It's encouraging to see so many Kansas City groups spring into action as the number of murders has spiked and the silence from Kansas City politicos is deafening.
MO House Rep. Brandon Ellington has always been a strong voice for grassroots efforts aimed at developing consensus in Kansas City's urban core . . . His efforts and those of the groups that have partnered with him are definitely worth a look.
Here's the presser for an IMPORTANT upcoming event . . .

I wonder if they obtained the proper permit.
ReplyDeleteNo permit is needed.
DeleteWill be there. Have to give credit where credit is due, this young man cares about people,in general. I have vwitness this Rep.on the state floor,he is respected by both sides. When is the last time a State or city elected officials stayed so engaged with us citizens?
ReplyDeleteThe road to hell is paved with good intentions.
ReplyDeleteYou wouldn't know due to the mere fact your intentions have never been good.
DeleteDamn you have the right to assemblle. Always a negative nut in the bunch. Go Voices Of The People not even your people go to 39th Paseo to addres crime, how many murders, crimes have been committed in that area? How many times have Reed or Curls been there? Rep.Ellington, is doing a fantastic job representing the eastside so instead of find fault you should encourage him in his efforts.
ReplyDeleteThese SCHMENDRICKS are CLUELESS. They can't even get married and have a family. It's always someone else's fault. "Police Brutality"? Go ride in those cars for a few nights. Get up close and personal with the gangsters. After all these are your children. What a JOKE!
ReplyDeleteKostar that's a low blow even for you.
Deletei be bringin de candles boss!!!
ReplyDeleteWww.electellington.com just look at his endoresments alone speak volume .
ReplyDeleteDear 9"49am aka Roach Ellington:
ReplyDeleteAnyone who knows anything about me at all knows that I would never say such a thing and you know that as well. Almost since the moment Mr. Nelson Hopkins'son was murdered in late 2009, you know very well how much I've worked to try to help reduce the violence on the east side, try to get residents to work more with the police, ride with the KCPD to help understand that side of the issue, help Brandon meet with city officils and others, and generally do everything I could be address this issue and increase public awareness of it.
A comment like yours is representative of a big part of the problem of people way more interested in their own importance and turf than in collaborating with others to help curb the carnage that is killing young black men at the rate of two every week.
You should be ashamed of yourself.
Wrong person. Hint how quickly we forget, I sat many of days in the house with both you and Nelson, when you wanted him to introduce you to "african americans" and I've listen too you over & over again talk ABOUT the drifters in reference to Adams,Adams,Brooks,Miles & Tindell ,you were the one that pushed "my blood" to met with the police, pushed him to establish your agenda to be a crime fighter. I know cause I was there and when I saw you in the courtroom after you had turned the blame on his family ,through my tears I seen you. You promised on your visits that he was going to get help, yes he got help 20 yrs worth, so before you blame someone else for what I wrote blame me , I wear his ring.
DeleteA motorcade on Paseo will look like a funeral procession and since there's been so many in that neighborhood lately, so what? In any case, a large fire at 39th and Paseo, going south, would probably be more effective at ridding the city of it's problems.
ReplyDeleteAnother march! Candles, teddy bears, posters.
ReplyDeleteApparently the anonymous posting implying I am a racist was not made by Ms. Ellington and I apologize to her for thinking they might be.
ReplyDeleteBut even more disappointing, apparently they were made by a member of the Hopkins family.
Proving once again that no good deed goes unpunished.
The motorcade/march and Town Hall meeting is organized by Voices of the People and Rep. Brandon Ellington. This is a very positive event, and is NOT designed for name calling and finger pointing. As a member of Team Ellington and Voices of the People I offer this statement as a disclamer to any and all negative postings. I do not speak on behalf of anyone else to include Rep. Ellington. We do not initiate negative non-productive activities, and will not be a part of or a supporter of any such events. The intent of Voices and Team Ellington is to continue providing positive services to the community, and to serve as a vehicle for dialogue and cooperation between public officials and the communities they serve. Please join us on the 14th at 39th and Paseo, 11:00 A.M.
ReplyDeleteI support Brandon Ellington.
