Years from now so many Americans gathering like a lynch mob in order to celebrate the death of terrorist Osama bin Laden will be accurately defined as one of the most shameful displays in the history of this nation.
So much gleeful celebration of death documented by the mainstream media is actually quite frightening for anyone who has ever actually seen seen a human killed:
Crowds in US celebrate bin Laden's death
Former Congressman Ike Skelton, D-Mo. from The Turner Report: "It makes me proud, humbled and awed to know the last thing Osama bin Laden saw on this Earth was a trained, armed, ready and willing member of the United States military. God bless America."
Kansas, Missouri lawmakers react to bin Laden's death
Missouri parents of a 9/11 victim 'elated' by news of bin Laden's death
Kansas City Reacts To Bin Laden Death
This nation is actually quite lucky that we're not in a Holy War because last night's disgusting display by so many Americans simply reveals that in many ways the U.S. no longer holds the moral high ground in the so-called War Against Terror.
Really . . .
CAN A GREAT MANY AMERICANS CLAIM THAT THEY'RE ANY BETTER THAN SO MANY RADICAL MUSLIMS WHO CHEERED AFTER 9/11?!?!
Somebody once said something about "an eye for an eye" leaving the whole world blind and I'm actually quite surprised and saddened that this is an alternative view during this epoch of American history.
Even better . . .
A BAD-ASS TKC TISPTER RECENTLY NOTED A PASSAGE FROM THE BIBLE THAT KIND OF FITS THIS OCCASION!!!
I'm not getting all Pat Robertson-y in this bitch and moral clarity is something that has never interested me . . .
It's more like I'm trying to figure out this verse like Jules from Pulp Fiction expertly played by Samuel Jackson.
Here it is:
Proverbs 24-17: "Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth - When he meets with any thing that injures him; for God will not have thee to avenge thyself, or feel any disposition contrary to love; for if thou do, the Lord will be angry, and may turn away his wrath from him, and pour it out on thee."
There's really no arguing here given that once again so many people in Kansas City and all over the nation have been caught acting like blood thirsty plebs of the Roman empire and failing to live up to the standard of so much rhetoric and supremacy touting the superiority of one form of violence over the next. The cycle of violence in the digital age seems to do even more damage.
Rather than cheering on the streets like so many dimwit sports fans gloating about an insignificant game, Americans would would prove more productive if they worked toward an end to THREE COSTLY AND DEADLY WARS that can be linked to the chaos created Osama bin Laden and now have neither purpose nor justification. Natch.
Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI'll take my chances and say I'm very happy bin Laden is dead.
ReplyDeleteThe nearly 3,000 families of those killed on 9/11 will surely disagree with you on the over night celebrations of victory.
While I would never tell you or anyone how they should feel, I'll tell you this;
had bin Laden and his followers been successful in their mission to destroy America and the west, this blog, TKC, would not exist.

ReplyDeleteThank you Tony.
ReplyDeleteWe now have the Dept. of Homeland Security. A monstrosity formed in the fearful aftermath of 9/11. Its budget is north of $60 billion dollars a year.
The Pentagon budget is sacrosanct, north of $400 billion a year, filled with pork military projects funded by Congressmen who tack riders onto appropriations bills to keep their hometown constituents employed even when the military itself does not want the boondoggle weapons systems generated by these schemes.
14 Trillion dollar national debt.
Is free speech really that great when you live in poverty and have no healthcare because Social Security and Medicare were essentially eliminated?
America is truly bankrupt, both fiscally and morally.
How many innocent people have we killed in Iraq and Afghanistan?
What if the aim of the 9/11 plot was to send the US down the path of fiscal destruction. We bit, hook line and sinker.
T quoting the Bible?! Now THAT is rich....
ReplyDeleteCAN A GREAT MANY AMERICANS CLAIM THAT THEY'RE ANY BETTER THAN SO MANY RADICAL MUSLIMS WHO CHEERED AFTER 9/11?!?!
