A change up in a local tradition provides a major coup for The Queen of Kansas City Talk Radio and really a benefit for all of Kansas City.
THIS YEAR DARLA JAYE IS GOING TO EMCEE THE MAYOR'S CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING IN CROWN CENTER!!!
There are a great many reasons for this move . . . Conservative Radio Talker Chris Stigall dumped Mayor Funky from a regular Friday segment after a Kansas City unanimous City Hall vote against Arizona immigration law. In turn, Mayor Funky dumped him from the lighting ceremony.
Also, let's be realistic . . .
Once local radio stations started using more accurate PPM technology to rate radio audiences it was revealed that Stigall has a tiny audience composed of mostly nasty reactionaries.
Finally, last year there were widespread complaints that Stigall simply made the event far too political and frustrated not only members of the audience but also the executive class Hallmark.
Darla promises to focus simply on the Holiday Season, Christmas and one of Kansas City's most beloved traditions.
So now you like Mayor Funkhouser for his choice of the conservative host who invites you on her show? You can't keep your vapid story lines straight anymore. You're embarrassing yourself.

Did stigall show up in that Gestapo outfit? Rarely has there been a photo that captures the essence of an individual, like the one TKC uses of stigall. Darla is a good choice. Darla is neither mean nor petty. She's an UPGRADE.

Of course, she fails to mention how many years ago or how soon she gained it all back. Not that I care about her weight - I just think she's a nutcase. Exactly what Gloria would be looking for.

ReplyDeleteFunk is a joke. Now he's paying Cathy Nugent, a big friend of Roe's, 10k to set up the tree. As I recall, a few years ago that was a volunteer position. Now they have to pay people to do it. Sad.
