The Phoenix Coyotes are getting kicked out of the NHL (sorta) and now there is talk of dumping them on Kansas City. This kind of second rate "pro" sports team could be the final nail in the coffin for The Downtown Renaissance considering Kansas City was promised MAJOR and not minor league tenants.
But leftovers are sort of a local tradition.
SUPPORT TKC 4 CITY COUNCIL!!!
It is really sad to hear this because I witnessed the fall of the Winnipeg Jets where I lived for 8 years when my family left and moved with them to Phoenix. It is sad that they will be, as you say, "dumped" in Kansas City. I wish, as do many in Winnipeg, that they had never left and come to the USA.
ReplyDeleteHow are they not a MAJOR league tenant? How are the (sorta) being kicked out of the NHL? The team is in the NHL. Is it just because they're not very good? If that's the standard, this town has been without a MAJOR league team for years!
ReplyDeleteBig attraction: They suck just as bad as The Chiefs and Royals.
ReplyDeleteWonder how the Independence Mavericks attendance will fare if this happens?
ReplyDeleteBetter off with the Mavericks than a disfunctional NHL team. At least they'll make the playoffs.
ReplyDeleteOther than carpetbaggers, what NHL or NBA franchise would come to KC after the Kings and Scouts?
San Antonio will have an NFL franchise light-years before we get a NHL or NBA team.
Why hockey, this is KC...we need the NBA!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteperfect fit with royals and chiefs.
ReplyDeleteJust what Kansas City needs another loser team to go along with the potholes and high crime.
ReplyDeleteYou people do realize the Coyotes have the 4th highest point total in the NHL this year right? They are actually a very good team at this point in time.
ReplyDeleteTrue the Coyotes have been bad in the past, however, right now, they are one of the hottest young teams in the NHL. They've made shrewd trades, terrific draft picks and have loads of very young, talented players.
ReplyDeleteComparing them, as they stand right now, to the Royals and Chiefs is way off base.
Did you even bother to check the team's record before making this stupid post? The 'Yotes are one of the better teams in their division this year. They are on their way up. They are certainly better than the Royals and Chiefs and KC would be lucky to get them!
