Bo Jackson is the greatest all-around athlete to ever play pro-sports in Kansas City.
When I was a kid, I realized (again) Kansas City was full of idiots when local sports fans booed Bo Jackson, berated him and threw junk at him on the field for breaking the two sport barrier by playing football with the Raiders.
Sports fans want to rewrite history but Kansas City residents will remember that this town hated Bo Jackson for his athletic excellence and it was only after national media marveled at his two sport achievement that local fanboys jumped on the bandwagon.
This moment in sports history documented by a recent ESPN documentary is far more interesting than the parlor games going on with the Chiefs right now.
ESPN Films 30 for 30: You Don't Know Bo
In case there was any doubt that Bo Jackson really was one of the most gifted athletes of our generation . . . A quick glimpse of his enduring fan base proves my point: Bo Jackson Film Becomes ESPN’s Highest Rated Documentary
Accordingly . . .
TONIGHT THE BO JACKSON FREESTYLE IS TKC'S FAVORITE TRACK FROM HIP-HOP SENSATION RIFF RAFF!!!
I don't know if it's a tribute because I can't understand half of what this guy is saying. But I know it's damn good.
RiFF RAFF - BO JACKSON FREESTYLE (Official Video)
I first learned of Riff Raff's greatness from Byron Crawford . . . Missouri's greatest blogger working somewhere near STL.
Let's not write off Riff Raff as just another white rapper who is both celebrated and despised by hipsters . . . The man might be a genius and certainly his independent Internets video career is reminiscent of the glory days of rap music.
Obviously, the "Bo Jackson Freestyle" proves that Riff Raff has an appreciation of history.
Furthermore, I was boring a lady friend with a thoughtful post-modern analysis of my new favorite rapper and she notice that writer, junkie and basket case Cat Marnell has been featured in a few of his videos.
Background . . .
Vice Magazine: Cat Marnell Does Not Give a Sh*t
And all of this reminds us that Kansas City's long gone glory days still have a bit of influence in our nation's cultural lexicon.
So maybe the future isn't so bleak . . . For hip-hop fans at least.
Hopefully, more BREAKING/EXCLUSIVE NEWS, discussion, discourse, debate and hateration in just a few . . . STAY TUNED!!!
LOL and F-U.
ReplyDeletePart of Bo's success was due in part to anabolic steroid use. That same use is what caused him to have major hip surgeries and force his early retirement from professional sports.
ReplyDeleteSteroid use is ok for black athletes. It's part of the Affirmative Action program for non intellectual blacks.
ReplyDeleteYes, steroids tackled him from behind and broke his hip.
ReplyDeleteRunning backs don't typically use steroids, they need speed more than brawn and there is no drug to increase speed.
Buy a clue.
Maybe no drugs but hear me out when the po po is chasing you all of a sudden you can be one fast ass bitch hauling ass.
ReplyDeleteHip-Hop crap.
ReplyDeletepfffffffffffffffffffft
"Riff Raff" ??? Really?? This muthafuck should be an embarrassment to the white boy race. How'd he afford the money for the video/
ReplyDeleteIt is interestng to note, that a Cincinatti Bnegal caught him from behind.
ReplyDeleteHe was already breaking down.
KC fan boys (I like that) hated him because he didn't play for the Chiefs.
Trying to make "The Two Sport Barrier" sound like another "Sacred Black Experience" only further diminishes the receding capital capital that the "Civil Rights" movement has left. Very fuckin little. Maybe 10 to 20 bucks if I kick in today.
That'll happen.
That rapper sucks.
Jesus.
Zzzzzzz
ReplyDeleteYet you were here in the morning to suck it?
ReplyDeleteYou Lose.
RiffRaff = illiterate, unoriginal, shirtless, hair-braiding, race-confused, no-talent, brain-deficient, drug-promoting, humanoid form pile of excrement......but, then again, look who made it to the White House!
ReplyDelete11:38, you're a dumb shit. Steroids destroyed Bo's bones, causing him to need surgeries due to more severe injuries.
ReplyDeleteBo knows roids.
