Here is a bit of 1st person reporting from a rather gully TKC TIPSTER on the scene of tonight's Plaza ruckus:
"Bigger and Better than last week. The police were out in numbers that I could only compare to the art fair . . . Approx 300 kids this week. Large fist fight broke out in front of Standard Style. Officers walking around with pepper spray. Kids did get sprayed on at least one occasion that I witnessed."
Another report: "I've never seen so many young Black people on the Plaza in my life."
This AWESOME TKC TIPSTER Report to TKC continued, "They looked scared too."
Some reports are saying as many as 1000 young people were gathered, loitering on The Plaza.
All the TV stations where down there. Mill Creek was full. Everyone was watching. The police helicopter was out. 47th and main was blocked.
It was nothing less than a riot.
Previously . . .
TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! POSSIBLE PLAZA RIOT AND CRIME REPORTING ALLEGATIONS!!!
TKC TIPSTERS HELP THE PLAZA!!! TKC RIOT STORY PROVIDES MORE SECURITY!!!
Time for KCPD Officers to get out from behind the desk and get to work fighting crime in this city.
ReplyDelete(Please don't tell us you don't have enough Officers. Headquarters is full of officers acting like personal secretary's to commanders.)
And set aside your off-duty businesses and help the citizens of Kansas City.
It was probably Terry Riley, hoppin' mad about the TKC post about him!
ReplyDeleteit waz da bomb.
ReplyDeletefucking wild down there. Literally a zoo.
ReplyDeleteIt was a mess. Highwoods better get a grip on this or the Plaza will be sunk.
ReplyDeleteBannister Mall redux
ReplyDeleteThe Prom kids were out in full force tonight too. Their stories to mom and dad will have some parents on the war path. This can no longer be swept under the rug.
ReplyDeleteTerry's just glad the post about his investigation was moved further down the page.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I were out for a late night dinner and on the way home we decided that was the last time eating out at night at the Plaza. Not worth it. I was very uncomfortable being there. It was pretty bad.
ReplyDeletereposting this since i missed this post earlier:
ReplyDelete"There is literally swarms of black people wandering around the plaza, blocking traffic and a handful of cop cars and cops walking around looking official. Also there's a helicopter with the spotlight out just tracing 47th street. A fight broke out in one if there groups of like 30-40 or so people. Anyone know what the eff is going on?"
Chimp Out!
This shit has got to stop. I'm going to call on Chief Corwin to pull out all the stops. Each officer should carry 3-5 tasers and several pepper spray canisters the size of fire extinguishers. If any of these groups of kids so much as farts funny they should be pepper sprayed, tased and severely pistol whipped. After a few dozen of these idiots get carted off to Truman Med (or the morgue) shit will settle right down. If the chief won't get behind then the Plaza Merchants Association will hire Blackwater or Xe whatthefuckever they call themselves now.
Chief Corwin's is probably not even in town. He's probably on another "conference" trip somewhere, like Australia, Canada, or Israel. I guess we're on our own here in Kansas City.
ReplyDeleteFucking embarrassment to Kansas City.
ReplyDeleteThese are problems that should of been figured out 200 years ago. It is only fitting that they would come to a boil in J.C. Nichol's planned neighborhood.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.kansascity.com/2010/04/10/1869741/police-use-pepper-spray-to-break.html
ReplyDeleteYou can read more here. It was BAD. Very dangerous and unsafe situation.
Fucking amazing. Can't believe they don't have it under control on The Plaza.
ReplyDeleteThis is dangerous.
And Cordish are idiots right? We'll see who the idiots are when the Plaza is a ghosttown.
ReplyDeleteCould this be the result of the class warfare that has been pursued by the Obama folks? These kids are emboldened and enjoy making mainstream people uncomfortable. These kids know they scare people in fashionable areas and they relish that knowledge.
This is a deep problem and will result in a further decline of Wetsport and the Plaza and then out to Brookside/Waldo.
So much for a "post racial" society. The last time that many white kids were in that vicinity they were stoned at the Volker Fountain.
Look for the race card to be thrown at KCPD and for it to become an election issue. All while 95% of the minority community didn't vote in the school election, doesn't support 18th & Vine and 70% of the fathers of those kids are no where to be found.
For those of us from the 60's who supported real opportunity and freedom for minorites and have been open minded, this is all very sad.
You have good intentions but your arguement does not make sense.
ReplyDeleteCordish relaxed the dress code and they have not had problems. You seem like you are arguing to "keep the blacks in their part of town" and that is stupid, ignorant and wrong.
OK 7:34 what is your suggestion(s)?
ReplyDeletePeople who seek to create discomfort and chaos should be isolated. Call it "their part of town" if you want. If you think otherwise then you are "stupid, ignorant and wrong" and worst yet naive and idealistic which to a great extent is the root of the problem.
ReplyDeleteCan't the City Council get the police to do something about this?
ReplyDeleteCorwin's too political to fix it.
ReplyDeleteDEY BE WILDIN'
ReplyDeleteKMBC TV Reporting "hundreds of kids running through the streets and pounding on cars". Winsteads closed early for "safety reasons".
ReplyDeleteOk Tony and your Brookside liberal followers rationalize this.
I'm a woman who worked on the Plaza during college and got engaged at Fedora's 25 years ago, which tells you I have a l-o-n-g perspective on the Plaza. It has a proud history as one of the nation's first outdoor shopping and entertainment areas and as a safe place to walk and enjoy. It is UNFAIR to the merchants, peaceful pedestrians and paying patrons to permit mobs of people to congregate, jump out in traffic, pound on car windows and disrupt the flow of this once-lovely area. To those of you who would call this a "race issue," like the poster who charged we "want to keep Blacks in their part of town," or such words, I say YOU are just a race-baiter. As a patron of any venue, I am happy to mingle with others of ALL races, nationalities, colors, whatever you want to call it--AS LONG AS those other patrons, like me, behave in a mature and presentable manner. GOING INTO ANY AREA WITH THE INTENTION OF THREATENING, DISRUPTING AND CAUSING CHAOS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE, NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE. These groups of young thugs should not be protected by the shield of political correctness or be exempt from a demand they behave in a civilized way. The FIRM HAND of law enforcement had better intervene here. Thugs be warned.
ReplyDeleteCall in an air strike.
ReplyDeletePounding on cars is going to result in a shooting down there. People would be surprised by how many affluent guys(who frequent places like the Plaza)have concealed carry permits and they will all be packing, locked and loaded (if they ever care to go down there again) after hearing about this shit. It's gonna happen.
ReplyDeleteThe Police are not doing there jobs crime in Kansas City has been OUT CONTROL for years.
ReplyDeleteAll they're going to say is they don't have enough people or money... well that argument is NOT cutting it anymore. Where is all this money going? Not to public safety.
"Can't the City Council get the police to do something about this?"
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately no. The Chief reports to the Board of Police Commissioners
I went to the KCMO Police site but the Commissioners page is out of date with no way to contact them.
This is what happens when the "Hood" run amuck and ruin places for the rest of the good minorities who just want to shop and hang out and have a good drink.
ReplyDeleteThey ruined Westport and the Plaza. They ruined Ward Parkway Mall. They are ruining Independence Center right now.
Soon, because of political correctness they will ruin Zona Rosa and Legends.
I live in the Northland and Zona Rosa is already losing business. I noticed a lot of shops closing.
ReplyDeleteI've been in race riots, or 'wildings' and they are very scary because the scene turns into a New Jack City mentality. It gets really weird, surreal.
ReplyDeleteThe difference between this incident and riots in other cities back in the sixties, is that the blacks doing this aren't doing it in 'their' part of town. The race rioters in Detroit and LA looted and burned black business.
Why is this happening? Perhaps it's a response to the tea baggers who are not so subtle in their racism. The symbols on their signs are inflammatory. And their staged rage is pretty scary to lots of people, not just people who share Obama's color. Why? Because they get the attention of both the media and the politicians.
It may well turn violent because that's how Americans deal with things. Isn't this ironic... America's first black president and fear on the streets. Perhaps we haven't come as far as some of us had hoped.
Reminds me of a phrase I heard forty years ago. "It's going to be a long hot summer." We were at war THEN too.
It's not about the Tea Party movement.
ReplyDeleteIt's about a bunch of young, black gangstas fucking it up for everyone else who just wants to have a good time.
Looks like Cordish wasn't a idiot after all.
Is there anyway for a person to contact the Board of Police Commissioners?
ReplyDelete4/11/10 8:43 AM -- was right the police page has no information on how to contact them.
Apparently there's been another shooting.
ReplyDeleteKANSAS CITY, Mo. --
Police said
a shooting in Kansas City early Sunday left one person with serious injuries.
Officers said they were called to Eighth Street and Monroe Avenue just after midnight.
