In the aftermath of the Kansas City Royals World Series Food FAIL . . . It's important to know that culinary danger still stalks Kansas City.

To wit . . .

KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS TELL US THAT THE VENDER DISHING OUT QUESTIONABLE FARE @ THE K ALSO SERVES UP FOOD FOR THE KANSAS CITY 1% AT KPAC!!!

Here's the word:

"Off the record, it might be noted that Aramark is also over f and b at The Kauffman Center for performing arts."

  1. What are their views on serving spam?

  2. It's easier to unload on the performing arts crowd.
They think the mold is an exotic mushroom, foi gras, or cheese.
When will Aramark start selling kale?

  3. Embarrassing for kc. Other cities even have much more fancy food available than kc and now we hear that it is old and crappy, not just common but also icky.

  4. Millions in tax dollars, exorbitant food prices and this is what we get? Is this the first time a food inspector has ever been to the stadium? Now the story has gone national and KC has once again become a joke punchline. I'd like to express my appreciation to the Mayor and City Council, the County Executive and County legislator and lastly to the Jackson County Sports Authority. Well done!!......Again.

  5. 8:13 is right, was out in Denver for work last year and went to a Rockies game. They have so many more vendors with a better selection all over the stadium, not just in the high dollar seats. Never was in favor of Aramark to begin with. They doubled the price of everything. Put a gates at the upper level and try grilled burgers.

  6. Too bad. To me, nothing quite goes with Wagner's "Siegfried's Funeral March" like a brat with sauerkraut and a fresh pretzel.

  7. I agree Aramark has never impressed me and I just look at the help they have and pass on it at any event they are at.

  8. A lot of their help is flunkies from Labor Ready with no training at all if even sober.

  9. Ain't this something. The city health bureaucrats go around writing up businesses for stupid shit like pizza pans being used too much, but let the city crawl in bed with a vendor and an employee has to loose his job while whistle blowing to get the city off its ass to do something. Better check KCI too kids. This is why the city needs to stick to governing and gt the hell out of being in business.

  10. OH MY GOD< the TKC "Insiders" have spoken!

Of course, they know little of what they are talking about.

Aramark, Savor, of whatever, will respond to the scope of the contracts. They don't determine the fare, they just do what is directed in the terms of the proposal and contract.

Paco and his insiders really believe that because they consume at an event, they are in a position to make multi million business decisions.

I guess you could be moving on the stadium security or maintenance services next.

  11. Whoever runs the bars at the Kaufman center needs to be replaced. Was there a month ago and they were serving glasses of pretty bad white wine at room temperature. Knowing how everything works in Killer City, I just assumed I was being victimized by some of the mayor's corporate sponsors. Pretty shabby when you have to drink piss after paying big bucks for tickets. McDonald's would have done a better job.

  12. As I say folks if you really knew what went on in many kitchens in this town you would gag.

9:47 did you know that events like that sometimes but more likely all the time some of the food is cooked 3 to 4 days ahead them warmed up before serving? You pay big money for events with dinners and even money says you're eating several day old food. I have seen F&B managers force help to quick dip shrimp in water with bleach in it that is on the edge of spoiling and getting a smell to it. Rinse it off good and the smell is gone but it isn't always rinsed good, you think minimum wage kitchen help cares if it gets rinsed good. So if you're at a big event always smell things like cold peeled shrimp first and if it don't smell right don't eat it.

  13. Aramark does not serve KCPAC anymore as of about a year ago. Different company now.

  14. Aramark provides services at KC and OP Convention Centers as well as Starlight.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Like the mayor said on Twitter last night: Why didn't Mike Sanders put an end to this at the Sports Complex. The Lisa and Dale Carter connection might be the answer.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Aramark also ran the kitchen in the Nelson Room at the Star. That is until the Star lost so many employee's that they couldn't afford to keep the kitchen open.

  17. 9:25 Do you have an opinion or are you just here to tell everyone else they can't have one? Pompous Ass!

  18. Bleaching shrimp?? Omfg. I will never eat shrimp again.

  19. Not Kosher in KC11/15/14, 3:23 PM

kauffman center fare is disgusting. a shame to all of the city.

  20. One of the more scandalous practices of seafood markets, particularly low-volume ones in grocery stores, is that of . . . bleaching the seafood. Yup, that's correct. Most of the seafood they sell is not fresh, but has been previously frozen. Nobody will buy frozen from a market, so they thaw it. Then, it goes bad. So, they rinse the seafood in a solution of bleach to slow down decomposition and knock down the smell so that you can't tell it is going bad.

So, you're not imagining it. You are tasting Clorox.

  21. @101:

    Bitching without basis is grim.

Or, keep guessing and groaning if it makes you feel better.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Well, based on the stench of rotten pussy in the Brookside Pricechooper near the seafood counter, you can assume that they don't use any bleach on their seafood whatsoever.

  23. I worked at the K during the Series for a shall remain nameless temp agency. I thought the stand I was assigned to was an aberration until I was assigned to another one at the next game. Concessions at the K are a farce. The help is lazy and only work when they are pocketing the money. The food is disgusting.
Is it a coincidence that Aramark also supplies food for prisons?

  24. Get you facts straight before publishing them for everyone to see - Aramark is OUT at KPAC loser
