If you are not satisfied that the market value on your reassessment notice is correct, you may request an informal hearing with an appraiser by calling (816) 881-4601 - But you should probably be prepared to wait until the end of time for an answer.
You also have the right to appeal to the Jackson County Board of Equalization (BOE). An appeal must be filed on or before the third Monday in June -- as provided by Sec. 137.385 R.S.Mo.

Good luck with that appeal process. Be sure to calculate the cost of time and money to appeal before you bother.
ReplyDeleteThe Chiefs & Royals need more money.
ReplyDeleteThis is hilarious! I'm soooo glad that I'm outta Jackson County and the away from the fucking thieves that operate it. Own property?? Fuck no, you just rent it from the taxing authorities. Don't pay your taxes and the same thing will happen if you don't pay the rent. Out you go!! No, there's no "ownership" at all!!!
ReplyDeleteGames were played by Assessment employees marked for the employment chopping block! Retain counsel and seek justice. Do not hire non-lawyer representatives, who might have worked for the Assessor, raised your taxes before leaving County employment, so that they can charge you a commission to appeal the rate that they applied to you. The US Attorney should open a public corruption investigation.
ReplyDeleteThis money funds the schools. Pay your fair share dead beats!
ReplyDeleteCity Hall is clearly and officially insane. As in totally insane.
ReplyDeleteCriminally Insane
ReplyDelete7:44 True, but City Hall has nothing to do with this story.
ReplyDeleteThey can only raise assessments 4 or 6 percent every 2 years. Someone needs to check into this. Check with the Missouri Tax Commission.
ReplyDelete5/6/13, 7:31 AM Crosby Kemper and HIS library gets a larger percenge of the property tax revenue than do the schools.
ReplyDeleteIs Steve Glorioso still "representing" people on property tax appeals, and is he still a "kick-ass tipster" to this blog?
ReplyDeleteBingo!
ReplyDeleteJust remember appeals can go the other way, up instead of down.
ReplyDeleteI suppose Glorioso gets paied either way?
ReplyDeletepaid -- my screed is playing games this morning
ReplyDeleteWAKE UP PEOPLE
ReplyDelete7:31: If my property tax is funding the schools, I'm getting cheated.
ReplyDeleteSo the school district goes into the toilet, there are numerous foreclosure sales, there are rolling gun battles on the streets and they want to increase the property taxes by 30-40%? Where's the increase in value?
ReplyDeleteMr. Tony,
ReplyDeleteCould this have anything to do with the outrageous purchase Mr. Skippy made when the County bought the old AT&T building? Now just why do we need an office tower? For the parking spaces?
Mr. Tony,
ReplyDeleteCould this have anything to do with the outrageous purchase Mr. Skippy made when the County bought the old AT&T building? Now just why do we need an office tower? For the parking spaces?
OOPS!!
ReplyDeleteMine increased 68%
ReplyDeleteIs Steve Glorioso still "representing" people on property tax appeals?
ReplyDeleteGloriosos condo just increased in "value" from 230,000 to 358,400. If he's not complaining and raising hell He's probably a major player in inflating this fake bubble. Sell while the gittin's good! Thanks suckers!
5/6/13, 9:04 AM How would you know this?
ReplyDeleteKansas City Mayor Sly James to propose property tax increase (May 2012) The issue, passed up by previous city councils, can no longer wait, says the Mayor’s office. This will increase property taxes for the average family owning a $150,000 home and $15,000 car by $150 per year.
ReplyDeleteMayor Sly James says the city is $6 billion behind in spending on infrastructure maintenance.
9:07 AM everything is public record. If you know where to look.
ReplyDeleteHow about just canceling all the TIFs that KC gave away over the past 20 years?

Now Appearing! The Housing Bubble 2.0
ReplyDeleteMike is raising Taxes he needs to stay home and take of business instead of running around State wide.
ReplyDeleteExactly the same as last year for me.
ReplyDeleteBut I bet all those janky houses in the city that had especially low valuations finally got jacked up.
My neighborhood has comps and new builds so it would have been easy to contest any valuation.
And take note KCMO shitheels, in Lee's Summit about 65% of our taxes go to the school district. That's why people actually want to live here.
60% of KCMO property taxes go to schools. Is that 5% the difference?
ReplyDeleteI rounded down, my LSMO schools rake is 68%.
ReplyDeleteSo yeah, ~13% more money for the schools.
Plus no TIF handouts means everyone actually pays.
A few more years of this shit and Kansas City will be a poor, burned out joke of a city with no economy at all except for what the local rich folk and corporate criminal enterprises can steal from the poor.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry The Star should be putting out a defensive puff piece anytime about how Kansas Citians are thrilled with the new evaluations on their homes!! With a credit give to the mayor for bringing back the housing market.
ReplyDeleteYes Yael is no doubt putting the polish on it 10:35. Little dab of bullshit on a cloth and rub rub rub.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry. The Stock Market is roaring to new heights and everyone has lots of disposable cash from dividends rolling in!!!
ReplyDeleteHow is unaffordable housing going to help the economy
ReplyDeleteI think it's great. Now I can charge much higher rents for the Toy Train people without being vilified as unfair, opportunistic, or corrupt.
ReplyDeleteThe housing market apparently rocked on last week's news that about 175,000 more car wash attendants were added to the work force, because that's where the money is these days.
ReplyDeleteCriminals are no doubt going to have to work overtime to pay those rent increases.
ReplyDelete7:31 am
ReplyDeleteEducation is run by deadbeats. School boards are nothing by thieves. Education is racket just like healthcare.
WTF!! The crack shack across the street is now worth more then my place?
ReplyDeleteCrosby Kemper's library is the only thing that works in this area. Maybe he could take over the schools.
ReplyDeleteMine went up 64%
ReplyDeleteHowever will Charlie Wheeler handle this?
ReplyDeleteIf Nutter would pay the the right taxes on Nutterville we would be fine.
ReplyDelete5/6/13, 3:03 PM
ReplyDeleteCrosby does not really do anything. If he had any skills he would not have lost his job as a banker, at a bank that his family controls.
Am I expected to pay higher taxes in the 3rd City Council District? There must be a sliding scale!
ReplyDeletethe city council and the mayor couldn't be more prouder than if they actually, physically gave birth to this train wreck, even their own ego's and shame wont force them to leave office because the greed is so great, its just one big fucking joke to the bunch of them.
ReplyDeleteSo I have a question, I live outside of Kansas city but I own a vacant lot in Jackson County. I got a fine of $400 without any notices saying that the city cleaned up my lot and said if i dont pay they will hold a lien against my property and that the city has the right to use outside collection resources and or legal remedies to enforce collection of delinquent special assessments including foreclosure. I have had so many problems with this lot and dont want to pay and dont really care if they take my lot away i just dont want to be put on collection for it. What is the worst that can happen? Are they even able to put me on collections for not paying this?? Someone PLEASE help!