ReplyDeleteNice sentiment, sadly it doesn't have Dick to do with the main cause of death for young inner city blacks, which isn't the police. It isn't the lone white gunman. It isn't mean parole officers. It isn't poverty. The root of death and violence in the urban black community is young black males. It's a lot less painful to blame everyone other than the wastes of air who are guilty. Besides, there are always people like Byron to drink the pc koolaid.
ReplyDeleteGood idea. I like Ellington, and I think this rally could be a good thing. Too bad I'm too afraid to go to that area and too smart to park my car there.
ReplyDeleteRide the METRO!
DeleteI we now up to four marches/protests/parades on Saturday?
ReplyDeleteOh what is a grifter to do?
The ultimate responsibility for all hand gun deaths lies with the gun manufacturers. You can't get shot with a gun that wasn't made.
ReplyDeleteBrandon is trying to solve the problem, exactly the way everyone says it needs to be done. He is new young leadership, which is exactly what everyone says is needed.
If you truly want things on the east side to improve, then help him. Constant criticisms without assistance is just hot air.
So it seems to me that blaming gun manufacturers for gun deaths is a lot like blaming pencil manufacturers for misspelled words. Whats next, are we going to outlaw all cars because some people cause fatality accidents? Liberals are so stupid!
DeleteA gun can't pull it's own trigger either. The guns don't cause the rage that lead to murders, if a person is driven to kill then the will find a means. Weak arguement el butthurt
ReplyDeleteI support Voices Of The People and Rep.Brandon Ellington. Great group & Rep. is a great easy guy to talk with and he is very sincere .
ReplyDeleteWho wants to bet there will be a murder within 13 hours of the start time nearby? The odds of it not happening are almost astronomical.
ReplyDeleteByrum, upon reflection, TWINK. Pretty much sums you up. One can only hope the folks in W.Virginia don't think you're a typical Missourian.
ReplyDeleteWhy blame the gun manufacturer and not the bullet manufacturer? Laying blame on the the actual shooter would be so politically un-correct. It's no wonder this current culture is in the shape it's in.
ReplyDeleteByron is a tree hugging jig! He don't wants to blames his owns people's because it makes his black folk look bad. They are animals who kill each other. I call it population control. People kill people you idiot. I can't call these assholes people. I have many guns and haven't killed anyone yet. But, when one of these thugs tries to do harm to me or my family, you can bet your dark ass, Byron, that I will have my first kill. What flavor of kool ade are you drinking tonight? Red drink or purple drink? Ass clown!
ReplyDeleteByron you are such a dip shit. You can't get shot with a gun that wasn't made. Sure. And you can't get stabbed with a knife that wasn't made. And you can't get beaten with a ball bat, if it weren't for Little League you couldn't find one, so you'd better get rid of that, too. And you can't get hit over the head with a broken bottle if drinks are put in cans, so bye-bye glass. And you can't drive and hit someone and kill them, so good bye cars and hello Metro passes for all.
ReplyDeleteYou are pathetic Byron. Go find a blog in West VA and write on their comments.
Ha. Byron slap down. Pretty entertaining. You really set your self up for that one, kid.
ReplyDeleteIf people want to kill others, they will use what is convenient and effective. Eliminating guns will start a surge of other types of deaths. We can ban until until we are blue in the face but if there's a will there's a way.
ReplyDeleteHate, rage, passion, disregard for life and poor planning kills people. Not guns themselves.
I like Byron. Even if he writes about that which he does not know, he still tries to be relevant.
ReplyDeleteBesides, anyone who has spent 50+ years with a dick for a brother like he has gets a pass from me.
Hate crimes? Police brutality? Unfair treatment of ex-felons? Wow! I think they blamed everyone for the problems in the black community except the black community. This party sounds like a blast. I bet there is a homicide and some point during the course of that meeting somewhere in the city and again no 1 will care. Oh wait, I'm sure they will blame the police for that too.
ReplyDeleteIts okay, children. As a math prodigy/chess champion, I'm quite used to being the only one who's right.
ReplyDeleteHandguns are for killing people. That's their only function. We make handguns everyday & I don't see how this will lessen the violence. We don't have to ban them, just stop making them. Its so logical that we won't do it.
