TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! DRASTIC CHARTER CHANGE COMING SOON!!! KANSAS CITY "STRONG MAYOR" CAMPAIGN EFFORT IN THE WORKS!!!
Kansas City hasn't seen an elected official as popular as Mayor Sly James in more than a generation.
During his brief tenure, Mayor Sly James has led 5 TAX INCREASE VOTES in the midst of an ongoing recession. He has really only taken criticism for seemingly pretending to be a firefighter in the aftermath of the JJ's Inferno rather than champion the safety of residents.
But, given that Local 42 still controls the politics of this town, his fashion tribute is more than understandable.
Now . . .
KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS HAVE LEARNED THAT SOME OF MAYOR SLY'S STRONGEST SUPPORTERS ARE PREPARING A PUSH TO MAKE A DRASTIC CHANGE TO KANSAS CITY'S CHARTER AND MOVE THIS TOWN TO A "STRONG MAYOR" FORM OF GOVERNMENT!!!
A comment on the effort . . .
"Mayor James has won every election push he's been involved in and now is the time to make real change in local government," A Kansas City Insider said. "Ultimately, we're going to sell this as the Mayor wanting to take more accountability for his job and assume more responsibility."
More . . .
"As far as the public is concerned, this is just one of many endorsements they've already given to the Mayor," The AWESOME TKC TIPSTER said. "Tony, not even you can deny that the Mayor brings at least 20 points worth of positive public opinion to almost every issue that he addresses. So far, every issue that he has endorsed has won in a landslide."
On the other hand, Mayor Sly has only faced organized opposition only once and just about everybody agrees that Mike Burke was way too nice and pretty much handed Sly James a victory.
So, because Kansas City's voters have given their approval to just about every whim of Mayor Sly there are now plans to fundamentally change how this town works and recognize by way of legislation a fact that local political denizens have come to understand all too well - Mayor Sly James Is King of Kansas City.
DEVELOPING . . .
It'll win 60/40 with 7 percent turnout.
ReplyDeletePray it doesn't. Imagine strong mayor government with Cash from Kay in power. She'd have given away even more of the store and Glori-hoso would have been watching the piggy bank.
ReplyDeleteLong overdue. Go Sly!
ReplyDelete38,265 votes put Sly in office. Hugely popular. Epic.
ReplyDeleteThe form of government KC NOW has, is there for a reason. To keep power distributed across city government and not vest it in one, way too powerful individual. To change this now will only speed KC's mutation into DETROIT. Think about this KC, it's a huge mistake to change it...
ReplyDeleteSLY STRONG, everyone else weak.
ReplyDeleteGrunt Grunt
12:26 We already have that system. It's called the City Manager's Office.
ReplyDelete674,158 residents, 35,000 Sly James Fans.
ReplyDeleteHmmm
Those who rob Peter to pay Paul can always count on Paul's support. KC now has a lot more Pauls than Peters and ultimately there will be to few left to rob.
ReplyDeleteThere's always money in the piac stand
ReplyDeleteTwo more years of Sly and his gang and this city will be a complete wreck.
ReplyDelete12:37 with wise words. That's exactly the situation.
ReplyDeleteOver a half a million people and not a one that can stop this cabal of thieves from turning KC into a third rate, fly-over location?? Is that the situation? If so, you are all worthy of pity.
ReplyDeleteAnother rigged election. Kc Down the tubes.
ReplyDeleteIt will be his first defeat! No way in hell people are going to vote not to have a cross check of power. Too many knuckleheads in office and no one should have all the say.
ReplyDelete12:27, the CM can't spend 10K without Council authorization. For all intents and purposes the CH leadership has pretty much, single-handed, illustrated why a professional manager system will not work.
ReplyDeleteThe alternative of strong mayor/council will screw things up just as bad. But the Council will support it because they are the ones making the management decisions.
I can see Russ running the public works department now.
Hmm, strong mayor vs retarded status quo city council. Pretty sure I'd rather deal with one person than a court of jesters and their annointed lead clown city manager running the show.
ReplyDeleteRight now we have an unelected person running the city -- the city manager. If you think that's ok, then you should be perfectly happy with the way things are going.
ReplyDeleteKansas City voters are the dumbest motherfuckers this side of St. Louis.
Welcome To Detroit, assholes.
Here is the funny part you don't know Tony -- When Troy was presented with the plan he had the option to suport it or start looking for another job. You see that Sly isn't so nice when the cameras stop rolling.
ReplyDeleteMy god, 2:03, you are a broken fucking record. Detroit, Detroit, Detroit. You're getting more repetitive and annoying than N-word guy and Snore guy combined. You have absolutely no worthwhile input on ANYTHING.
ReplyDelete2:23 must be from Detroit
ReplyDeletelolz @ Detroit/KC comparo
ReplyDeleteKC is already worse
KC has way more fags than Detroit
At least Detroit prosecuted their criminal ape mayor!
If you think the current shitty manager is going to give up his $185K gig, you're going to be sadly mistaken. He'll have to be fired, just like the rest of them have been. No, the council isn't the best but it IS diverse and controls the city business much better than one lone politician ever could. I guess maybe Mr. PENDERGAST could do better??? That's where we're headed with a charter change...
ReplyDeleteMaybe a PEDERAST from the LGBT community would be better.
ReplyDeleteOh my 2:44, and I thought I'd already given a dire forecast. Well, you topped it for shear terror...
ReplyDeleteBrings a whole new perspective to "KC, The Anus Of North America", doesn't it?
ReplyDelete1:51 Thanks for your opinion Wes.
ReplyDeleteStrong mayor system, huh? Hopefully not until we can find higher quality candidates.
ReplyDeleteIf the mayor is stronger, does that mean he will get his kid to stop beating the shit outta people?
ReplyDeleteI demand from this point hence that all my tributes be paid in bananas. My lesser baboons and chimps may pilfer the garbage I leave in my wake. Detroit, hell. By the time I'm done this dump of a town it will look like the Congo.
ReplyDeleteSly and crew are engaging in a Mai Lai Massacre of the public purse. A bunch of nuts gone berserk.
ReplyDeleteSly 1st order of Business....

The system is performing the way it’s set to perform. Providing unlimited sums of money for speculators and moneybags friends of Sly, and table scraps for everyone else.
ReplyDeleteFucking Sly thinks he's Idi Amin. We all know how that story ended.
ReplyDeleteThe people of KCMO are stupid to support tax and spend Sly.
ReplyDeleteOnly hope is that the State will take over KC government.
ReplyDeleteNo, every issue he has endorsed has won in an "apathy slide." Let's be honest.
ReplyDeleteSly can just be Idi Amin(sp), to begin with, he can just eat me!!
ReplyDeleteGorilla perhaps ?