Otavio Silva, the husband of Kansas City Star reporter Jill Silva, said he received a face full of pepper spray while he and his dinner party were walking behind a large group of young people. Silva said the youths were walking down the sidewalk and he hadn’t witnessed them misbehaving when a police car pulled up and officers told them to “move on” before unleashing a blast of the chemical spray.
ReplyDelete---- And thank you for shopping on the Plaza.--- Now have some pepper spray.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure the 'teabaggers'/tea party and the outrage against Obama on health care is not coming from the kids on the Plaza. Do you not remember being young? At 16-23, national politics are really the last things on your mind.
ReplyDeleteNot to say that there aren't teens who are politically involved or up to date, but I guarantee you that's not what most of these kids are up to. Even if it's a 'planned' wilding (i.e. Facebook, twitter) by political adversaries, the kids aren't there for that.
The riot was mostly in the 31st and Indiana area in the 1960's. Clarence Kelly was Police Chief and cordoned off all but that area. I70 only extended to the Blue Ridge Mall and it and 40 HWY had National Guard roadblocks in place. This was pre ACLU and before we had a leftist - class warfare President.
ReplyDeleteA Facebook account noted "metro buses full of youth" entering the Plaza. Crystal Ball: Look for the KCATA to shut off routes from the east side into there (It may or may not work). Look for google to pickup media accounts (of "Plaza Riots" which will pop up when regional travelors search "Plaza Kansas City".
ReplyDeleteYou read it here...
Also, look for Art Benson to file suit. (he doesn't give a damn about KC). It's going to be ugly and there'll be litigation no matter what happens. Everything KCPD tries to do will be captured on video and Council candidates will posture the whole thing.
Our City Counsel, Mayor and Police Department are so screwed up. They can not seem to get anything right from potholes to snow removal. YET they want MORE money. Just say no folks time to take a stand. NO more money! No new Taxes.
ReplyDeleteI hope more riots occur. Maybe then, one of these black kids can put a bullet into a cop. That will guarantee enforcement gets stepped up.....until then nothing is going to get done.
ReplyDeleteHe was right this mornings TKC story is already coming up on Google. Goodbye Plaza Tourism, Hotels, Shops, $60 steak dinners and Horse and Trolley rides.
ReplyDeleteSadly, it's all over.
I disagree that young people are not politically aware. They may not know their senators and what a fillabuster or supermajority is, but they've seen the images and the Obama backlash.
ReplyDeleteGiven that Obama's the brightest president since Carter and Eisenhauer, a slam is a racial affront to his color.
Sorry, but I don't think middle aged people going on Social Security are that worked up over federal welfare. It's something else. I've been gettng the hate emails since Obama became a possible nominee.
The most telling was a photo of a 747 marked "Watermelon One". Yup we're in denial about our racism, always have been since the feds rolled into Little Rock and stuffed a sock in the governor's mouth on the school steps.
No, I think young people are quick to take on a cause. But lets not forget, that we in the sixties who faught against what we're now FOR, also had fun doing it. You dont' remember the comraderie and getting in 'the man's face?
For awhile, P&L was the symbol last year, but the Plaza's always been the prime symbol of apartheid in Kansas City. Financial apartheid especially because it's always been expensive.
Guess the preemptive pepper spray is going to be called WWB (walking while black?)
When three or more darkly complected are gathered in front of a designer store west of Troost, its a riot. And big corporate money will be on the phone come Monday to stop this before it becomes a habit.
Wonder if the CCPlaza merchants should pack up and move to Stanley? Where WILL the last of the white people settle in a hundred years?
Radioman, now we know why even TKC implies u r a fucking idiot. Go to the TV websites and view the footage.
ReplyDeleteRadioman...now it's understandable why TKC even implies u r a fucking idiot!
ReplyDeleteI'm a merchant on the Plaza. This past poor Christmas sales made things tough now this. I can't run a business in a "pepper spray" environment. I've decided it's time to cut my losses and move on. Our City government just doesn't get it or it just doesn't care. You can't let a whole city's infrastructure die and expect business to stay.
ReplyDeleteBlacks should be embarrassed and shamed by such behavior. Not surprisingly, they don’t seem to care. (Like the high numbers of murders!) Meanwhile, whites should simply not tolerate or allow others to justify what is basically domestic terrorism perpetrated by brainless, unsupervised, low IQ groups of functional illiterates.
ReplyDeleteSooner or later, I fear, it will reach a breaking point, when these flash mobs will be suddenly confronted with flashes from legal firearms aimed by whites defending their families and places of business. Certainly, no one wants to see that happen.
This shit is why there are 35,000 homes vacant in Detroit. KC has excellent suburban choices and this looks like the beginning of another exodus wave.
ReplyDeleteThere needs to be a concealed carry flash mob convention next weekend on the Plaza. That outa do it.
ReplyDeleteRadioman KC...It's almost amusing to read your posts. Your perspective on this issue is so misguided. Your reasoning/suggestions in the last post just support the notions established by your earlier comments - you're an idiot. From a youth's perspective (17), I can assure you this group of black kid's behavior last night was not designed to be a political statement. Why are people so eager to try and justify this type of behavior when it comes to minorities?
ReplyDelete12:43 p.m: Well said. These thugs who intentionally created a Flash Mob to intimidate Plaza patrons, banging on car windows, had better hope they don't encounter those of us who are legally packing heat with concealed carry. We have the right to peacefully enjoy our evening without threats and interference from these animals, we have the right to defend ourselves and our loved ones, and we FULLY intend to do so.
ReplyDeleteThank god for CC you can not depend upon the KCMO Police. This shows you that your on your own !
ReplyDelete12:47...glad to see someone gets what I was saying. RM is an idiot.
ReplyDeleteRadioman, you really are an unenlightened fool. What silly comments you spew.
ReplyDeleteWhen capitalism [in this case retailism] is under seige, the "usual" politics must change to a "real" politic mindset.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, the city did not react to last weeks inital salvo. Now, it must react immediately.
I would recommend:
1. That a curfew go into effect. Furthermore, keep it in effect as long as the need is required and,
2. A strong consideration that the National Guard is called up.
Believe me, the breadth of the riot around the Plaza area was much less in '68 - though certainly very heavy in those enclaves where most of the rioters lived. The national guard AND a curfew immediately went into effect on the Plaza - a huge revenue generator for the city than, as well.
No thoughtful person would ever want it to come to this. But our city leaders have one week to come to grips with this.
It needs to be dealt immediately and as strongly as possible.
This will certainly look bad public relation-wise and God knows what effect it will have on tourism this summer. But longer term, and without any strong measures to deal with the situation right now, the Plaza's viability as a city landmark could be permanently impacted.
Afterwards [hopefully] there will be plenty of time to sort it out.
Bring the Rev in so he canj fix this and all the while maybe cook up another "spitting" incident.
ReplyDeleteAfterall he's the one who said this stuff wouldn't happen if the city built all of the Community Centers, strong armed local companies into funding the Boy's Club and cooked up 18th & Vine. We'll be hearing all of the same BS again on this. Yes he's also who said, "the whites have the American Royal $ now we'll get our $ for our area" (18th & Vine). Tens of Millions on facilities to "just give the kids something to do" and this is what the Community gets. People need to face it... behaviour is a personal value system and too much of the urban society hasn't been raised with any values at all. $ thrown at teen activities doesn't get it solved if families aren't available for these kids to learn to act.
I agree I think we need the National Guard. The local police seem unable to handle the crime in kansas city.
ReplyDeleteI looked at the KC City's police site and it doesn't even mention anything about the incident.
So I guess Westport is a safe place now.
ReplyDeleteThese youngsters will be adults soon. This does not bode well. They are better informed than given credit for and damn well empowered by the current political atmosphere. They are showing how an underclass remains an underclass (deservedly so) but in the meantime there will be serious consequences for mainstream Americans of all races - imncluding African Americans.
ReplyDeleteRadioman, you’re right this is about the Tea Party movement. This story made me WANT to join the Tea Party.
ReplyDeleteWhy in the hell should my hard earned money go to these losers acting wild in our city?
The Ghetto/Loser mentality has destroyed so many shopping/entertainment areas in this city and from what I read in the comments people are tired of it.
The Ghetto/Loser has destroyed Bannister Mall, Ward Parkway Mall, Westport, and The Plaza. Independence Center is starting to become infested with the Ghetto/Loser, so I’ll give that place three more years before it gets destroyed.
But yet, Obama says that I have to give money to these losers. I have to give these guys free healthcare, welfare and give money to dieing public schools districts like we have here in KCMO.
And yet, while they get more of my money, they’re still not satisfied. They want more. They claim their poor, while wearing $120 pair of Jordan’s, $70 Rocaware Jeans, $60 Rocaware shirt and a $33 New Era ball cap.
