Kansas City politics makes for strange bedfellows and only two short years ago Mayor Funky called himself a liberal. He has now changed his affiliation to "Independent" despite the fact that most of his political alliances seem to be with extreme, right-wing Conservatives.

For those unfamiliar with the work of Cashill . . . Kansas City Blog "State of The Line" has made good sport of regularly taking apart his theories in great detail.
For my part . . . I think Jack Cashill is a smart guy and despite the fact that I disagree with him politically on most things and conspiracy theories bore me, I respect the fact that he has published a great many books and many people might not know that he holds a Ph.D. from Purdue University.
Still, awhile ago I contacted Cashill and he played down his Funky affiliation . . . Now sources are saying he is a member in good standing in the Funky Advisory Group which seemingly consists of only Jeff Roe's buddies, Louie Wright and other assorted white dudes who aren't really representative of mainstream politics in this cowtown . . . That's not exactly representative of historically Democrat controlled Kansas City.
So what's wrong with that?

DEar Tony: I don't think this fact is anything to get worried about. Mr. Cashill is a very learned and very intelligent man--I disagree with most of his ideas, but on one point he is absolutely right and if the city doesn't start listening to people like him we are never going to stop the ongoing bloodbath in the black sections of the city: Mr. Cashill knows that a city that refuses to give white police officers accused of racism due process and some degree of fair media coverage is going to unleash a holocaust in the black neighborhoods as the cops abandon the streets out of fear of being accused of racism. That is not a PC thing to say, but it is the truth--and I hope Funkhouser is willing to hear it. Sincerely and Respectfully, Ernest Evans

ReplyDeleteTony the number of books written by a person is certainly not a measure of their intelligence or sanity. Take for example, Lyndon H. LaRouche who has penned somewhere around 16 books, but he is a convicted felon and certifiable mad-man. I think of Jack Cashill as the same sort of author and political-thinker.

To the anonymous posters above: There is nothing wrong with the Northland. That being said, a while back Funk was quoted in the newspapers as saying something to the effect that he had to come out against the people who live in the black part of town not on the merits but because his remaining base in the Northland demanded it and if he didn't roll over, he would, at that point in time, have almost no support left.

I hope I have cleared up any confusion and that you all recognize that I don't believe that the Northland is anything close to Memphis Alabama in the 1950's and 1960's... not at all. That isn't to say that there aren't elements/people who are vile, despicable, small minded and racists... after all, what kind of person do you think would support the Funk at this point.
Another aside as it relates to the latest Cauthen debacle (not a debacle by the way that this putrid cretin was exterminated) I remember the Funk when he started out wanting nothing more than to bash Cauthen and send him packing... this fit right in with those Northland supporters that I was referring to above most of whom I suppose enjoyed the odious, duplicitous and totally disrespectful way the Funk handled Cauthen at the time. Most of the rest of us Orange Revolution types were more than happy to know that the Funk wanted to expunge the gruesome Cauthen but gagged and choked on the way he went about doing it.
Good. The Democrat controlled Kansas City has proven to be a complete and utter failure.

Time for some law and order Republicans to assert control over the school district. If this City has a future, it lies with the school district. Without a place to get a decent education for your child, why would you want to live here?
