Rather AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS hinted at this story two weeks ago but now it looks like it's breaking faster than anybody expected. I'm posting what I've got in hopes that I'll get a bit more once more details are available . . . But, as usual, I wanted to make sure that I was first. Natch.
The Sitch:
REPORTEDLY, THERE IS A GREAT DEAL OF RANK AND FILE KANSAS CITY FIREFIGHTER RAGE OVER PENSION ISSUES FACING LOCAL 42!!!
Most of the hot mess involves recent City Council and Mayoral Maneuvers on Ordinance #100606 and #100607
There are a litany of complaints, allow me to summarize:
The most relevant complaint seems to be background chatter which claims the city ordinance will remove the pension members ability to select by vote their representatives on the Pension Board. Apparently, "this has pissed off a majority of the Rank and File members of IAFF Local42 and Local3808 (the Chiefs Union)."
Additionally, "the other proposed ordinance changes include Domestic Partner Benefits and an increase in the Retirement Benefits. These two improvements are viewed as positives, however neither has been vetted thru the appropriate process at City Hall," The source continues, "Neither was researched to determine the cost to the city that would result. So if neither has had a fiscal note on file, they both might be illegal due to the violation in process."
Finally, there is a more interesting question about Domestic Partner Benefits requested in this ordinance and good law in The State Of Missouri.
The entire issue has Local 42 challengers to Louie Right taking note as the issue is referred referred to Finance and Audit Committee and could draw even more heat this week.
Developing . . .
Noooooo
ReplyDeleteFirefighters: Work 4 days a week, bitch and moan the remaining 26.
ReplyDeleteLater Louie!
ReplyDeleteGovernment workers across the nation are going to be feeling pension reductions... most of those were negotiated in GOOD TIMES but those times will NOT BE RETURNING! Nobody mentions it, but we are in what amounts to a DEFLATIONARY PERIOD. Maybe food goes up a little but housing has fallen, and companies are putting out cheaper products by taking the quality out of them.
ReplyDeleteWe know this. Better quality goods from windows to houses to cars, to nuts and bolts and tools, are all more flimbsy, made with cheaper materials, etc. Just to keep sales up.
We're gonna be living with less... salaries are falling when you get laid off and rehired at a lower rate.
Pensioners will suffer too. Bitch all you want. Be smart. Save more. Put more in Individual Retirement Plans because you'll be needing it. And you'll find that health care copays will be going up but health care has us by the nuts... and wants as much of our money as they can get.
Dig in. Quit whining. And thank our republican friends for giving corporations the keys to the national chickencoup!
WHO VOTED FOR THE MAST MERGE INTO KCFD?
ReplyDeleteThis crazy ordinance by funk'd is a salve (well, it was meant as a salve but the blasted bastard funk'd fucked it up, NATCH.)
Fire fighters will be saddled with PAYING for the MAST pension. And HOW MUCH IS THAT LOUIE LOUIE?
LMAO. Where are those fatty MAST employees who stood with Louie Louie during the debate? STILL living out of the city and worried about the work load, no overtime split shifts and fire fighters determining if an ambulance is needed on site. dumb asses.
Tick tock. Tick tock. Time is running out for Louie and Sherwood.
ReplyDeleteFirefighters: Work 4 days a week, bitch and moan the remaining 26:
ReplyDeleteWe are away from our loved ones and our own beds for 99 hours every two weeks. We are bitching because Louie wants to take away more from us than he already has when he sold us out to take on the ambulances. We have given up days off for no extra pay. We are working extra shifts for straight time, due to an emergency clause, because of the budget. There are other areas affected as well, all because of the asshole Louie. It is time to get rid of the bastard! He once was a good leader but has let his power make him bad.
When a person gets enough power it's inevitable that it will eventually go to their head. That's what we are witness to here. Louie Wright thinks he is entitled, by right of birth to run both the city and the county without ever having to run for office and get elected.
ReplyDeleteAnd to the post that the firemen whine and only work 4 days a week (assume you meant month but don't know your head from your ass), the pension they are trying to protect is their benefit that they were promised hired by the city and it is in lieu of social security. Perhaps if you or your family members ever have an emergency in which they save one of your lives, you'll appreciate them just a little more and realize that they should be entitled to retire some day just like the guy with the airconditioned desk job and no stress who'll be collecting from social security some day. Louie Wright shouldn't be allowed to put hundreds of people's futures at risk simply because he and his ego need one more piece of the pie.
Those former MAST employees that were promised a pension upon entry into the city, that are paying 4% out of their checks, would like to know where the hell that pension is. They are paying into this pension mystery land, which is really a non interest bearing escrow account. So why is 4% being taken out of the checks if there is no pension?
ReplyDeletebye bye Louie!
ReplyDeleteTuck your tail between your legs Louie and slink out of this city before you ruin it completely! And take your slimy minions with you. You should all be ashamed of yourselves.
ReplyDeleteMy name is Tony.
