While I'm opposed to "high art" on general principle I find the hype surrounding the upcoming Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts exceedingly distasteful.
Over the weekend corporate media engaged in widespread propaganda for the place with barely a peep mentioning that Kansas City Taxpayers are picking up the tab for parking at this posh place. Even worse . . .
SUPPORT FOR THE KAUFFMAN CENTER PRETTY MUCH HOPES THAT WIDESPREAD GENTRIFICATION CONTINUES IN THE URBAN CORE OF KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI!!!
Invariably, so called liberals show their teeth whenever their party plans are called into question but it was almost completely unnoticed that an apartment full of low income dwellings was recently torn down in the shadow of goofy looking structure.
Speaking of, as the Kauffman PAC takes shape, the place is really starting to look like a collection of seashells. Specifically, I'm reminded of the three seashells from that crappy Stalone flick Demolition Man.
Furthermore, let's talk about the hubris of Kansas City development.
THERE ISN'T A DEMAND FOR EVEN MORE PERFORMING ARTS SPACE IN KANSAS CITY!!!
From the almost always empty Music Hall to Kemper Arena, The Kansas City market is already glutted with struggling performance venues. Also, this Cowtown is consistently more excited by Country Music and embarrassing homespun fare than any of the "high art" that Kauffman supporters hope to bring.
Put simply, The Kauffman Center is a leftover design from the era before The Great Recession that now makes such extravagance seem foolish.

ReplyDelete"The Power of Positive Thinking"
You need its message desperately.
This blog is starting to become a constant Tony rant about his feelings of inferiority. Agree with anon 10:01. Either get some DIY help or seek out some professional advice.
ReplyDeleteOf course some people really are inferior and maybe you're one of them.

Tony's looking at this blog with his dick in his hand and his finger in his ass.
