Today in the Business Session there was a nice bit of preview of an impending hot mess reported first by one of the MOST BRILLIANT TKC TIPSTERS AROUND!!! Natch.
People really interested need to go on the City's site and check out the business session for themselves.
Overwhelming Northland growth is basically going to be redistributed. It's sad to see the 3rd District still losing population.
THIS REDISTRICTING ALREADY LOOKS LIKE IT WILL SCREW WITH UPCOMING ELECTIONS!!!
Sept. 21st is the new deadline but even that is in flux. This hot mess might not even be finished by Nov. 9th.
Funnier still . . . There will be some public testimony on this one AND THERE JUST ISN'T ENOUGH TIME TO DO IT RIGHT!!!
The process took 28 map redesigns last time.
Wednesday at the P&Z meeting will begin even more Kansas City fighting.
Expect more lawsuits thanks to City Hall looking at this issue way too late. The only bright side, TKC readers found out about this trainwreck first. Natch.
Horrible.

We want to be sure that everyone scrambles to get THEIR OWN PIECES of the pie as it gets smaller and smaller. And we certainly don't care who represents us as long as they're one of our own. Looks like a really good way to keep things just as screwed up as they already are.

ReplyDeleteWhy re-district just before an election. Stupid.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that the Co-Mayors are behind this!
ReplyDeleteThe City Council meetings are the best daytime soaps ever created. Who would of thought real life is better than anything that is made up. It would be fun if the citizens of Kansas City could just change the channel and get a new show. And the Daytime Emmy goes too.....
ReplyDeleteThe Charter calls for redistricting. It says you cannot have three consecutive elections without redistricting.
ReplyDeleteLook for a fight over the third district. It has gotten smaller and will have to expand. If it expands to a predominately white area, Freedom will start to howl.
It's gonna be ugly.
What's wrong with spreading the political influence to where people are actually living?
ReplyDeleteSo the core is shrinking in population or just providing habitation for illegals?
This is how it should be. Cry all you want inner city folk, but until you start registering real voters your shrinking population dictates a shrinking voter area.
Each district must have a certain amount of people in it. You can't draw disconnected lines.Right.
ReplyDeleteSomeday south of the river will have 2 districts and north will have 4. Not that we want more people up here, it's just that they want to be here. Can't say that I blame them.
ReplyDeleteWhy not make Swope park from about 39th all the way to 95th? Just raze it and plant grass. Maybe a nice golf course.