They say they have nothing to do while they have a computer, Blue Ray player, Xbox 360 and an IPOD at home.
They have all the advantages to stop being losers, but why do that when it pays now to be a loser in Obama’s America.
And since I know Tony will make this a racial issue I have a question for him.
Why haven’t you talked about that Fat, black, drug addicted piece-of-shit who killed that poor white kid on 71 highway?
Everyone know that if the killer was white and the dead kid was black you would be all over this.
The atmosphere in Kansas City is unsafe.
ReplyDeleteTime for White Power to take their country back. I mean seriously revolt like it's 1776 all over again.
ReplyDeleteEnough of this shit. Blacks think they've got it so bad in this country because they were once slaves?
BS! Go back to Africa and see how lovely it is.
This is just a shame! Maybe we should take donations and build them a skating rink on the east side so they have somewhere else to go and kill each other.
ReplyDeleteOn a serious note what is that generation going to look like when they are middle age? Jobs? Education? still saggin?
Another idea we should get the REV's together to get "their" people in line!! The Rev are: Jesse, Sharpton, and cleaver. They should do something, besides tell s lies about spitting. They could spin this into
ReplyDeleteWhitee's fault
Living in Leawood close to State Line, we're happy to say our local Police Dept. is highly professional and extremely well-equipped and trained. The sort of thing that happened at the Plaza would be dealt with SWIFTLY snd DECISIVELY here. There would BE NO "second weekend in a row." End of story. This is not to denigrate the hard-working officers of the KCPD. It is a shame they have to deal with this. There are good reasons why people seek out the suburbs: Better schools (where more of the parents KNOW and CARE where their children are hanging out at night and whether they are causing mayhem), and to distance themselves and their families from moblike, violent behavior. Hopefully KC can get this under control and restore peace to the venerable Plaza district. But if the thugs are inclined to migrate to Leawood next, DON'T EVEN THINK AOBUT IT, A**HOLES. YOU WILL NOT LIKE THE CONSEQUENCES.
ReplyDeleteThis is why merchants are LEAVING Kansas City. Poor city and police response to city service issues.
ReplyDeleteLeawoods cops are only trained in traffic tickets and fines. Is there anything to do in Leawood? Or is Leawood sucking off the the teet of OP? I guess you have Rachmart!! Hells yeah I am going to ranchmart.................Holla!
ReplyDeleteSorry Leawood give time outs!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIn reply to Sean's snarky, ignorant and uninformed comment, I had the privilege to attend weeks of informative seesions at the Leawood Citizens Police Academy. Leawood officers are trained and equipped to handle the most serious threats that can confront any law enforcement agency in the country, including national security emergencies. I was amazed and impressed by the depth and breadth of the officers' knowledge and experience. Sean, consider yourself spanked.
ReplyDeleteNot about race. It's about what the people want.
ReplyDelete10:39, you're right, it's about race.
ReplyDeleteSo I want to know why hasn't Tony talked about that fat piece-of-shit who killed that white Independence kid on 71 highway?
That SOB had an arrest list a mile long. Why wasn't he in prison?
Obama's America, where the loser is a winner.
I am seriously considering leaving this city, and not because of a bunch of bored unattended kids.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I am appalled and terrified of the white people who have just espoused unveiled bigotry on this comment board.
I was there last night. I was far more terrified of the cops' reaction than I was of the gaggle of urban youth.
To reference them as otherness pejoratives is as dehumanizing and straw-manning as the rhetoric toward the real ghettos by the media and the populous of the Germans.
The thought of homogenized JoCo's carrying a gun is more nauseating than youngster's F-ing S Up.
Congratulation's Kansas City, Your racism has made me throw up in my mouth.
Were you there last night JoCo? Or were you hiding in your acre-lot bomb shelter clutching your cache of firearms in one arm, and covering the eyes, ears and mouths of your children with the other arm?
exeunt daniel.
enter glenn beck.
"I was far more terrified of the cops' reaction than I was of the gaggle of urban youth."
ReplyDeleteI agree they were spraying pepper spray ALL OVER the place.
The police seemed uncertain as to what to do.
I don't pay much attention to name callers who can't debate the issues. Think I'm an idiot? What were YOU doing in 1965? And '68 when RFK, MLK and Malcolm X were murdered? I remember that 65 was the year evrything changed in Kansas City. I spent plenty of time all over KC that year. Blacks just quit putting up with our shit in silence. They learned it from the California activists.
ReplyDeleteI was in the military in the late sixties where people of both colors, many of whom had never mixed before, ended up bunkmates. There were the battles of the loud stereos. About the only thing everyone shared were drugs.
Again where were YOU? You just don't like what I'm saying. Go as your dad. He's my age. I didn't get this out of a book. I saw it.
And have you ever been to New York? Explain why people of every color get along so well?
I think readers of this room especially, are pretty parochial. All the issues and viewpoints are being raised in here. Maybe not so many liberals.
Sadly, the only one who doesn't get name-called is Anonymous. BTW, tony gets called a lot worse than idiot in here and sometimes he does deserve the title.
Especially his race baiting.
My view is that the best way people won't be at each other's throats is if they're too busy working, earning money, and shopping. There's a lot of idle kids in this town, especially on the east side. A lot of idle kids on the west side too, but they have video games to play. They don't get out much.
Those of you calling people names in here, step up and tell us what you think! I thought the guy who said he wanted to be a teabagger in here was very telling.
And reinforcing of my observation about where the increase in divisiveness is coming. I think a lot of people who were euphoric and hopeful at Obama's election after eight years of war and broken banks feel very depressed now.
Not that the Oman isn't doing what he said he would. He IS. But they're seeing on TV that the republicans are just so much better at ratfucking than they were during Nixon's time.
Daniel said, "Honestly, I am appalled and terrified of the white people who have just espoused unveiled bigotry on this comment board."
ReplyDeleteIt maybe bigotry, but it's the DAMN TRUTH.
The TRUTH gets people terrified after a while doesn't it?
Seriously maxing out your black card is not a national emergency!!!! Leawood police are trained no differently than any other police force.
ReplyDeleteHey Leawood at least I have the balls to put my name on my post. I also stand behind it, you are probably just making things up from your house just waiting for "them" to move into your hood.
I don't care WHAT color a crowd is, I don't want to have to worry about my/my family's safety and peace when I go out, and a huge mob of youth of ANY race suddenly showing up in a place designed for casual strolling, eating, drinking and shopping---(unless we are talking about a PLANNED crowd event like the Plaza lighting ceremony)---can be scary and intimidating, especially if members of the crowd jump out in front of cars, pound on car windows, fight and commit robberies, all of which have been reported. This is not a race issue. It is obvious the Plaza is not a suitable place for this kind of mass gathering. And don't tell me to suggest some other place for these kids to go; that's not my responsibility. The use of social media to create busloads of kids congregating where they will be disruptive is a Flash Mob and these kids have to know they are creating a problem at the Plaza. And WHERE ARE THE PARENTS, PEOPLE? Is anyone asking "Where is my 12-year-old tonight?" Some of us DO ask that question, and it is not OUR kids who are creating this mess. I am SO SICK of self-important nincompoops (nice word for them) playing the race card in the name of political correctness or to silence decent people who only want to be safe. I grew up in the military and my whole life I have worked, lived near and gone to school with people of all ethnicites. I am not a racist. I'm sure African-Americans who are responsible, seasoned professional adults like me are also aghast at what is happening at the Plaza. It is not an issue of race, but of good judgment and personal and parental responsibility.
ReplyDelete2 facts for the day:
ReplyDeleteAbout the only thing Leawood police have to deal with is chasing packs of bikers who run stop signs...so get the f#ck off your high horse Sean.
And #2 - get the f*cking nig*ers back on the east side of Troost where they belong...push them back with force if necessary.
That is all.
Hey Just the facts, I am busting on Leawood!! That was the Anonymous guy say Leawood police are trained in national defense etc...... I just want to set the record straight.
ReplyDeleteIs that a banana in your bike shorts.............
Obama is a corporatist, not socialist. Health care helps a few CEOs far more than it does anyone else.
ReplyDeleteTo all the tea baggers, Missouri is not Texas. Most of the industry in Kansas city is subsidized in one way or another by the evil government... You've got little in the way of real resources or skills to trade in the global economy.Suck it up. Your standard of living will decrease in the next ten years regardless of who is in the White House.
So go ahead and pick up your guns.. Shoot your neighbor or who ever it is that stands in the way... When the violence finally subsides you will realize you were just fighting over crumbs. Like Detroit, the rest of the world will have long past you by.

