Kansas City priorities or lack thereof on display . . .
KC Biz Journal: Kansas City seeks $20 million through the fifth round of TIGER, or Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery, program
And yet again it's clear to see that the 2.2-mile, $102 million+ Main Street toy train has dominated Mayor Sly's agenda and amid so many other Kansas City concerns.
This is laughable. Tell Sly to save his stamp.
ReplyDelete"City Treasurer Tammy Queen said more federal assistance would allow the city to offset its bonding by the amount issued through the grant." You would think the money would be going back to the taxpayers who are paying the extra sales tax and property tax.
ReplyDelete2 years ago the city wanted to lay off 105 firefighters, which would've saved about 5.25 million in salary. They said it was because it was broke. The city won't pay police officers what they're worth. The cities roads and pipes are falling apart. How in the world does the city council think this is a good idea? Isn't there more pressing needs? Aren't there some other stuff our taxes should be going to instead of this thing? Like basic stuff like police, fire, water and other utilities?
ReplyDeleteNot very good reporting by Business Journal. What about the pending lawsuit?
ReplyDeleteSomeone needs to tell the feds this is just a corporate sweetheart deal to benefit downtown developers.
ReplyDeleteIt's not about transportation at all. It's about a snazzy development photograph for the front cover of the next phone book.
Don't give KC the money.
If your City Treasurer is named "Tammy Queen", you have a major problem already. The NIGGERS have won and it's time to load the wagons.
ReplyDeleteThis one won't fly as you cannot apply for a Federal grant if a lawsuit is pending on the project.
