko was to the Beatles, which is to say that the broad fucked the whole deal up.

  11. Yup. Two years. It even says "Early Sunday" right on it.

I hear it's all different Wednesday.

  13. 1:34: You cried two tears in a bucket and then came here to post. Gee. Thanks. I'm so underwhelmed.

  14. Maybe you could give them some tips Tony. You've this whole media empire around whining, bitching, and comments from an echo chamber of sad people who can only say "nigger nigger nigger". How's that working out? You putting a down payment on a place in Mission Hills yet? Did you hire someone just to count all the money you made with this proud brand you've created?

  15. ^^^^^^
Is that why you're reading on a Saturday night.

Personally, I come here for the titties.