Okay, Mr/Mrs 4/11/10 4:53 PM, perhaps you didn't get that allusion to the treatment of the Jews during the holocaust, and the quarantining leading up to it... But again, way to wear your views out on your sleeve, Dr. Anonymous. You are a fearless speaker of the truth.
Furthermore, I guess it goes to say that since they are all unemployed in the East Troost corridor, they must be lazy. Non causa pro causa.
Secondably, my father has nothing to do with my education. I attended a conservative Catholic post-secondary institution. Since I only know my history through primary texts, and thoughtful professors, I must be naive. Notwithstanding the fact that I grew up at 25th and Hardesty.
So tell me all about what you know about me or my ideas.
This whole thing is just fear of a different class, of a different color, of a different language, of a different generation, of a different culture.
By the way, Anonymous #2 @ 4/11/10 5:10 PM
"...can be scary and intimidating, especially if members of the crowd jump out in front of cars, pound on car windows, fight and commit robberies, all of which have been reported."
Care to cite evidence corroborating those reports?

Hey, Sean--Leawood here! Did it ever occur to you that people like me are able to live in Leawood NOT because someone handed us an AMEX Black Card, but because we worked our a**es off from the time we were very young, starting at minimum wage (LONG before it was as high as it is now), made sacrifices, and lived responsible lives? And you still apparently have chosen not to educate yourself about Leawood, or anywhere else you perceive as a privileged white enclave, so let me inform you: Leawood includes the 435 corridor, and there is plenty of sh*t happening along there. The fact there are not higher crime statistics for this city may be due in large part to the fact it IS made up of people who WORKED to get what they have, so we do not prey on each other. No, I am NOT a white male. I did not grow up with much of anything except the love and firm guidance of two parents who instilled a work ethic in me, ALONG WITH a COMPLETE lack of prejudice against any other person or race. You know who I look down on, Sean? Not the poor, not other races, but people who refuse to accept responsibility for themselves and their families. People who are looking for someone else to support them, someone to blame for their perceived misfortunes. People who cultivate anger by the "have-nots" against the "haves." People who inexplicably assume anyone who has a decent living and a good neighborhood didn't EARN them. But you wouldn't know about any of that, because you WANT to believe anyone who has more than you perceive yourself to have, anyone who disagrees with your preconceived notions, is privileged and a racist. YOU'RE the one living in a bunker, mon ami.
ReplyDeleteWhat I'm afraid of is that the KCPD Chief is going to try to use this incident as a way to get more money out of the Taxpayers.
ReplyDeleteUse the fear of the public to get more money.
The Police have being throwing Tax money away for YEARS!
Dear Anonymous @ 4/11/10 5:38 PM, aka Baroness of Leawood.
ReplyDeleteNice try, but never cleverly omit the trust-fund. You still have to claim that quarterly--if you're smart, that is.
Just jesting. But by your reasoning, you admit that there is bad parenting. Thus you punish the children of bad parents? With tear gas? Really?!
Ok, JoCo. Your hard work has achieved you a plot in utopia. But are you really saying that you grew up with drug addicted parents in the inner core at a failing school system? Is that really where you came from? You had it that rough?
Come on!
So, Daniel, are you arguing that these kids should be given a pass to be rowdy and create a mob scene because they come from bad homes? I am supposed to tell my family it's OK if they are threatened or hurt because these poor kids couldn't help themselves? Come on.
ReplyDelete5:38 you assumed a lot! You don't know where I live, what race I am, what my education level is, or anything.
ReplyDeleteMy remarks never said anything about the people of Leawood, but the police.
Anonymous if you look down on people who "People who are looking for someone else to support them, someone to blame for their perceived misfortunes. People who cultivate anger by the "have-nots" against the "haves." People who inexplicably assume anyone who has a decent living and a good" I look down on those how can not read for comprehension! And clearly you have a nerve that was struck, by me making fun of your statement about the abilities of Leawood police. And you thought it was about the people of Leawood. I may live there too, you never know... They are a joke and you know it deep down.
And if you are going to make a stand sign you name!!!!
I forgot Leawood does have town center and ranchmart, please forgive me.
Now hopefully you know what assuming does?????

