Let's think about what happened at the "Committee As A Whole" meeting regarding rush Kansas City redistricting of Council Districts currently underway.
Most of the a-holes on the Council are in closed session right now so let's review the more interesting aspects of the meeting:
In the Council part of the talk . . . The only thing that's clear is that City Staff don't have much information AND the passage in the Charter calling for this hot mess isn't really clear when it comes to avoiding the trampling of voting rights.
To me, the highlight in the Council Discussion was that City Legal folks don't want to say much about an impending lawsuit that all of this will undoubtedly incur.
As always, the public testimony was most interesting.
A board member From The Greater Kansas City Chamber Of Commerce Started off the session by noting The Chamber wants The Council to wait on this rather than rush.
Kansas City Political Consultant and Democrat Machiavelli Steve Glorioso set the tone and noted that "While I know all of the Council Members and believe they all act ethically, 9 incumbents taking on redistricting in such a hurried manner can give the appearance of impropriety."
3rd District Activist Brandon Ellington started with one of the words of the day and noted the potential of "disenfranchisement" over this rush move that could potentially take votes away from his district.
Guadalupe Center Executive Cris Medina was the highlight of the session for me.
MEDINA NOTED THAT THE LATINO POPULATION IN KANSAS CITY IS RESPONSIBLE FOR 40% OF KANSAS CITY'S GROWTH!!!
And we all know . . .
LATINO STUDENTS NOW COMPRISE MORE THAN 20% OF THE POPULATION OF THE KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI SCHOOL DISTRICT!!!
"Whether or not you decide to redistrict, it's important for Latinos to have representation and a place at the table," Medina said.
School Board Member Crispin Rea echoed these statements and urged consideration for Latinos who have seen population grown in every Council District throughout Kansas City.
Urban League President Gwen Grant wasn't so nice . . . She called out Council Dude Ed Ford and pointed to the Charter and the popular vote being overturned in the case of Clay Chastain's light rail scheme. Also, noted that "Black people can't elect an at-Large candidate in a predominately Black district," while noting the reign of Cindy Circo. Grant seemed to be speaking legal action to stop the rush redistricting process and further "disenfranchisement" of Kansas City's Black vote.
My favorite woman in Kansas City, Carol Coe spoke up for The Black Agenda Group and once again noted the lack of data for completing the redistricting.
Local Attorney Clinton Adams kept his remarks brief, called for a stop to the rush redistricting and also noted the lack of "appropriate data."
Basically . . . Nearly everybody in the crowd hated the idea. Without Certified Census Numbers in hand . . .
THIS HOT MESS OVER RUSH KANSAS CITY REDISTRICTING IS BASICALLY A QUESTION OVER WHETHER OR NOT THE CITY CHARTER TRUMPS FEDERAL ELECTION LAW . . . IT DOESN'T!!!
Developing . . .
No sir, I don't like it.
ReplyDeleteI think I just stepped in a hot mess.
ReplyDeleteMuslims need a district with sharia law.
ReplyDeleteGlorioso still has his stinky finger in everything around here?
ReplyDeleteI seriously wish this guy would be banned from Kansas City permanently.
lolz.
ReplyDeleteGo Crispin!
ReplyDelete20% of the broke ass KCMOSD is illegal aliens now? why am i paying for this shit??
ReplyDeleteMove.
ReplyDeleteLet's leave the districts as they are and make the residents move.
ReplyDeleteRound up the usual suspects! The only time you ever hear from most of these people is when their own egos and self-importance is being threatened by new faces or new ideas.
ReplyDeleteThis is the very kind of thing that keeps things just the way they are; great for a handful of self-appointed "power brokers", and lousy for everyone else.
Let's have a really open process for redistricting.
You DIDN'T say Carol Coe is your favorite KC woman!
ReplyDeleteMoron.
For Glorioso to mention impropriety is a joke. He REEKS (literally) of impropriety.
ReplyDeleteAt least Funky continues to be put in his place and the Council members are standing up to him instead of being pushed around. He could beat on his gavel all he wanted and try and push for what he wanted - but Herman and Circo stood their ground. He just needs to step down and step aside and realize how over his head that he is.
ReplyDeleteThe offical numbers need to be in and the districts need to be left alone - if people want to move to another district let them. Stop changing the boundries to please a few people. That is as bad as when the school districts re-draw the boundries for schools. Leave well enough alone and focus on the real problems of this City. I.E. Unemployment, Homeless, Under-Employed, Etc. This does NOT MEAN SCHOOLS FIRST!
Identification, has been the bane of humanity.

Confuscious (Little drunk again here---still- yes Confuscious) said 6500 years ago--he needed to re-think, here it comes-----the "Naming of names".
We live our lives in our heads---our perceptions of reality, is in fact --- reality for US!
The name -- car, truck, person, sky, universe, god, air, love, hate, every name. Every name, because he thought that anything you could see or hear, or touch or feel, changed with every fucking godammn microsecond.
Every concept, idea, religion, thought----THOUGHT-that is what we see evey second, is change.
Every cell in your fucking cocksucking body id dead every 7 years.
Google it---look at more than one website grasshopper.
Every seven years, there is NOTHING that your can touch with your finger, on your flesh, that existed 7 years before.
So--what the fuck are we??? what the fuck am I?
Our identity, aquired by way of thought and concept is a fleeting thing indeed.
Nothing is real.
Everything we know (Still gotta try and survive--Zebras run and lions kill--identitiy.)is wrong.
Everything, the ideas about life, nationalism, chauvinism, everything you think you know--is wrong.
Here is what pisses me off---so fucking much.
I don't get it. I look into the abyss, meditate, try to kill the fucking PRONOUNS---cus goddamn the pronouns--life is totally about bad pronoun references and violence that is concomitant with same---fuck pronouns!!
Here is my toast tonight!!
FUCK PRONOUNS!!!
rename---the names---with oriental, not occidental predjudice.
Predjudice here tkc fucking moron is a metaphor.
Alcohol destroys more lives than all other drugs combined.
ReplyDeleteSome languages don't use pronouns since they're kind of redundant.
Wonder how he/she is feeling this morning, about right now.
ReplyDeleteGwen Grant aka TIF Commission contract steerer said what? Not a nice woman/Man whatever. I personally think she is her brother, Clinton Adams, in drag.
ReplyDeleteI am surprised slappy Alvin "Jolson" Brooks wasn't down there kowtowing to the establishment.... Oh yeah... this redistricting would actually have deep political/social implications for the people that live in the 3rd district. Why would he be there? No grieving mothers to hit on at a redistricting meeting now are there Al?
ReplyDeleteChuck, you said I had some personal issues but what did that pronoun do to you as a child?

ReplyDeleteThat is BS. The growth is all in the Shoal Creek Valley of the northland. Look at the actual numbers!
