TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! 5TH DISTRICT CRITICS SHOCKED THAT MAYOR SLY AND CINDY CIRCO FORGO MINORITY HIRING REQUIREMENTS IN PRICEY SWOPE PARK SOCCER "EMERGENCY" ORDINANCE!!!

Kansas City Mayor Sly James and Mayor Pro Tem make strange political bed buddies and their cooperation becomes even more quizzical this week.

To wit . . .

KANSAS CITY 5TH DISTRICT DENIZENS ARE SHOCKED THAT MAYOR SLY AND MAYOR PRO TEM CIRCO HAVE SKIPPED OVER MINORITY HIRING REQUIREMENTS IN THEIR EMERGENCY ORDINANCE FOR SWOPE SOCCER CASH!!!

At the outset of this week TKC broke news of the "emergency" cash move that starts today . . .

But it gets even worse . .

Remember that every time Mayor and City Council declare an "emergency" when they need more money that means minority hiring requirements go out the window.

And yes, we know that so many people object to this distinction BUT . . . Let's look at political reality . . .

Mayor Sly hasn't done much for Kansas City's Eastside or minority business . . . Skipping minority hiring on this "emergency" soccer deal is seen as yet another slap in the face to a community he promised he wouldn't forget.

Even worse . . .

Mayor Pro Tem Cindy Circo was elected in the predominately African-American 5th District and her failure to offer any representation as of late seems to confirm the contention that At-large districts disenfranchise minority voters.

In this rush for soccer money, Mayor Sly and Mayor Pro Tem Cindy Circo seem unconcerned with both minorities and taxpayers and yet again are put developers at the top of their agenda.

  1. But Diane "Dino" Stafford says a national measure of financial stress on households indicates that Kansas City area consumers are in slightly better shape than they were a year ago.

  7. THEY ARE BREAKING THE LAW - IF YOU SPEND A DIME OF FEDERAL STATE CITY MONEY IN KC (URBAN CORE) THEY ARE SUPPOSE TO HIRE CONTRACTORS IN THAT URBAN CORE AREA - THE LAW IS CALLED SECTION 3 AND THE HOUSING AUTHORITY HAS SOME HOW BECOME RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PROGRAM (WHICH WAS AT CITY HALL) - CALL THE POLICE AND HAVE THEM ALL PUT IN JAIL FOR THIS INSANITY - REALLY, THEY ARE WRONG.

  8. EMERGENCY MONEY IS "SUPPOSED" TO BE ACTIVATED WHEN THE "HEALTH, SAFETY, AND WELFARE" OF THE "CITIZENS" ARE AT RISK...SEEMS TO ME, SEWERS ARE A HEALTH AND SAFETY ISSUE - NOT SOME DARN PLAYING FIELDS. . . WHY ARE THE PUBLIC (WE) ALLOWING THIS TYPE OF TREATMENT FROM THE VERY SAME PEOPLE WE VOTED INTO OFFICE. . THEY ALL SEEM BENT ON PUTTING THEIR NAME - YES, THEIR NAME ON PROJECTS THAT REALLY - DO NOT MATTER!!

  9. you have to have a GED and a couple OSHA certifications down there to hire the urban core. White guys can't handle it because they can't work around a party situation like midtown and they all relapse

  10. 12 million emergency for soccer but no emergency for the killing fields?

  12. What a pile of bull hockey. Force us to use minority bids in construction?! When you hire a construction company, you get the bids, and base your hiring decision on the best person/company for the job. Ooops, I fogot, that isnt' the American way anymore. Brother!!!!
