TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! COMMUNITY COUNTS ON CONGRESSMAN CLEAVER TO LEAD UPCOMING KANSAS CITY COUNCIL DISTRICT CHANGE!!!
It's interesting that prominent leaders in Kansas City's African-American and Latino communities are relying on Congressman Cleaver to help change the configuration of Council Districts.
Yesterday, Kansas City Insiders broke news of the effort to realign Council Districts and possibly reduce or remove the "At-Large" seats which have served only to dilute minority votes.
Again, Congressman Cleaver hinted at this collaboration during his last Town Hall meeting which hosted members of Black/Brown coalition.
But more to the point and this is simply my analysis . . .
KANSAS CITY MINORITY LEADERS SEEM TO FEEL THAT THEY HAVE GREATER ACCESS AND EMPATHY FROM CONGRESSMAN CLEAVER RATHER THAN KANSAS CITY'S MAYOR!!!
One Kansas City Insider said . . .
"There will be an announcement on this effort soon. We're working with and we hope to have the Congressman present to help lead the way."
Again, no mention of Mayor Sly . . .
However . . .
It's equally important to note that there is open discussion of this move from the Council and already a few members have offered a bit of support behind the scenes. There's even surprising consideration from a Northland Councilman.
And so . . . This is yet another example where grassroots community work has bypassed or moved forward without the help of Mayor Sly during the attempt to identify him as a "strong Mayor" who seems increasingly out of step with most of his constituents who aren't working on development deals.
Developing . . .
Sly should think about supporting this cause. It would make him stronger as mayor.

ReplyDeleteIf Kansas City is counting on Cleaver to do or fix anything, they are fucked! This leech hasn't done a damned thing in his entire political life but feather his own nest. As the end of his career gets closer, he's simply stepping up the screwing and it sure looks like KC voters are going for the hustle. Pity.

ReplyDeleteSeems City is "plumbing" and deleting over valued assessments from online public record. These are vacant and distressed properties that suddenly skyrocketed in price. So we are supposed to trust these guys? Is Cleaver the new "front man".

Sly's a "personality" packaged for public consumption. Mayor is a bit of a stretch.
