KANSAS CITY SHOCK!!! BOULEVARD ANNOUNCES PARTIAL RECALL OF OVERHYPED & HIPSTER BELOVED CHOCOLATE ALE!!!
Looks like yet another case of backfired Kansas City Hype . . . From The Boulevard Website:
"At Boulevard Brewing Company, we pride ourselves on our attention to detail. As part of our quality assurance program, we conduct extensive laboratory and sensory analysis on all of our beers, both before and after their release. This week, some post-release checks of Chocolate Ale, our current Smokestack seasonal offering, revealed that certain batches of the beer had begun to exhibit flavors and aromas not intended by our brewers, attributes not detected prior to the January release of the beer."
Boulevard is offering a refund . . . This local FAIL kinda sucks. On the bright side . . . Maybe it's the first time Kansas City Hipsters kept us all safe with their obsessive consumerism. Most of us were never able to grab a bottle thanks to local d-bags wanting to show themselves guzzling the strange tasting brown brew (ew) on Facebook.
Told ya so.
ReplyDeleteJust more evidence of the decline of the USA. Hell, now this country can't even make beer. It would not surprise me if there's a class action suit over this. Somethings are just NOT meant to be.
ReplyDeleteBelgiums are LOSERS!!!! and probably pedophiles too!
ReplyDeletegood point. They are the largest American brewer in Missouri.
ReplyDeleteFrankly, all of the batches seem a bit sketchy. I think they're just trying to get ahead of the complaints.
Love their beer, especially the pale ale and pilsner, and I appreciate the creativity and attempt but beer and chocolate just don't mix. Be like eating a big piece of chocolate cake while drinking a beer. Now beer and barbecue sauce that would be awesome.
ReplyDeleteAhh, the backlash has finally happened. It was a fine beer that was sold at extremely too high prices determined from liquor store to liquor store that resulted in widely changing and differing prices. I bet Boulevard is going to do more to care what liquor stores charge next year. Everyone that has affected bottles is going to claim they bought a bottle for $25.
ReplyDeleteThe backlash actually came from out of towners who fell into hype and paid hundreds for this swill.
ReplyDelete552, you obviously have no clue how alcohol is sold. Boulevard has no control over what liquor stores charge other than saying "we think it should be sold for..."
ReplyDeleteBullshit. Boulevard played into a bidding war when the press they bought with ads was going their way. But now that people know the beer is junk they want to get high and mighty. Sorry. Not convinced. They got caught selling liquid shit and they still want a pat on the back for it.
ReplyDeleteBeer Snob, you're full of it.
ReplyDeleteBut I am guessing you are either writing from a phone or don't know that "liquid shit" is actually spelled diarrhea. And that term can be more accurately applied to Miller lite.
Made with Fresh-Clean Missouri River Water!
ReplyDeleteOne of the best things about KC is Boulevard a home grown successful brewery. While everything else in the city is going to shit they are still making great beer. They should run the city and I'd pay more in taxes for free beer. At this point I get nothing in return crappy schools, city services and clueless leaders. Long live Boulevard. Hell even the BBQ has gone down in quality.
ReplyDeleteIt still gave me the shits.
ReplyDeleteTony thinks Chocolate Ale is "over-hyped"? Good grief, he's been over-hyping it on this very blog since about Christmas.
ReplyDeleteAnd that is this year alone.
Here's another clue for you all. If this stuff was any good, Boulevard would be brewing, bottling and selling it year-round.
Instead, they carefully market it as "scarce" and something available only once a year. It's the only way they can actually sell any of it.
We sell this stuff for 8.99 in Illinois. Sells really well. As for all the beer snobs, there is no right way to enjoy beer. Drink what makes you happy. Boulevard has beers that adhere to the purity law (which FYI was passed by the Bavarian goverment that controlled the supplies of grains and hops) and beers that infuse contemporary creativity. If you don't like it, don't buy. Just keep your mouth shut about it.
