TKC EXCLUSIVE AND THE SATURDAY NIGHT PLAYLIST!!! KANSAS CITY COUNCIL REDISTRICTING FACES UPCOMING TEMPORARY RESTRAINING ORDER!!!
Remember that before any other news outlet in Kansas City, TKC TIPSTERS revealed the "rush redistricting" of City Council Districts that's currently underway at City Hall.
The latest scheme from The City Council is based on a silly idea that involves a screwed up committee with no time to meet the dumbass (and unconstitutional) requirements of The Current Charter. Funny aside, behind closed doors The City Council just doesn't want Mayor Funky to have much input into this process and they don't mind telling him so face to face.
Never mind that there's NO DATA from City Hall regarding the racial demographics of the proposed district and gerrymandering is pretty much a guarantee with some of the silly plans already on the table.
To wit, because of the grassroots opposition to this doomed effort, TKC TIPSTERS don't mind noting . . .
PLANS ARE UNDERWAY TO FILE A TEMPORARY RESTRAINING ORDER AGAINST THIS REDISTRICTING PROCESS IN COOPERATION WITH MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL!!!
Members from throughout the African-American community spoke out against this effort to rob their community of representation at the "Committee As A Whole" meeting on Thursday.
Now let's get into more detail:
TKC TIPSTERS contend: Local Attorney Clinton Adams, City Council Hopeful Michael Fletcher and Urban League President Gwen Grant have been working on organized opposition to this move.
Adams, as always, has been working to rally Community support.
Fletcher, just as TKC noted is already becoming a strong organizing force in Kansas City's African-American Community, and he seems to be one of the main forces consulting on the serious legal challenges underway.
And Grant is making media appearances which often confuse people who might think a Lauryn Hill comeback is underway with an even more screwed up hairdo.
In any event, thanks to TKC TIPSTERS, this blog has lead all other media outlets on coverage of this misguided effort that could seriously threaten the voting rights of Kansas City's Diverse Communities.

ReplyDeleteGood comments about no leadership, especially no black leadership in the city. And I thought Fletcher was supposed to be a "new" face, but it looks like he's tied into the same old "you're a racist" crowd.
ReplyDeleteIf the council has any guts or any integrity, they'll redistrict by using the numbers, not by listening to a little gang of people who are interested only in themselves.
Why do we keep trying the same thing over and over, and then expect different results? Look at the school district, which at least has a chance of success with its new leadership.
Most of these self-proclaimed "leaders" would be exposed as frauds just like the Wizard of Oz, if someone would just pull away the curtain.

9:59 you sure seem to know a lot, maybe an ex? but where are these medical records you claim prove what you are saing? the cab driving thing--again, it turns out that Fletch proved--in court--that he PAID the cab driver BUT "Ms.Fletcher Fucked Me and Said He Loved Me" why don't you write those facts or do they show you are just some bitter angry chick.
ReplyDeleteI have litigated cases against Fletcher, the truth is that I don't care for him personally but he should never have been disciplined--as a "white guy" I can tell you Flethcer has been treated differently than other lawyers, judges don't like him because he doesn't just lay down like most lawyers and he is black.

ReplyDeleteNo, actually J. Leonard Hughes III found Fletcher guilty. The medical records were introduced at trial. For BOTH eardrums. This was Fletcher's hideous defense: That he broke the OTHER eardrum.

Although he later paid off his wife, the medical records are still in a safe place.
Convicted felon, and former Judge Deborah Neal "found" Fletcher not guilty of stealing from the cabdriver. Deborah Neal is a gambling addict who repeatedly asked for money from attorneys.

Both Hughes and Neal are African American.

ReplyDeleteI believe that redistricting should be based ONLY on numbers. We should not be basing anything on race, color, creed, gender. It's the content of your character. Period, end of discussion. I also believe that we need new leadership in all districts in the city. Let's get some people in there that have NO puppet strings attached to them!!!

ReplyDelete9:51 is an insurance company attorney who made out like a bandit because Fletcher can't try a case without major problems. Riley fed Fletcher cases who got a fraction of what it was worth if he had to try it. But Riley tried to get them settled for a whole lot more.

ReplyDeleteThe thing that gets me about Fletcher is how he and his supporters keep repeating the same, unprovable lines in the hope that they will be believed. Saying white lawyers and white judges hate him will not make it true. Saying he was a good lawyer will not make it true (and no, making lots of money does not necessarily mean you were a good lawyer). Saying he was denied his rights will not make it true.
ReplyDeleteAS a final thought: the judiciary is an easy target because ethically, it cannot fight back. So, he can spew his hate for the many judges who agreed he acted inappropriately and loudly claim he was denied rights -- knowing full well that he is wrong and that the judges cannot and will not respond.
Why is it if African-Americans ever have a choice of whom to support, people act like it's a grand plan to "split the vote"? We have a substantial African-American population, it's okay if they have a choice.

ReplyDeleteHe was not railroaded by anyone because they were scared of his success. Fletcher was disciplined for failing to follow ethical rules. His lack of a hearing is nonsence, as he had a hearing in fedaral court. The decision was affirmed. Missouri imposed discipline on him because that is what happens: if you are disciplined in one place you are disciplined everywhere else. Missouri said he will not be reinstated until the federal court reinstates him. EOS