ReplyDelete3,000 innocents died on 9/11. One criminal died yesterday. I'm uneasy with the celebration of anyone's death, but there's no comparison between these two celebrations.
We got Bin Laden.
ReplyDeleteNext, Tony...
836 Is exactly right. It was a perfect storm and it remains to be seen if The USA survives. We've already GIVEN UP many of our FREEDOMS. Tony, I'm not sure how much you know about Eisenhower, but he had many warnings for The Nation, going forward. Not the least of which was: "Beware of the military/industrial comples". And then there was the warning of Peter Lynch to invest in companies, that could survive being run by an IDIOT, because someday that would happen. Well, that could be applied to "w" running The USA.
ReplyDeleteWhat does Chris Moreno think?
ReplyDelete@8:36 AM asks,
ReplyDelete"How many innocent people have we killed in Iraq and Afghanistan?"
Not nearly as many innocents as were killed by Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein.
I agree completely with Tee.......and God.
ReplyDeleteEverything that Osama Bin Laden hoped to occur following the WTC attack has happened. Bush 2 followed the script exactly and Obama has stepped right in to follow in his footsteps. His death means nothing; he's already won.
ReplyDeleteAlfred E Neuman.
ReplyDeleteWhat me Worry?
Here's the real headline....
ReplyDeleteMISGUIDED ARABS CELEBRATE TWIN TOWER CYCLE OF DEATH
The Source did a great job of tearing you apart.
ReplyDeleteI am surprised that anyone would dare agree with you.
9:18am - Bushnell is an oddly shaped man, isnt he?
ReplyDelete934 the source is in it for the MONEY period. jeffroe inc. is ALL about the Benjamins. They follow whatever taling points the client pays them to post. Nothing but a WAST of time over there.
ReplyDeleteThere seem to be an awfully lot of young men waving the flag and dancing in the streets over this. If they feel so strongly about their country, why aren't they in the military?
ReplyDeleteI guess it's like politics: Once you can fake sincerity, you've got it made!
If there is a party going on, count on Tony to poop it. Natch.
ReplyDeleteThe Gropings will continue until morale improves.
ReplyDeleteRizzo apparently doesn't have enough to do in new job, posting comments on people he doesn't like. If you can't keep to the subject, JJ, get off the computer.
ReplyDeleteTony, you're full of crap. There IS reason to rejoice.
ReplyDeleteMore GOOD news....Guatemalan authorities arrested an alleged drug lord wanted by both Guatemala and the United States for aiding the transit of cocaine for a Mexican drug cartel, officials said.
ReplyDeletehttp://articles.cnn.com/2011-04-27/world/guatemala.kingpin.arrest_1_mexican-drug-cartel-drug-lord-kingpin?_s=PM:WORLD
No Sir, I Don't Like It.
ReplyDeleteIf this happened a week after 9-11, TKC would be celebrating. He just wants to appear as an egghead now, though he really is just a wetback.
ReplyDeleteI went to bed disgusted. Thank you for reminding me there are some americans who understand Thou shalt not kill.
ReplyDeleteWe tried to coax him out with a piece of vanilla bean cheesecake but he declined.
ReplyDeleteThe REAL story TKC should be covering is how Twitter broke the story and "dead tree" media stays losing.
Gloating is NEVER attractive. Gloating over death is dangerous, no matter who does it. But, unfortunately, this country has made an art of gloating. Perhaps ESPN will make this the number one top-ten play of yesterday. It is very hard to feel sympathy for this man, but gloating in the streets of his death paints an ugly picture of America.
ReplyDeleteAgree. Seems to me that we should just score the touchdown, flip the ball to the ref, get back in the huddle and get ready to play some defense.
ReplyDeleteThere is no moral equivalency between OBL and America bringing him to justice. Anyone trying to make such an argument isn't a member of the intellectual elite, but the precise opposite. Serving justice IS the moral high ground.
