TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! LAST MINUTE BIG MONEY POLITICAL CONTRIBUTIONS REVEAL THAT "SAVE OUR PLAZA" IS JUST ANOTHER KANSAS CITY SPECIAL INTEREST!!!

There has been so much confusion in Kansas City politics as of late.

Political contests always bring talk of hope and change but this latest crop of candidates actually represent a move backward to a more conservative and less dynamic time in local government. There's no money for big ideas and all of the bad, old notions regarding public subsidies and the effectiveness of insider connections seems to be the prevailing school of thought.

And then there's just straight up lying.

To wit . . .

KICKASS TKC TIPSTERS HAVE DIRECTED US TO RECENT 11TH HOUR PRE-ELECTION DONATIONS FROM THE "SAVE OUR PLAZA" GROUP TO KANSAS CITY POLITICOS!!! CLEARLY, THESE BIG POLITICAL BETS ARE REMINISCENT OF SPECIAL INTEREST TACTICS AND NOT A GRASSROOTS PROTEST MOVEMENT!!!

Let's take a look and provide you d-bags with the appropriate links . . .

Just a few days ago "Save Our Plaza" hit Northland Council Dude Ed Ford with a check for $1000.

From the VERY SAME ADDRESS AND DATED THE VERY SAME DAY Council Dude Sharp gets a check for 1000 bucks as well.

The sweetest outpouring of support goes to 4th District At-large Leader Jim Glover and his campaign which earned 2 GRAND from the "Save Our Plaza" group.

What does it all mean?

Two things . . . Obviously, the smart money is all three of these dudes to stay winning in the election today.

More importantly . . .

THE "SAVE OUR PLAZA" PIGS AND PEOPLE INVOLVED IN THIS MOVEMENT AGAINST MORE PLAZA OFFICE SPACE HAVE NOW BEEN CAUGHT MISREPRESENTING THEMSELVES WITH POTS AND PANS PROTESTS AND PRETENDING TO BE A KANSAS CITY NEIGHBORHOOD GROUP!!!

IN FACT, THESE BIG MONEY DONATIONS TO POLITICOS REVEAL THAT "SAVE OUR PLAZA" CREEPS ARE NOTHING MORE THAN ANOTHER SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP ATTEMPTING TO BUY INFLUENCE!!!

With big money to throw around at the last minute, "Save Our Plaza" members have more in common with real estate speculators and land barons . . . If they want to play the political game and attempt to purchase influence with big checks, KANSAS CITY MEDIA MUST REPRESENT THEIR INTERESTS PROPERLY!!!

Furthermore, it should be noted that "Save Our Plaza" pigs are risking a great many Kansas City jobs that benefit the local economy merely for the luxury of their high dollar views and a nearly incomprehensible "aesthetic" concept. The inherent selfishness of big money political donors is to be expected, but it's unforgivable that this group of cretins disguise themselves as a typical grassroots neighborhood concern and even worse that The Star didn't bother to investigate their big money moves while KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS connected the dots and help to properly identify yet another Kansas City special interest attempting to pose as something they're not. Natch.

  3. True 8:02. $4,000.00 is not much to get excited about spread among 3 campaigns.

  4. End politics as usual. Vote for John Crawford! Send old-time politician Jim Glover and his closeted-Queer henchman Kevin Hennossy packing.

It is not too late to vote against Jim Glover!

  5. I think you mean "aesthetic" concept, not "atheistic." Unless the godless heathen hordes are planning on taking over the area.

  6. Those scumbag, influence peddling lawyers aren't going anywhere!

  7. Anything new Tony?

  8. Friends of Plaza is telling donors that they can make tax deductible contributions. If that's the case, don't IRS rules restrict them from lobbying? I'm confused by how they can be doing this.

  9. Glover and Ford have been calling around soliciting checks. Sharp rarely does anything without $. It's the lay of the land to ever get an audience for any issue in KC.

  10. Vote against politics as usual!

    Vote for John Crawford.

  11. The SOP crowd is out of control and completely dishonest about who and what they are. Truth is it is mostly a bunch of rich folks living in the two residential towers nearby who want to protect their precious views. There is no right to a view and the taxpayers of KCMO should not have to pay tens of millions to put this building elsewhere just to protect a few people's views. Further, the SOP group is violating the law by claiming to be tax exempt 501(c)(3) and at the same time lobbying the city government. That is a blatant violation of the IRS code and/or misleading to anyone who donates to them and is told it will be tax deductible. Can't be both a lobbying entity and tax deductible but then it is clear that SOP and its leaders such as Cofran don't care about the law or the truth.

  12. Where are the journalists in this town? It's a sad day when I have to go to TKC for news as well as opinion. And we wonder why the old guard continues to get elected. SMH

  13. So people want to contribute to a campaign to save the architectural integrity of the Plaza?

    Is this a crime?

  14. The decline of the Star has allowed for increased corruption. Public officials now know that there's little chance for their to be a serious investigation of there activities. TKC and the Pitch have done some stuff but they offer no where close to the reach that the Star one provided.

  18. Another Midtown Mom3/22/11, 12:38 PM

I could have told you this Tony, well before the expense reports came out. There are actually two groups of people committed to "saving" the Plaza and they both are full of myopic home owners who are pretending that they are being persecuted. I only wish this money would have been dedicated to more security.

Rule #2. Play the game better then everyone else.

  20. $4,000.00 is small potatoes people and I doubt it will buy any politician studying the proposal and making an informed and appropriate decision. Wise up readers. More noise about minutia. Keep writing Tony. The Kremlin needs guys like you!

  21. 1000 can easily by votes for a Kansas City councilman. They sell their votes cheap.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Plaza is probably the only thing left to save.

Everything else, except for downtown is wrecked beyond repair.

    ReplyDelete
  23. They even have sample ballots they are handing out at the polls. Telling voters that these are candidates who support the plaza. Same candidates who got checks.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Save Our Plaza is NOT a 501(c)(3) so if they are telling people that contributions to the group are tax deductible, they are lying. And yes, $1000 will easily buy Ford and Sharp's votes.
