TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! COUNCIL DUDE ED FORD CLAIMS HUGE KCFD OVERTIME BUDGET OVERRUN SINCE MAST TAKOVER!!!
The consequences of Kansas City's MAST takeover seem to be at the forefront of issues which confront candidates facing voters this election cycle.
Remember that TKC noted declining response times . . . And then mainstream media confirmed this report.
The latest chapter in this hot mess:
AT THE CITIZENS ASSOCIATION SCREENINGS COUNCIL DUDE ED FORD SAID THAT SINCE THE MAST TAKEOVER THERE HAS BEEN A $300K COST OVERRUN FOR KCFD AMBULANCE SERVICE OVERTIME!!!
Remember that a potential savings was the main arguement for the consolidation from Mayor Funkhouser and all of the Council who voted for the takeover.
Still, this $300k is a paltry sum compared to the $30 Million MAST Pension Price Tag that now confronts The City Council and could tarnish every incumbent if approved.
In the final analysis, this issue could be crucial in the upcoming election given the looking E-Tax debate that could drastically cut the City budget and so many elected officials torn between Local 42 influence and the voting public resents so many expensive City Hall deals that never live up to expectations.
I'm shocked.
ReplyDeleteThis is the same OT as before the takeover. I don't understand why this is a surprise now when it wasn't then. You can't run a business like this without OT. It's not like you can just not staff the city on days when it snows, or when there is a presidential visit, or a chiefs game, or a royals game or anything else. You have to have extra staff on hand to handle emergencies when the need arises.
ReplyDeletePeople go home sick, they take time off from work. This isn't a factory job where you just leave a seat unfilled. You need to staff things.
The other option is to hire more people, then you are paying full time wages and benefits when you don't need the extra staff at slow times.
It's lose lose with you people. Nothing is good enough. All this stuff is is an attempt to discredit the ambulance workers and the fire department. That's all people want to do. They want to tear things down instead of building them up.
Typical politics.
I don't think it was "the people" that have torn down MAST.
ReplyDeleteTony be CAREFUL, you know arithmetic and Ed Ford don't mix.

ReplyDeleteThe OT for EMS is way down under the KCFD. Get your facts straight before you post shit.
ReplyDeleteThis is exactly the type of extortion that Louie Wright is famous for...Making the deal before sharing all of the facts with the other side. His credibility is shit in this town.
ReplyDeleteThe overtime has increased by nearly double. Quick trying to run your scam 42.
ReplyDeleteWhich political whores are getting endorsed by the firefighters for the next election?
ReplyDelete"and could tarnish every incumbent if approved. ". Most definitely. And approving this will cost the city the eTax approval thus cutting the fire department budget by 60% or more.
ReplyDeleteAnd people want to know why people are voting against the E-Tax.
ReplyDeleteCity Hall is just throwing away taxpayers money.
The funny thing is that overtime for city would be worse if they had to pay all the 24 hour ambulances overtime for anything over 40 hours!..We don't meet FLSA..there have been lawsuits..to prove my point!
ReplyDeleteWhy is the city allowing a new academy class to start in January? How can the FD justify HIRING when no one else can? How can they justify HIRING when the FF are not going to get the raises they had been promised?
ReplyDeleteThe Fire department is one of the worst rip-offs of the Taxpayers money.
ReplyDeleteKCFD is made up of mostly good people being led around by one of the filthiest pieces of scum to walk around on two legs... Louie Wright. Until Louie is gone, they will be a corrupt organization.
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, $300k in overtime ain't much. Ed Ford just needs something to crow about, since his campaign is falling faster every day.
Considering how much OT was being paid, I think this is a huge improvement.