ReplyDeleteAAAHHHHHahahahahaha!!!!! Shut the fuck up! Kill em all!!! Let Allah sort them out!
ReplyDeletehey, didn't we kill timothy mcveigh, too after he killed something like 290 innocent men, women and children? i seem to recall a lot of people were glad he died too. and rightly so.
ReplyDeleteremember, the bible ALSO said 'an eye for an eye...'.
Fuck you Tony. You really are a piece of shit. The piece of trash tortured and killed people all over the world and sent his own people to death. Anyone who has lost a loved one in 9/11 or the war on terror has every right to celebrate the event that may lead to the downfall of the terrorists. Do you believe it was wrong of the jews who celebrated Hitler's death? What if your mom had been on one of those planes or in that building? What if you had a son or daughter killed in Afganistan or Iraq? You need to get out of the safety of your mom's basement and get a reality check.
ReplyDeleteTO: rubigimlet
ReplyDeleteRead the rest of the bible and you'll find it says eye for an eye. You probably went to bed disgusted cause you vibrator ran out of batteries
Dear Mr. Tony: We had to bring Osama to justice, and since he was not going to be taken alive we had to kill him. But you have a point about rejoicing over this incident--violence is sometimes the lesser of two evils and hence has to be resorted to--but it remains an evil. Take care. Sincerely and Respectfully, Ernest Evans
ReplyDeleteTony won't celebrate the death of Osama, but he sure will celebrate the death of Brian Euston.
ReplyDeleteJesus Christ in Matthew 5:38: "You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’ But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also."
ReplyDeleteTony, Jules from Pulp Fiction's more famous comment, was, "Normally, you would be deader than fried chicken".
ReplyDeleteThat is right after guns are emptied in their direction. He and Vincent (Travolta) then argue over wether or not it was divine intervention that saved them.
Jules empties the fuckin gun into the "Flock of Seagulls white boys", just like Seal Team six double tapped a couple into Osama's melon.
"Thou shalt not kill", is historically followed by exceptions allowed from every religion and government in known history.
While I hate these wars, and am disgusted by G Bush, Cheney and Rummy, the world is more like a football than a basketball. Unexpected bounces leave Americans in harms way more often than not these days.
As long as we are there, I have no problem killing any one in shouting, shooting or bombing distance until the culture that hates us is fish food, just like Osama.
Motives and justification for conflicts are written and remembered by the last guy standing. Its way too late to piss and moan.
The Islamic fundementalists that hold sway (And they do, Tony, whine all ya want, they do hold sway.) over Islamic policies and politics in Iran and most other countries in the mideast and elsewhere, should be bent to American will no matter what.
I hope they gut shot the miserable narcissistic fuck and let him bleed out.
You all seem to be missing Tony's point. He is not questioning whether bin Laden should have been killed.
ReplyDeleteHe's questioning whether we, as a people, should be gloating over it in the streets. We are, as a people, better than that. Or, should be.
Flip the ball to the ref and get back to work creating jobs. Jobs solve everything -- from Topeka Kansas to Kabul Afghanistan
Yes John Lofflin, determined minorities, (al Qaeda) sometimes win. And when their win nets 3,000 American deaths you may rest assured America will strike back and America will also dance in the streets once the minority master mind has been killed.
ReplyDeleteThose Americans who celebrate this victory also understand the war on terror is far from over. But, just for this one day, right now, we'll celebrate.
Tonight, and, tomorrow we'll be back to work creating those jobs you say are so important. Because I believe you're right. Jobs solve, almost, everything.
Tony's only point ... is to shit in the pot, then stir.
ReplyDeleteActually, as pleased as I am that we finally got the bastard, I understand Tee's viewpoint that perhaps we should not celebrate it.
ReplyDeleteI'm reminded how US soldiers felt during and after WWII. There was no joy in the killing like there is with today's generation. They did it because they had to and it wasn't party time, other than to celebrate doing their jobs and surviving.
