Local news media might pretend to "break" this story but it was as predictable as the plot from the classic 90's sexploitation flick Showgirls.
We already know that strip clubs are losing money thanks to Matt Bartle's prudish and puritan approach to Missouri legislation. But just that's just the beginning of the story.
IN THE COMING WEEKS LOOK FOR LOCAL MEDIA TO REPORT ON STRIPPERS TURNING TO PROSTITUTION AS A CONSEQUENCE OF ADULT BUSINESS OVER-REGULATION!!!
The stories are already out there and they involve strippers setting up shop in local casinos and other places around KC.
Once again silly GOP legislation failed to have any foresight about how people really behave and the consequences could have a serious public health impact on this town. Only the most disconnected legislator (like Bartle) could imagine that Kansas City's tradition of vice could be wiped out with the stroke of a pen.
Clueless Republicans simply didn't understand that strip club adult entertainment work offered a viable alternative for local women who wanted to avoid more hardcore activities . . . Creating fear over highly regulated clubs and basically cutting away their business with regulations hasn't decreased local vice but probably doubled it.
Plain and simple:
BARTLE'S BIG GOVERNMENT CRACKDOWN ON MISSOURI STRIP CLUBS HAS BACKFIRED!!!
While the constitutionality of it will soon be drawn into question, once again the Missouri GOP simply increased the quotient of local misery on behalf of their phony principles.
Excuse me, can I get a room number with this story.
ReplyDelete???
ReplyDeleteTony, I'm sorry - what's your mom going to do now that she's out of work? Hit the streets, like you reported?
ReplyDeleteRegulatons served the state better. What you have now is a anything goes policy that is being learned about through word of mouth. Good job Matt.
ReplyDelete...and you can expect the same or more clergy and politicians to seek out the "new" strippers-turned-hookers working out of their new found avenues, since their previous employment has been squelched into non-existence.
ReplyDeleteAnd they can get it all for much cheaper. Good plan, Bartle! LOL
I guess Republicans are fans of BIG businesses, not all businesses. I guess they are fans of limited government when it fits their narrow world view.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see the hypocrisy exposed.
Ummm didn't the Crats also vote for this law?
ReplyDeleteI am getting the impression Tony's Mom is/was a stripper. he seems a little too close to the family angle of the issue.
In the final analysis, it's a matter of character and self-respect. Some people have none.
ReplyDeleteLay off of Bartle man.
ReplyDeleteYou're such a hater.
If you couldn't keep your dumbass out of strip clubs because you have a seriously sick compulsion that you don't want your family, friends or supporters to know about and you figured out a way to close those dens of sexual lust down and put them out of business so you wouldn't be tempted by those young and supple teen bodies, wouldn't you do it?
You know you would.
And now that he's closed them down in MO, keep a sharp eye out for him in Olathe and Lawrence.
Tony, I completely agree with you on this and I never agree with you. Bartle is an imbecile for thinking he was doing something good for our community. I do not go to strip clubs but I have nothing against them or the people that frequent them. What he did was hurt a lot of businesses and put a lot of people out of work. And if people don't think the new laws will affect convention business in KC, they are truly ignorant. All it's going to do is enhance our image as a bible belt cow town.

ReplyDeleteI agree with you, & Tony, as far as you go: This isn't about morality, its about poverty. Prostitutes don't spread their legs because they like sex, or men. They do it from desperate poverty. They feel they don't have any other choice. I know because I've done volunteer work to get these exploited women of the streets & into real jobs that allow for some dignity & some hope of a better life. Its difficult work & we have a small success rate, because of their poor self-esteem. They are often addicted to serious drugs that they started using to cope. Our society blames the prostitute when its the johns who are sick. If you really want to help, then give a prostitute a chance: give her a real job.
Like I said yesterday...join PETA and do nude protest in the club on the street etc.... Free Speech dude...
ReplyDeletematt bartle is the devil. just look at the guy. he just looks evil. Not only is he against small businesses but he was against finding cures for sick people in missouri as well. that guy needs help.
ReplyDelete8:04 have you seen Tony? his moms gotta be way to ugly to strip.
ReplyDeleteIs licking that pole sanitary?
ReplyDeleteIf we changed the law so that customers could be pulled out of the audience and f**k the strippers onstage, would that help? I sure don't want any strip joint owners to suffer or have any of the girls turn to prostitution on the street.
ReplyDeleteThis was Bartle's plan all along. He loves getting his tiny little "stripper pole" licked. However, he also values a discount. With more strippers out there the price drops for Bartle's weekly activities. Thus, trickle don economics works. ewwwww.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you have to denegrate Tony's mom? I don't agree with him ever, but come on. Seriously. That's totally uncalled for. And I'm not kidding on this. It's totally off color. I don't know the lady, or have ever seen her. But leave moms out of it.
ReplyDeleteIts moms we're talking about.
ReplyDeleteSingles for single stripper mom's. Anything less is unamerican!
ReplyDeleteNo Moms but Tony can help fuel rumors of a Johnson & Conger affair? Got it.
ReplyDelete2:23 What is it about that seat that causes close encounters between Councilman/Aide?
ReplyDeleteThe insanity of morality standards, enacted through legislation never, NEVER works.
ReplyDeleteThe war on drugs, booze, strippers et al, it never works.
Time and time agian, some "Jesus on speed dial" homophobe fucktard with mommy issues, erectile dysfunction and a really swell suit gets all the rubes worked up over a Sunday sermon, and of course, those fine folks want to fix YOUR life.
Its expensive.
Business' shut down, prison sentences for newly created offenders, marginalization of the downtrodden schmucks who try to make a living, any living that pays better than wearing a carboard hat.
The usual pecuniarily insouciant plutocrats, and kleptocrats, in power by way of birth and blood as opposed ot sweat and effort, keeping us safe from our more base desires.
Thanks Matt, and legions of other dolts, dipshits and demigogues who achieve personal and political catharsis through infliction of economic and real time pain on others.
Disgusting.
3:28 I don't know what some of those words mean but nice post!
ReplyDeleteHey, Chuck. Do you feel the same way about the Michelle Obama trying to tell us what to eat?
ReplyDeleteMichelle keeps yacking about childhood obesity while her rear end gets bigger and bigger.
ReplyDeleteYeah.
ReplyDeleteI don't need anyone telling me what to eat.
I am a conservative and I don't agree with what Bartle did. He accomplishes nothing and affects so many lives and livelihoods.
ReplyDeleteWhy is it that guys like Bartle always get in trouble in their personal lives??? Time will tell...and we know it will......When his personal doo-doo hits the fan, I will be rolling and laughing so hard. Just wait, people that scream morals are usually immoral themselves.
ReplyDeleteAlso, no in seriousness, think about all the supporting businesses that depend on these entertainment venues. Food, beverage, sound and stage design, costuming, cleaning, etc. Those people are all loosing clients. Money is money and these small businesses are taking a hit.
Now if I could just get my own going out of business sale brass pole for my own home, life would be good.
Good news for the "Hobby". Escort rates are moving to 1980's levels due to the influx of stripper skanks. It's great.. strip clubs we're mainly BS and rubadub...now these gals have got to really put out.