Yes, just because I never made a proposal for how to deal with that sort of situation, I would obviously support your proposal. Perfect, now I don't have to come up with something constructive or creative. You saved me a lot of work. Boy, you really are hard working.
There is no reason that you should have to be harassed by anyone, period.. Save for the IRS, for tax evasion, of course.
I suppose you could just pepper-spray them, and take the work load off those poor, over-worked police officers. No, better yet, just shoot them. They physically threatened your children. Did I say physically? I'm sorry. I meant visually.
Something tells me that you weren't on the Country Club Plaza last night. That's a terrible assumption, I am aware, but you're not speaking about actual events--rather suppositions to your reactions in events of similar kind. Everyone loves a good hypothetical.
So here's one. How about when a large group of people of any loose-affiliation, save for the fact they are all of the same age, and all of the same socio-economic class, shows up in a public place we barricade the streets and shoot tear gas at them.
Isn't there a Tea Party rally (protest) coming soon?
I drink coffee. And Kool-Aid (but it's really the off-brand stuff).
cheers Yanks!

I culling an option? I mean it working on a Johnson county problem. I am sure that activist has some down time so he could protest......Just a thought
ReplyDeletei guess your right Daniel we should all just be eating fried chicken and beating up old ladies?!?!
ReplyDeleteUnruly teens on the Plaza is disconcerting, the fact that they're black is an important detail, but I'm really disappointed to hear so many racist comments.
ReplyDeleteFor instance, "Obama wants me to give these people health care, welfare, etc." These are kids. And we're assuming that they're going to be on welfare because they're black?
The White People can't start coming up with racist solutions to handle these skirmishes because it will only create more tension.
Has there even been an explanation for why these kids were down there? Where they gangs, or rival schools? Last year around prom season Local Media was reporting that white people were uncomfortable with black kids taking their dates to dinner on The Plaza before prom. These obviously weren't prom kids, but was this a statement in retaliation to that?
The parents need to keep their children under control, and if they can't then there may have to be a temporary curfew enforced which is unfortunate, but this can't be allowed to continue.

ReplyDeleteA tip of my balaclava to you, sir.
First of all, cops can't stop crime. They were down there trying to stop this stuff.
ReplyDeleteSecond, when the riots walked north of Truman in the 60's they found a lot of people standing on their front porches with shotguns. That is why the only neighborhoods that burned were their own.
So, my answer is the cops need to walk around with shotguns instead of pepper spray.

That's amateurish. Just nukem'.
But really, why use shotguns when flame-throwers are soooooooo much more cost-effective? Although the forecast on refined gasoline this summer is expected to reach record highs, if we stock up on the fuel now, we can incinerate them where they live.
Hello holocaust 2010, KCMO. These colors don't run.