I found satisfaction, not joy, in yesterday's news and I thought the kids celebrating obviously had never served their country. The seemed to look at it more as a high school football victory than justice being served.
Being a Veteran, Expert in Marksmanship, I wonder when I hear, "We got Ben Laden", we ain't done shit! How many of those we's ever killed anybody?
ReplyDelete2:38, as a fellow expert in military marksmanship, I'd offer that the triggerman who got him in the eye was acting on behalf of an indignant nation. Those of us who took satisfaction in the justice share the responsibility; all of our fingers were on that trigger. Well, at least mine was.
ReplyDeletewhats the difference of the blacks and hispanics going up to smelsers house then this or any other hispanic get together. i for one welcome the satification knowing bin laden is dead and buried at sea. they should have just dumped his ass from the helicopter over the ocean i just hope the sharks dont get sick
ReplyDeleteWhat we learned?
ReplyDeleteAll it took to kill Osama Bin Laden was a Navy Seal Team we did not need to invade Iraq, Afghanistan, etc, etc after all.
Tony peed in my corn flakes.
ReplyDeleteInteresting they left the Buried at Sea part out until today.
ReplyDelete3:48... he probably wasn't dumped into the ocean until near the end of the 24 hour period after his death. I expect they did plenty of forensics on him and it took awhile to get all that done, the funeral and having him on the carrier.
ReplyDeleteI suppose you think LBJ killed JFK too, right? And the moon landings were shot on a Warner Brother's sound stage?
that's nothing. Tony is really Elvis in drag!
ReplyDeleteSome dumbass was actually holding a sign that said "USA 1 Bin Laden 0"
ReplyDeleteUmmm, I'm pretty sure he won this one overall.
I'm a New Testament type of Person. I prayed for Bin-laden. Vengeance is mine saith the Lord.
ReplyDeleteFor everyone that lost sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, or other family or friends or both in the War on Terrorism, my prayers are with you. I hope you have peace in your heart and keep your lost loved ones meaning and purpose alive in your heart so their unselfish sacrifice will not be in vain and their memory will live on in your good deeds.
As someone who values life it takes a bit of thinking to be able to celebrate a person's death. Yes, this world is better with him gone and all, but somehow, someway, I feel a tinge of guilt for celebrating a death. Also, I am reminded of the Muslims in Gaza who 'celebrated' when the towers went down, and feel we should be able to take the higher road. I think we could be pleased with the death of bin Laden without the celebrating part.
ReplyDeleteRight on, 7:15. Has anyone noticed that none of the leaders, including those watching in the one photo in the situation room of all the security policy makers, pres, vp, and hillary, nobody's smiling? Nor any other national figures of either party? Nor firemen nor mayors nor victim family members?
ReplyDeleteThat should be instructive to us.
A trained soldier in battle will never rejoice over the death of his enemy.
ReplyDeleteA trained soldier in battle knows that war is hell and he will not willingly give his enemy cause to prolong this hell by giving his enemy more resolve to continue the fight.
A trained soldier knows that to end the war one must give up the fight.
The fight will never end if there is cause for revenge!
Vengeance is Mine said the Lord. Not George Bush's and not Barack Obama's. And not yours and not mine.
ReplyDeleteCelebrate when there's an end to poverty or Cancer or genocide. Not the death of a man who became merely a symbol of the decentralized violent hate for America we've spread along with our cultural imperialism.
RadioMan KC is one cool character, he should have been in Vietnam with me, so he could pull the trigger, as his indignation would have been justified for killing a people that were ready to invade his space and freedom in america. I am about the business of protecting my homeland and family from ALL enemies, FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC. 5/2/11 10:06 PM You are a wise insightful person.
ReplyDeleterubigimlet "GREAT"
Radioman KC, I would never trust you in my foxhole.
Civilian body count Iraq - over 150,000
ReplyDeleteCivilian body count 9/11 - 3000
Whats worse?
Shouldnt americans really be calling for the trial of Bush?
