BRAD BRADSHAW FORMS EXPLORATORY COMMITTEE FOR 2016 LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR RACE

SPRINGFIELD, MO — Brad Bradshaw, a prominent Missouri physician and attorney, announced today he has formed an exploratory committee to assess his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for Lieutenant Governor in 2016.

“For too long the Office of the Lieutenant Governor has been used as a ceremonial office for a do-nothing politician enjoying a free meal ticket from Missouri taxpayers,” said Bradshaw. “The office should do more to improve the access and affordability of healthcare for seniors and veterans, create jobs and economic growth for all Missourians, and promote more efficient government.” Dr. Bradshaw plans to launch specific ballot initiatives over the next few months that are aimed at creating jobs, growing the state’s economy, and reducing taxes on the middle class and small businesses owners.

Dr. Bradshaw has been active in Missouri politics over the last two decades supporting and advising candidates and policies focused on improving the quality of life for working families. Last fall, he successfully lead a diverse coalition to defeat a Jackson County proposed sales tax increase by effectively arguing the ballot measure would unfairly divert $800 million in tax revenue to private corporations, some even in Kansas, with no substantial value or return for Missouri residents.

Dr. Bradshaw grew up in Springfield, and at the age of eighteen moved to Kansas City when accepted into the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s Accelerated Medical School Program. After medical school, Dr. Bradshaw worked in a surgical residency program before going on to receive specialized training in Internal Medicine and Psychiatry, and later receiving CME certification in Clinical Obstetrics from Harvard Medical School. Dr. Bradshaw also received a law degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law and has obtained justice for hundreds of seriously injured Missourians, and currently has offices in Springfield, Kansas City, and St. Louis. Although traveling extensively between the three cities, he currently lives in Springfield with his family.