ReplyDeleteToo much BS about what will happen if they come into Ks (although the poster is correct Leawood, OP, PV will not take prisoners)and not enough discussion re fixing the problem. The underlying issue is poor politically pressured policing and terrible City Hall leadership. No one is confidant that a solution will occur and the emotions range from those who love the Plaza to others who think the area is elitist and get a kick out of everyday people being scared shitless and inconvenienvced. My issue is that if my 19yo son goes down there and if someone bangs on his car he will get out and rumble. If he gets hurt I will find the person resposnible (regardless of age or race) and fuck them up - permanantly. This is how our family culture reacts to this type of thing. People are sick of this shit and you dumbasses that make excuses for it need your asses kicked too. It's not race or politics it's pure stupidity and the KCPD better get it under fucking control by next weekend.

ReplyDeleteThe actions of the idiots involved in Saturday nights riot is the reason "they" never wanted Blacks on the Plaza. The Plaza Gustapo always targete4d Blacks on the Plaza ans this is why.

ReplyDeleteDem Nigs be Wildin"
ReplyDeleteDEY BE WILDIN!!!!!
There is an easy way to deal with this situation, and it must be dealt with quickly lest we lose one of our few nationally known landmarks. Arrest and kid causing trouble. Charge his parents with criminal trespass, fine them $500. If you can't find the parents and i assume this will be common, then fine their legal guardian. This is not race based, arrest and fine any kid who is causing problems. The Plaza may want to enact a stricter set of rules on how many people may congregate. Obviously crowd of wilding teens are going to hurt their business. It's up to the merchant's association to pressure the police to take action.
ReplyDeleteIf it was up to me i'd bust some heads. Fuck the pepper spray, a baton to the nose is way more effective.
Fuck you Daniel 7:23 speaks for me too. My kids get hurt in this and it's gonna get ugly. And and are you against it not getting fixed? Must be based on your remarks.

ReplyDeleteThat's a pretty narrow-sighted outlook, Mr Ed. I'd expect that talk from one of those horses pulling you in a carriage on the plaza.
We should abandon all hope. This city has nobody batting for it... Frankly, I'm appalled that Mr. Rockhill-Nelson, Dr. Troost, Mr. Swope, or Mr. Loose didn't leave their estates to you honest, goodkind JoCo puritans.

ReplyDeleteHey 7:43 they can be under contract by noon tomorrow. $300 per and the Plaza can be infiltrated with true enforcement personnel. There'll also be some coverage over around 47th and Rockhill to pick off a few before they enter the area. Again, KCPD better get this solved and the Council better back them up. Well, I wasn't going to say anything, but since you brought up the topic of anal sodomy....
The scenario of your son's wedding, that you don't attend (because you're denied a furlough for the crime of killing people), is actually a gay marriage. I really hate to break it to you this way...
But really, I live between the Plaza and Westport. And have lived in Midtown for several years. The worst that has happened to me in this area is some JoCo driver hitting me going the wrong way on a one-way street.
Go mutter things incoherently elsewhere. Idle threats are a dime a dozen online.

In total earnestness, I would put forth some money if you could sincerely pull that off.
But since you can't, and since you're a pretty funny guy, I think I'll keep my money. Although, I might splurge at Barnes & Noble (on the Plaza) and get you book of better jokes.
Very eloquent Daniel. Still waiting for a position and a solution instead of challenging the personalities (and positions)of the posters here. Are you relishing this chaos or not? It sounds like you are excsuing the behaviour!

My position is that all American citizens have a right to congregate peacefully. In the event that those gathering are not peaceful, there are many ways to deal with it.
Most officers in this city are trained to react, but not deal. I grew up on the Eastside of KC. The cops there are trained to be forceful and violent, because making mistakes and being too careful gets you hurt or killed. But that is serious gang violence.
The situation last night was being 13 [to 16], and bored. If anyone here has not been in the same parentless situation, then you have nothing constructive to offer, because you're in denial about youth.
The difference between you 20 years ago as a bored, young teen is that technology today (and specifically those for mass-communication) has empowered those who tap into it more than you will ever know or understand. See also: protests in Iran.
My proposal is that we educate and employ police officials in this city who are prepared for the Brave New World.
Rumor has it that creekside suites at the Intercontinental are sold out for next weekend. People rolling in to observe the "action".
ReplyDeleteWere going "ringside" at that Chang place across from the Fountain.
No, we're not going to bust kids faces with batons, but there needs to be a curfew for kids under the age of eighteen no matter what race. The Plaza theatre already does this.
ReplyDeleteAnd slapping the parents with a fine is a good idea as well. I'm still not sure why these kids were on The Plaza... it wasn't by accident.
Daniel...it is a shame that the kids are rudderless and bored but check KSHB's footage on the web and tell us what you have for a solution for next weekend and throughout the summer.

ReplyDeleteSorry. I suppose it's a bit unfair to assume that all people can afford cable TV in this economy.
The reason I was referencing that [DC protest] was due to a poster imploring me to watch news footage of the plaza, as if being there wasn't enough. Or if living there isn't enough.
And I was never really focused on Leawood. It's a fine town, really. It's just not where I would ever live. My issue was with people's inversion of 'issue' vs. 'demographic'.
I might be so emphatic about last night because it is my neighborhood. And respect for community is a value all should respect, police and pranksters alike.
It may actually be entertaining for Benson or Coe to appear on Fox and justify the KSHB footage. Pure comedy in fact, but to the demise of KC tourism and commercial retention. Which will of course cost jobs and make matters even worse.

Please police keep these niggers out of the plaza. they walk around holding their waist, and thats not because they can't afford a belts, its because they are fucking niggers and carry guns on the plaza. Please city council/police keep them on their side of main. the plaza is nice, and does not need to turn into a run down part of town. The niggers ruined Paseo, dont let them do the same thing to the Plaza
ReplyDeleteYou guys did a fine job of hijacking the msg comments into a one on one debate... but I'm afraid you've expended youre areas of expertise.

Different "Anonymous" here from the one Dan is responding to, but I think it's obvious: Their right to enjoy a long-treasured city venue in comfort and safety with like-minded citizens. The city's & merchants' right to protect their investments from becoming ghost towns because paying customers were scared out of their wits.
ReplyDeleteRadioman, what do you think should be done?

ReplyDelete4/11/10 9:40 PM
But does that trump the right of the personal freedom to congregate in public places?
If the report of 700ish people were there and only isolated reports of disruption, then I'd say we're not really talking about corralling the entire herd, but rather a few wild stallions within.
So, if we're talking about the young adults who were disrupting the peace, then those people can be targeted and dealt with. But if we're talking about an individual's right to exist as a non-patron on (mostly) public streets, then I think the negative externality perceived by people who are just (mostly) xenophobic should not outweigh individual liberty.
If we're talking about loitering as such, then there are a ton of metrics to differentiate between people as consumers versus people as on-lookers (loiterers). It is not necessary to charge people a fee or send them through a full-body scanner in order to enter the plaza, but if the shop-owners really wanted to filter those who are there legitimately against the bored, then shelling out a few extra bucks during peak seasons isn't an unreasonable expense to operate that. Westport has done it, and quite effectively. Why do you think that there is now a bottle-neck at the Plaza?
KCPD told one of the Channels that the incident had been planned for weeks by Westport and Raytown students. Radioman that should answer your question. I stood down form Daniel at 9:31. Why hadn't you joined in?

