TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! EVERYBODY SHOULD TAKE THE DOWNTOWN TOY TRAIN STREETCAR SURVEY BECAUSE ALL OF KANSAS CITY IS GONNA PAY FOR THE MAYOR'S FAVORITE PLAYTHING!!!
Here's a look at local PR workers attempting to target their message properly . . .
To wit . . .
PLEASE SKEW AND SCREW UP THE DATA FOR THIS TOY TRAIN SURVEY GIVEN THAT THE RIGGED ELECTION IS GOING TO COST ALL OF KANSAS CITY IN THE LONG RUN!!!
Also . . . Mayor Sly and Council never really asked anybody but a measly 300 people about this effort . . .
Streetcar survey for Downtown employers, workers and residents
The Kansas City Streetcar Authority is conducting a behavioral survey of employers, workers and residents in the KC Downtown Transportation Development District (see attached map) to gauge perceptions and potential use of the Downtown streetcar and to aid in determining hours of operation.
The Downtown Streetcar, which will operate from Union Station to the River Market, is expected go live in about two years.
If you respond by Aug. 1, you will be eligible to win dinner for two from one of Downtown’s best restaurants.
Not only are you invited to complete a survey, but also the Streetcar Authority welcomes input from your employees, colleagues and friends in the TDD. Simply ask them to follow the link to get the survey that is appropriate for them:

Tony you are so stupid. What is your phobia about rail transport based upon? It really is unexplainable to the sane population.
ReplyDeletethese survey is a joke. where is the taxpayer group?
ReplyDelete6:39 are you eve stupid. Where is your right to see that taxpayers dollars are wasted on stupid shit?
ReplyDeleteYour idiot thoughts are unexplainable to the sane population.
So I took it, because I live downtown and voted for this project. There was a question that asked "If there was no pay would this offset my paid parking?" So this piece of crap is going to be free? How will this pay for itself? I would like to thank all of the idiots who voted for this for the extra tax burden.
ReplyDelete7:31 you voted for the POS so go look in the mirror and then punch yourself in the face really hard. Then walk over to a major ATA route and throw yourself under the first bus that comes by just like you did the taxpayers of Kansas City.
ReplyDeleteSo City Hall will take the most glowing submissions out of the couple dozen or so that actually get filled out (by supporters and marketers of the toy train of course) and then The Star will publish a - City Overwhelmingly Supports Streetcar! piece.
ReplyDeleteWhat else is new?
The streetcar needs to connect to the airport like Portland's does.
ReplyDeleteYou need to get your head examined 8:21
ReplyDeleteCitizens only hope is that the lawsuit can stop the crazies.
ReplyDelete7:31 am - streetcar people say it has to be free or no one would ride it???
ReplyDeleteA behavioral survey?
ReplyDeleteWhat are they looking for trained monkeys?
8:28 is right.
ReplyDeleteConnect the airport to the rest of the City with a streetcar and you might as well close KCI, the Sprint Center, and Bill George's taxi empire.
KCI's lifeblood is the automobile. Annual parking revenues are in the tens of millions and are by far the single largest generator of money for KCI. They make the difference in whether KCI makes money or loses money. Eliminate parking revenues and you damn well might as well close up KCI.
The bonds that built the Sprint Center are paid for by rental car fees.
And what would Bill George do without the $75 cab rides? He wouldn't be giving much money to local politicians, that's for sure!
Sly and crew are looking for more innovative ways to rip us all off.
ReplyDeleteSame ol song
hearme.plaything
ReplyDeletedo dat tyrain go by a Popeye's????
ReplyDeleteDowntown loft dwellers are EVIL!!!
ReplyDeleteI know, I used to be one.
I filled it out and was overwhelmingly positive because Slanderella hates it. eat a bag of dicks.
ReplyDeleteI filled out all 3 categories of the survey multiple times.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the point of this kind of survey when anyone can fill it in and say anything they want? If they want a real survey @Staubio and Dave Johnson should walk around downtown and go talk to people face to face. Talk to the people at the bus transfer plaza on Main and ask then how they feel about the streetcar cutting into the ATA service.
The streetcar will be a KCATA facility. It will be theirs to administer and operate.
ReplyDeleteThe dilemma with transit systems is they can never fund themselves. That's why they must be subsidized. Just like the airlines. $1.25 to ride the bus across town. That doesn't even by 1/3 gallon of gas.
But, it's a necessity. Just like roads and streets. They have to be paid for by the local jurisdiction. They don't fund themselves.
My only concern with the future streetcar is that, when you go and build one of these things anew in a city - you're trying to retrofit it into the existing infrastructure. What will happen is what you'd see if you rode the lightrails in Dallas, Denver and Minneapolis..They run along the street, which means they have to stop for signalized intersections just like vehicular traffic - when they're in the downtown area. That sort of defeats the premise of "rapid transit" - unless you get the Traffic Department to provide Transit Signal Priority preemption into the traffic signals so the streetcar doesn't have to "wait on red", or you place the individual stations at intersections - and when the signal's red, that's when you have alighting/boarding of the train.
