On this July 4th we'd like to share a bit of good news and offer a shout out to some of our heroes who valiantly LEAD BY EXAMPLE and defend Freedom, Liberty and Democracy in Kansas City on an elite level.
To wit . . .
TODAY WE SALUTE THESE KANSAS CITY TOP 5 DEFENDERS OF DEMOCRACY!!!
This quick name check offers just a bit of tribute to those who work hard to maintain our local freedoms.
MISS SWEETIE PIE AND THE TKC BLOG COMMUNITY
We appreciate all comments and participation in our AWESOME BLOG FORUM and more than a few comments stand out. We regularly call out some of you but right now Ms. Sweetie Pie deserves recognition because of her hard work to improve KCMO and because her comments often leave us asking even more questions about whatever topic at hand. Sure, there are a lot of TKC blog comment superstars like InaFunkAboutTheFunk, Chuck, SD, Hyperblogal, El Bryan, The Polar Bear, Another Midtown Mom, Xalti and theEditor and all of you keep this blog and Kansas City in check or at least on HIGH ALERT and OPEN to criticism in this town's last remaining free speech zone.
SUPER LAWYER LYNNE BRATCHER
Similarly, if readers enjoy commenting or the ability to express discontent in a public forum . . . All of Kansas City And ESPECIALLY TKC must recognize the amazing work of SuperLawyer, Dean Of The KCMO Trial Bar Lynne Bratcher. We haven't talked to Lynne in awhile but we trust she's out there fighting for her clients, standing up for the less fortunate and simply being one of Kansas City's top advocates. If you want to talk lady leadership by example . . . Look no further than the amazing work and practice that Lynne Bratcher has built over the years.
MARK ALFORD AND KICK-ASS KANSAS CITY NEWSIES
It's not just about reporting the news, it's about selling the news and MAKING THE PUBLIC TAKE NOTICE OF THE ISSUES THAT IMPACT THEIR LIVES. To that end . . . Mark Alford is Kansas City's morning leader extraordinaire and not only one of the most KICK-ASS NEWSIES in KC but also the most captivating news dude in town.
CHIEF FORTÉ AND THE KCPD
In a very real way, KCPD is on the street every day protecting this town and our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Better still, this year there's a very real hope that murder numbers will decline and we attribute that directly to improvements made by the Chief. In fact, both Dr. Earnest Evans and TKC suggest that it was the moment when the Chief SMACKED DOWN Council Dude Jermaine Reed over "dangerous" racial profiling allegations that this town experienced a real turnaround in the local crime fight and a more meaningful call for community engagement and cooperation.
CLAY CHASTAIN AND KANSAS CITY INITIATIVE PETITIONERS OF EVERY STRIPE
Some may not like his style but there is no doubt that CLAY CHASTAIN and so many other citizen petitioners have done more to defend Democracy than any local politico in recent memory. Citizen Initiative Petitions are the last real vestige of local Democracy and from saving the airport to calling out our elected officials . . . They're really the only way to remind City Hall that voters still power Kansas City Democracy.
Of course this list represents only a small fraction of people out there defending local Democracy . . .
FEEL FREE TO SUGGEST YOUR OWN KANSAS CITY DEMOCRACY DEFENDERS!!!
And celebrate the 4th with something more meaningful than ribs . . .
More in a bit . . .
There's that logo.
ReplyDeleteToni Bones?
ReplyDeleteHow about the Federal task force that is putting away felons with guns in Federal court. These are the felons that have been using the revolving door in Jackson County Jails for many years.
ReplyDeleteHow about Rex sinquefeild, Dan Coffey, Sherry Dejanes, pat Touhey and sue burke?
ReplyDeleteNothing says democracy like interfering in the democratic decisions of places you don't live and have no stake in. We po folk wouldn't never have knowed how to vote if good miss Dejanes and Massa Coffey hadn't tol us what to think and what to dos with our money. Thanks patronizing white folk!
CK.
ReplyDeleteHow about Cathy Nugent who has built a career around raising money for "non-establishment" candidates, who also happen to be very right-wing.
ReplyDeleteHer main contribution to democracy seems to be that none of the people she works for actually get elected.
Which is a very good thing for all of us.
How about the people who keep the city running, and keep basic services up? When yer trash gets picked up tomorrow, thanks the guys who do it, because its a job you and your kids wouldn't do but we all depend on people willing to work.
ReplyDeleteIt's the Polar Bear, no question about it.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Let us taxpayers be grateful the city picks up two bags of trash a week. What more could you ask for from life?
ReplyDeleteNo doubt there has been serious brain drain in CKMO.
ReplyDeleteLook at your leadership. That says it all.
Kyle James is the WINNER! I love to eat his ass out and let him fart up my nostrils.
ReplyDeleteOn this 4th of July the Polar Bear wants to say thanks to TKC for being the ONLY Free Speach left in Killa City.
ReplyDeleteThe Bear enjoys dusting up the natives and the do-gooders in their hi-top Doc's. If you want to believe it, fine. Otherwise, let the party begin.
The Bear clan is dining on roast penguin basted in Jack Daniels today topped off with some watermelon. Hang on. The hood rat alarm just went off. Must be the watermelon attracting the feral troupe from Swope.
Happy 4th, we still live in the greatest country on earth even if we have a problem or two.
E. Polaris Bear III
The city picks up unlimited trash bags, you fucking hillbilly.
ReplyDeleteFind something else to cry about, you fucking tear factor of faux outrage and misplaced angst.
Goddamn you motherfuckers are crybabies.
EDITOR'S REVIEW:
ReplyDeleteYou should have stopped after Miss Sweetie Pie and Lynne Bratcher! Inclusion of the remainders makes you appear to be a suck-up.
Just saying....anyhoo!
Super Lawyer she sure as hell isn't
ReplyDeleteShe is what she is nothing special. Well Mo Rage wants to fuck her it appears.
I like all of you dudes, you crack me up!