I think what you mean to say is that it's a hell of a lot different from Zona Rosa or Town Centre Plaza. It's even (mostly) different than P&L. The block off Penn. St. and Westport Rd. for two blocks in both directions, and charge a fee to enter. Those loitering on the perimeter are discharged.
It might not be your cup of tea, but it does work a heck of a lot better than the Plaza on any weekend night, rabid teens or not.
You asked me what to do.
ReplyDeleteFirst, find out how it happened. What started it? Can't say much without the facts.
I'm okay with cancelling some bus routes but yes, that may well raise legal issues.
I think these things tend to peter out because the Plaza isn't that much fun unless you have a credit card.
Hoping the cops won't overreact, for if anything will galvanize indignancy and create a 'cause', it's government being too excessive. Kent State needs to be reviewed by the Chief before he issues a memo. I'm not sure we want our city to have the same kind of connotation as "Kent State" or "Dallas". Or "Detroit".
We Americans don't like heavy handed government -- well except for rich people wanting government to protect their assets at any cost!
Maybe KC should just lay low... if we don't make too big a deal about it, maybe it will just blow over. get all hard ass and martyr someone attractie and young by overreacting, and then it will be out of control. Ya think Precious Doe was a big deal? Just have the cops kill some cute young kid just enjoying the sights and sounds of the PLaza, even if he has no money in his pocket!
The police need to keep these kids out of the plaza. They belong on the east side of main street. It is sad how niggers can ruin such a great part of kansas city.
ReplyDeleteJust East of the Plaza is becoming very getto.
ReplyDeleteSince there was a comment to "Stand Down," Anonymous (Leawood) wants to make it VERY clear the last post from me was prior to 6 pm, and my posts are NOT connected to any later posts. I do not think in terms of, or EVER use, the n-word.
ReplyDelete10:10 they were east of main when the most serious assault took place. They almost killed the kid.Does that make it better for god sake.
ReplyDeleteRadioman, I'm highly inclined to agree, but what if it's not a media-driven or politically painted target, and next week or two, three weeks later things pick up? As in, if the current policing tactics only incense more anger, then there is a strong purpose for citizen's discussion of the problem.
ReplyDeleteWhat about planned events for teens during the spring and summer? Teen unemployment hasn't been this bad in sooooo long. Adults are competing for summer jobs that normally teens would be doing, so the climate is a bit different. If the nature of the economy doesn't allow them to be productive members of society, what are some alternatives? Volunteer work?
10:17, that happens every night on the east side of main though. Niggers will be niggers. Lets just hope the police keep them out of the plaza or old jim crow might make a come back.

I was there just after the ambulance left. His friends were all in tears, and I have to say that I'm glad that the cops didn't bother them in their grief.
So I cannot say that the whole of the night was mis-handled by the police. There were some real shit-heads out with something to prove. But you run across the same people at Power & Light, Westport, Zona Rosa, at work, school, or wherever you are.
However, when you firebomb an entire country to catch one man, it's not really cost-effective in terms of lives or in political capital.
Local KC news reporter Jana Corrie reports she interviewed teens at Plaza who said teens converging on the Plaza was planned and spread through Facebbok posts.
ReplyDeleteHeading East out of the Plaza could use a do-over.
ReplyDelete10:33, Perhaps a wall would do a trick.
ReplyDeleteI talked to some of my neighbors near the Plaza most are afraid to walk home from work. Two have decided to leave and find other jobs. A real shame Kansas City is becoming another detroit, people and businesses are leaving.
ReplyDeleteI live on the plaza and i was forced to get a cc license so i can defend myself if it comes down to it. Niggers are trash, and the city needs to keep them on the east side of 71!
ReplyDelete10-17 All kinds of stuff happens on that block east of main.Car break-ins were epidemic recently.Armed robberies, etc. Hopefully some development will take place heading east someday. The parkway is poorly maintained by the city too.
ReplyDeleteThat it might have been a facebook protest doens't surprise me. Kids can be both innovative and also quick to grab onto anything fun and new.
ReplyDeleteThe problem is, blacks being aggressive or non-white in their behavior scare the shit out of whites. I'm not sure they mind that so much. Again, didn't we powerless youngsters back in the day love to jerk around those who had power over us? Its simple rebellion.
Sometimes with a cause, and sometimes JUST BECAUSE! (We're sick of being told what to do!)
Two ways to look at this. One, we're just enjoying young people venting and they have their right because lets face it, we oldsters are pretty repressive on the young!
Or it's a socio economic injustice we white majority are fine with because it doens't hurt us,.... but they're really tired of it. And like civil disobedience really did work in Birmingham, Little Rock, Topeka through the courts and et al, they want to force the issue now.
Lets face it, all americans are suffering in this recession. And black Americans are suffering even more. What blacks are making a decent middle class wage who AREN'T working for the federal government?
And then these Republican assholes diss the poor for being poor because they don't have republican advantages of parenthood. What judgmental butt holes we white upper-middle class people can be!
Like I said earlier, I know those neighborhoods between 15th and 63rd, east of Cleveland. Incomes and cultures aren't the same as those northwest of South 59th and State Line!
Unlike most who graduated Shawnee Mission, by happenstance I did learn about the east side. I'm just tellin ya that there's a lot you didn't learn in JOCO... and so you might not want to be so, uh, confident about your view of things. It's an exclusive JOCO view.
Maybe you think you have the right views, but you should intellectually realize that you may not have the full story! Why don't you know that? For gods sake, you had the best education white America can buy. You should understand things better after all that money spent on you!
KC...#1 Largest City in MO.
ReplyDeleteKC...Is Now #1 Most dangerous City in MO, finally surpasing St. Louis as Murder/Rape/Violent Crime capital of Missouri!!!
Go Kansas City, MO!!! You are no longer a "Cow Town". You're just a big bunch of ANIMALS now!
KC = Killer City, "Stand Up!"
10:28 PM; interesting... I was wondering if this could possibly have been a flash mob organized on facebook, but that still doesn't explain why they were there. Did they choose The Plaza as a battleground via Facebook, or were they there to protest something and it went awry?
ReplyDeleteAnd initally I was skeptical of people claiming that The Black Community wasn't taking this seriously, but after asking some of my black friends to weigh in, they downplayed it as a few kids fighting after a movie let out.
When Kansas Citians start taking their family and friends who are visiting from out of town to Wyandotte County because it's "safer" than The Plaza, this is going to affect city services, property taxes, etc. It's a big deal and it needs to be dealt with by The Country Club Plaza, The Police, and Black Community Leaders. And the less that white suburbanites hear about the details the better, because they gave up on the Kansas City Missouri School District pretty quick too.
Daniel, Radioman and elBryan it appears that you likely share the same attitude about planned, civil disobedience - that its the poor vs the rich. Your rationalization of these "planned" events and the comparisons to the 1960's is comical.
ReplyDeleteI was looking for an explanation, not a racist solution, and it seems like we have a possible.

