A recent video I spotted features Kansas City's Burlesque Downtown Underground shaking their big asses during their X-mas gig.
The clip is part of upcoming fundraising drive on KickStart that isn't going so well.
To wit, I've had (more) than a few requests to end any and all references to the local neo-burlesque scene on this blog . . . I used to do nothing but trash the ladies but as of late I've been impressed with the fledgling, local entertainment community.
So you be the judge, the vid was nicely put together and features some great performers who will soon be bringing burlesque back to the the Folly Theater.
Big asses? If those asses are "big," is there even a word to describe the size of your gut?
ReplyDeleteThose ladies are the most talented and attractive group of burlesque performers I have seen in KC. Looks like a great event. Now, some of the other "burlesque" events seem to be just fat hipsters with little talent dancing. Not appealing. This, is.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun time. Girls look nice. A nice break after a week of hard work.... put's a smile on a bad Kansas City skyline.
ReplyDeleteThanks girls.
Jesus, if that's the best talent in KC then this shit needs to stop now. What they're doing is not burlesque, it's dancing around in underwear. Where's the tease? And doing this shit to canned music is embarrassing.
ReplyDeleteHey 10:37 - I'd like to see you and Tony wedge yourselves into outfits this small and do better. I'll make the popcorn. Maybe an urban farmer could supply some rotten produce to throw. It'll be a hilarious spectacle.
ReplyDelete10:37 your right not real burlesque.
ReplyDeleteTakes a ton of work to be a good performer.
I'm afraid those days are gone.
BDU is a wonderful, talented group of professionals and while this was a cute little performance, unless you have seen more of what they do, you should not be talking about them.
ReplyDeleteThey most definitely do know real burlesque, and they do some fantastic stage performances!
Good stuff. Sure, it isn't as good as the old days, but it is the best thing going on around KC.
