TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! WHY WASN'T MIKE FANNIN'S MUGSHOT PUBLISHED IN THE KANSAS CITY STAR LIKE SO MANY OTHER LOCAL PO'FOLK?!?!?
More than any other news organization in Kansas City, so many employees of The Star demonstrate a startling sense of hypocrisy and entitlement everyday.
For instance, the serious accusations of Jason Whitlock against Kansas City Star editor Mike Fannin have heretofore been unaddressed by the so-called paper of record.
Off the record, there has been so much chatter and even more gossip about "FANNIN'S SHENANIGANS!!!" (that one's mine) and even I've heard some interesting stories. For instance, my favorite newsie story about suppressed information at The Kansas City Star involves old school divorce documents circulating among newsies who were disappointed to find nothing in particular but curious enough to look up and share among one another like students passing notes in class.
It seems to me that The Star has no problem putting the info of so many other Kansas City residents on blast when it comes to mugshots. My contention is that given the racial disparity of so many minorities and po'folk locked up in the U.S., it's an attempt to maintain the status quo. We are living in the era of mass incarceration after all. Then again, RATHER AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS SHOW US that when a angry looking dude like Mike Fannin turns up under arrest in Wyandotte County in 2005, The Star looks the other way and there's no real reporting.
To me, Whitlock's lack of professionalism and crazy-sounding, crying rant seemed more like the antics celebrity than a journalist but I'm starting to think that his comments about the toxic environment and Kansas City's paper-of-record might have some merit after all.
And since it's obvious the public can't count on the media to report on their own misdeeds, THANKFULLY RATHER AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS COME THROUGH WITH INFO THAT'S OPEN TO THE PUBLIC BUT NOBODY ELSE WILL DARE PUBLISH!!!
Natch.
Hellz yeah.
ReplyDeleteYou got a point, Tony.
ReplyDeleteHmmm. Must be a Democrat.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking a 5-year-old arrest (for what, by the way?) falls into the "don't care" category.
ReplyDeleteTony's reaching
ReplyDeleteThe Star suckssssssss
ReplyDeleteWhat was the charge?
ReplyDeletewho cares, is right. besides, the star doesn't publish every single mugshot of every single arrest made anyway.
ReplyDeleteI guess you think your a great reporter, WAKE UP.. you blog from your mammas basement, now go upstairs get some cookies and shut the fuck up.
ReplyDeleteThere you are Mike!
ReplyDeleteLove how the KCPD wraps all arrested peeps in a wool blanket. Gives them a rather classy monk look.
ReplyDeletesweet.
ReplyDeleteYou're right in that The Star doesn't report every single mugshot. But they would publish every single mugshot of any other arrested journalist or rival paper employee. So why not one of their own? It's news isn't it?
ReplyDeleteHey Tony, remember how you are going to be 0-3 on election day for your endorsements? HAHA! Here it is!
ReplyDeleteI don't think they published her mugshot, but Rhonda Chriss Lokeman's being stopped for DUI certainly made the Star. And she was married to the publisher.
ReplyDeletewhat is charge dbags???
ReplyDeleteLokeman's arrest was covered in The Star only after virtually every other media outlet in Kansas City had long since covered the event.
ReplyDeleteHere's a question, what is the status of 3 Wheel Lokeman's DUI case?
This is great. I like seeing the worm turn and put the shoe on the foot of the harasser.
ReplyDeleteI hope all of those assholes in management at the Star get sent to prison for their drug dealing ways.
ouchy.
ReplyDeleteJohn Altevogt, a conservative GOP activist from Wyandotte County, also welcomed Coulter. "Ann Coulter is logical, rational and an independent thinker," he said.
ReplyDeleteRock on John.
I like it.
ReplyDeleteYes, I did say that, and proud of it.
ReplyDeleteFar superior is Ann to the likes of a Miriam Pepper, or handmaiden to corruption, Baba Shelly.
ReplyDeleteHandmaiden to corruption? How about an explanation, Coultergeist?
ReplyDeleteThe news media is a weapon of personal destruction.
ReplyDeleteJohn is a true man and if he drove drunk he would drink his beer piss rather than hurt the public. Can't say the same for Mike.
ReplyDeleteThank you Tony for being KC's other news source!!
ReplyDeleteHmmmm.... I'm guessing that 8/24/2010 would be Derek Donovan the Star's librarian/head censor/"readers" rep/ food reviewer/ theater reviewer/ shine boy/parking attendant/ and gofer. (Check the IP Tony, I'm betting I'm right.)
ReplyDeleteTell us Derek, were you the boy toy Fannin allegedly smooched up? Is that why he tolerates your unethical behavior? Are we going to find out he had yet another affair with an underling?
If the shoe fits, wear it, and the term Stalinist and the phrase handmaiden to corruption just always seem appropriate when one takes a close look at The Star.
Nice library work, Derek. You should hide in there more and stay away from anything having to communicate with another human being. And wasn't it you who repeatedly referred to anonymous posters as cowards?
Hey, incidentally, thanks for doing all the research. Saves me time to explain things. Just follow Derek's links, folks. By the way, here's one he missed.

If Derek is anywhere near as cute as his photo, who can blame Mike? I'm guessing John's jealous.
ReplyDeleteBut seriously--handmaiden of corruption? Stalinists? That is so last century.
< Stalinists?>
ReplyDeleteActually, it's the term Nazis he likes.
Why is no one commenting on how manly Fannin looks in his mugshot? Is it so wrong to down a few at KCCC with the best reporter since Hedda Hopper and then drive all swirlvely? That wool looks kinda itchy, though.