I responded:
I was wondering if this could possibly have been a flash mob organized on facebook...
This morning, Chris Stigall reported that it is most likely a flash mob and no one in local media is reporting it. You heard it here first, folks.
And 6:40; don't ever group me with Radioman. This is only a poor vs. rich thing in the sense that poor people are usually less involved in their children's lives. This is primarily a parental issue that the Plaza and the police are left to handle.
Any interest in creating a counter-flash mob, flash mob on facebook or Twitter that could respond to theirs?
ReplyDeleteyeah right 7:22, just add more fuel to the fire. that'll solve it.
ReplyDeleteWhere has the plaza been on all this? I haven't heard a single comment or plan of action. Glen? Still think turning the Plaza into a strip mall is the best thing? It's time for you and Highwoods to go, don't ya think.
ReplyDeleteHere's contact info for Highwoods the owners of the Plaza.

Does anyone know how to contact the Board of Police Commissioners? The KC Police site does not say. It looks out of date. (No Email or phone numbers)
ReplyDeleteI've lived on the Plaza for almost eight years... crime has gotten progressively worse. This past weekend topped it off . I'm leaving the Plaza. People have been complaining to officials with no response. Time to leave before I become one of the endless victims.
ReplyDeleteNot to mention all the apprehension.

ReplyDeleteDaniel, Radioman and elBryan it appears that you likely share the same attitude about planned, civil disobedience - that its the poor vs the rich. Your rationalization of these "planned" events and the comparisons to the 1960's is comical.
It's only comical if you weren't around in the sixties or were too repressed to experience the times.
It was a good discussion yesterday tho. Thanks for the forum, Tony.
PS, being linked with Radioman in a philosophical discussion won't give you cooties. It only means you're not a knee-jerk fascist.
Culling is the only option! it will teach these youths what they should and shouldn't do!
ReplyDeleteCleaver Blvd (47th) and Troost was fairly quiet Saturday night between dusk and midnight. More kids than usual walking on it, but no big deal. Also there's few buses after 6pm. Am curious what parts of KC (or KCK) those Plaza kids were from.
ReplyDeleteI found this site through a link on the comments on this story at the Star. My son was on the Plaza Saturday night with a couple of his friends and their dates. His group was accosted by several groups of blacks. They were shouting racial epithets at them and 2 of the girls they were with were groped by these out of control kids. They witnessed a girl in a prom dress get pushed into the fountain outside of the Cheesecake Factory. They also described the sexual harassment, touching and grabbing happening to women walking down there. I feel that the police did not do enough to control these kids. If this continues someone is really going to get hurt/killed. I would like the parents of these kids to witness what their little bastards are doing down there especially to females. It's unfortunate that merchants on the Plaza are going to suffer for this. I won't allow my kids to go anywhere near the Plaza now and I won't be visiting anytime soon either. Which is a shame because I love Capitol Grill and McCormick & Schmick. I predict that someone will get shot/run over or stabbed to death within a couple of weeks if the continues.
ReplyDeleteMost of my friends and I have put the Plaza as off limits now.
ReplyDeleteThe Plaza has been going slowly downhill.
Things were getting bad but now this.
Why spend money for an expensive dinner only to have it ruined ?
The Plaza is not safe anymore.
"I feel that the police did not do enough to control these kids"
ReplyDeleteI agree the Police acted like they weren't sure what to do.
Good news everyone! After meeting with the Mayor and Chief of Police a plan of action has been developed. Youths will be arrested and detained here from now on: http://bit.ly/beOqpO
ReplyDeleteFirst off the Mayor and Police Chief could Never make a DECISION that fast.
ReplyDeleteThe City's and Police website don't even mention the incident. I guess to them it didn't happen.

ReplyDeleteIf they opposite happened at 18th and Vine we would have had national media attention and hate crimes prosecuted by the FBI.
ReplyDeleteThey should have arrested every kid. I think we need a 10pm curfew unless you are coming home from work.
Can you imagine after a hard day's work taking your wife and children for a well earned meal just to have your families safety put in jeopardy ?
ReplyDeleteThe Plaza is a has been KC institution for me and my family.
I don't want the cops at my door telling me something has happened to a family member. We'll order it delivered.
Kansas City: The New Detroit
ReplyDeleteI've seen all of the available footage of this debacle and guess what I noticed? There were ALL niggers. Big shock...
ReplyDeleteI just laugh at the losers who participated and got arrested.
ReplyDeleteIf it had been mobs of white kids shouting racial slurs and assaulting black pedestrians and motorists you would have seen a national media feeding frenzy, endless handwringing, federal involvement and hate crime charges. But because this involved black youths shouting racial slurs at whites and assaulting white pedestrians and motorists, it is quickly swept under the rug. Ignored by the media and law enforcement. And not a single arrest. (We saw this a couple years ago during the Saint Patrick's Day parade in KC when black youths rampaged attacking white families, including a KC Star employee his wife and daughter. And a few years ago at 27th and Benton when black youths were attacking non-black motorists, pulling a Chinese man out of his car, beating him to within an inch of his life, while turning his car over and setting it on fire. What the KC Star later referred to as simply a "melee between youths and police". Ignoring the vicious hate crime. And similar incidents have happened in other places all across the country, also ignored, such as the 40 black youths attacking and beating 3 white girls on Halloween night in Long Beach California while screaming f**k white people, a couple years ago. One white girl loosing sight in one eye as a result.) Just another example of black skin privilege.
ReplyDeleteRacist bs pure and simple. Let's all go and scare the hell out of people. To minimize the inherent hate of this riot would be a mistake. I wonder if any of those teens have a clue as to the fact that some white people (possibly those dining or shopping there) could have fought for equal rights or stood up against racism. Probably not. Much easier to just f#*$ with people and take out your anger on others. Really sad. My husband and I moved here recently. It appears Kansas City is not much safer or nicer than where we came from. Sad, really.
ReplyDeleteI find it funny that this is happening to a liberal/democratic white enclave. White guilt is coming home to roost...
