Before anybody else, TKC reported Mayor Sly taking a beating on Twitter over his stance on Kansas City taxi permit controversy . . . Now it seems he's using a bit of one-way communication to continue his defense . . . Which is smart but not exactly groundbreaking.
Hit the brakes and get the facts
Money quote:
"This is not a case of the “big, bad City” out to set back entrepreneurs. This is a case where the City is willing to work with ridesharing companies in order to bring safe, innovative services to Kansas City. When those companies are ready to work cooperatively with us to protect the safety of citizens, and they meet public safety regulations, we’ll be ready to give them a green light."
Read the whole thing and there's something in between the lines that most don't realize . . .
TKC FACT CHECK . . . MAYOR SLY DEFENDS THE BILL GEORGE TRANSIT GROUP BY CITING HIS SUCCESS IN WORKING WITH ZTRIP THAT'S PART OF THE BILL GEORGE TRANSIT GROUP!!! NICE!!!
Sadly, Mayor Sly is faking comments on his post and this PR play shows his office backpeddling now that his Internets image has been tarnsihed.
More in a bit . . .
I support the mayor. He's standing up for the law!

Good to know that another business group has bought and paid for Sly.
ReplyDeleteshut up McGurk.
ReplyDeleteI think his contemptuous disregard for normal people trying to make an honest living be his demise.
ReplyDeleteYou can't trust anyone employing the Silicon Valley business model anymore.
Can't fault the mayor for taking care of playing clients.
ReplyDeleteSorry to disrupt you techies from all your nonsense. But things change.
ReplyDeleteHe can't afford to upset this voter block if he wants to be elected for a second term. God forbid that thought but it's true.
ReplyDelete@3:38, to me it looks like things are saying exactly the same.
ReplyDeleteThese types of IPO focused start ups are like locusts. They come in and destroy everything in their path to get a listing on the new York Stock exchange so the investors can make their exit and a couple founders can have bragging rights and become the next super duper kid millionaires.
ReplyDeleteThe beatings will continue till they comply.
ReplyDeleteThe city just wants another way to extract more money out of ANY business.
ReplyDeleteThis city is so hell bent on permits in the name of "safety" but often safety is just a ruse for more regulations and more merits.
And Lyft doesn't want to extract money out of KC we'll never see again? Get real dude!
ReplyDeleteI can see tech companies saying we're going to disrupt your lives, take your money, ruin your business, sell out your privacy, take over your neighborhood, so to bad!
ReplyDeleteThat is normal, but this takes arrogance to a whole new level.
Sly has sold out KC!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't this compete with the toy choo choo also?
ReplyDeleteI thought the choo choo is "free" isn't it? Just get on and think wow man this is really cool I can go hang out this afternoon with my artsy friends.
ReplyDeleteHe's to busy schmoozing worthless trust fund hipsters who don't contribute much of anything most of the time other than LOOK AT ME!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIs it any wonder we're going down the tubes?
He has a point.
ReplyDeleteMaybe 355 people downtown can vote on it in one of those "special elections" few hear about these guys excel at.
ReplyDeleteHis blog actually makes sense to me
ReplyDelete3:13 you are the reason KC sucks as much as it does because you are one of those MANY idiots who say things like: "I support the mayor. He's standing up for the law"! Here is a bubble buster for ya he is standing up for a ridiculous ordnance he may have not been the one to make, but by "Standing Up" (as you say) he continues the mafia agenda! Until the people who pay the wages of the so called leaders in this town decide to "STAND UP" and DEMAND some changes your city will suck as long as it has FOREVER.
ReplyDelete11:17 that's no shit!!!
ReplyDelete"Uber maintains that Muzzafar was not an Uber employee and that an app, by definition, can not be held liable" for the death of a 6 year old girl in San Francisco by an Uber driver. Uber and Lyft have the same "insurance" policies. And the Uber driver's personal insurance denied coverage as well--he was using his personal vehicle for commercial use. That's why there are regulations.
