KANSAS CITY UNIONS CONTINUE TO LINE UP BEHIND SLY JAMES FOR MAYOR

** AFSCME, SEIU, ATU choose Sly James for a safer, stronger, smarter Kansas City **

KANSAS CITY, MO – Today the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 500, the Service Employees International Union Local 1 – Missouri Division, and the Amalgamated Transit Union Local No. 1287 endorsed Sly James for Kansas City mayor.

The three unions join the Kansas City AFL-CIO, AFT, Firefighters, Operating Engineers, Laborers, and Heavy Construction Laborers in supporting James.

“We are endorsing Sly because he will provide the leadership Kansas City has been lacking for the past four years,” said AFSCME Local 500 Vice President Charlie Hull. “Sly has a plan to jump-start the Kansas City economy and make our city government more efficient – and most importantly we believe he’s the best candidate to generate job growth in our city. That’s something that’s sorely needed around here. I believe he will accomplish great things for our city and the working men and women who live here.”

“I am very proud to have the support of these Kansas City unions and their members,” said James. “I appreciate all that they do to make our city work, and I hope to serve them well by focusing on the issues that affect them most, like creating jobs, getting Kansas City’s economy growing again, giving families access to early learning opportunities for their children, reducing crime, and making government more effectively and efficiently.”

Sly James’s agenda for Kansas City is based on the “Four E” platform of employment, enforcement, education, and efficiency. Detailed information on James’s ideas and agenda can be found at www.slyjamesformayor.com.

  3. Now I know who to vote for. If the local 42 supports Sly, I'll vote for Mike.

  4. Is this the same leadership that supports anti-labor development in the urban core? The same anti-labor democratic leadership that Airick Leonard West provides? If so, I'll pass.
