TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! SUSPENDED CITY MANAGER WAYNE CAUTHEN WANTS A PUBLIC HEARING!!! CITY HALL SCRAMBLES TO KEEP IT BEHIND CLOSED DOORS!!!
December could host the latest and greatest hot mess Kansas City has even seen.
A few local media outlets have reported that City Manager Wayne Cauthen wants a hearing over his firing. However . . .
AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS REPORT THAT THE CITY CHARTER REQUIRES A PUBLIC HEARING AND POLITICOS AT THE HALL ARE DESPERATELY WORKING TO AVOID ANOTHER CAUTHEN SPECTACLE!!!
The move to keep the trial private requires a special order from a Missouri judge. Already there's an effort to get it on the sneak.
Even better EXCLUSIVE TKC NEWS:
THE HEARING FOR SUSPENDED CITY MANAGER CAUTHEN IS COMING SOONER THAT ANYONE EXPECTED!!! IT COULD BE SOMEWHERE ON, AROUND OR IN THE GENERAL VICINITY OF DEC. 10TH!!!
I hoped that the City Manager would take his money and ride off into the sunset (Denver) . . . But it looks like Kansas City could get one, last good show out of the Cauthen. A public trial certainly does shed a bit of perspective on the Black Clergy mobilizing into action last week . . . And despite Cauthen's constant screw-ups I have no doubt that there will be a significant contingent of people willing to support him in public considering his ongoing support from not only the suits (developers) but also certain leaders in the African-American community.
So . . . If folks at City Hall don't succeed in getting Cauthen's hearing in private . . . The move to suspend the City Manager that was described as "secretive" and a "palace coup" could certainly backfire.
With 6 City Council people embarrassed over the Cauthen ouster and certain elements of Kansas City's political establishment feeling irrelevant or slighted . . . IF Cauthen gets a public trial, it most certainly will be ugly.
So you going?
ReplyDeleteMaybe Cathen is hoping for a replay of the last time Funk ried to oust him. The televised public beating that the overflow crowd administered to the Funk was gruesome. Funk took the beating without saying naary a word for over an hour. It was an extrememly unpleasant spectacle.
ReplyDeleteThis time will be different... sad to say for the putrid Cauthen. This epsiode will not be featuring the duplicitious, nasty hate filled racism tinged ineffective maneuverings of the Feckless Funk. Cauthen got squashed quickly brutally for good reason and without any public spectacle (although carting him off using security staff was a bit of overkill). This time the firing was handled properly and professionally... totally different from the effort launched by the former Smartest Guy In The Room.
So don't be counting on a repeat of the last session Wayne. Take your check and go with G-d. You deserved to be let go and are lucky you are still going to get paid... sadly, ironically you have the Funk to thank for that too :)
That's what I'm talkin' 'bout!
ReplyDeleteHey, if Wayne wants a hearing, and you're Mayor Funkie, and Cauthen was either irresponsible or out-and-out illegal, I'd say go for it. Bring it on. Wash that laundry in public and be done with it.
Just be sure you got him, dead to rights.
Mo Rage
Cauthen will lose Tony. Don't even try to race bait this one. He is over with and all of Kansas City is glad to see him gone.
ReplyDeleteWWJD?
ReplyDeleteWhat will JAN do?
Maybe they can have the hearing at the New Reform Temple? That way Beth can put in an appearance at her schul of record :) They can even have the hearing Friday night... I don't think they get a big crowd for Shabbat.
ReplyDeleteLet Cauthen turn the hearing into a campaign appearance for the Funkster. It'll be all about how the the Funk and the heroic members of the council cleared the "smoke and mirrors" out before responsibly tackling the next budget.
ReplyDeleteAnyone in the know KNOWS that Wayne hasn't and won't come clean with the budget and he had to go to begin to work the GIGANTIC mess out. It's uncertain if WC was actually corrupt, but he has definately been duplicitous re financial matters and the City can not deal with it anymore.
Lucky for the minority council (and 6th District) people that there were enough votes wothout them having to show any courage. Ed Ford is just a grandstander fronting for Mike Burke (who hoped to have WC still around for his agenda).
We know you're Gloria and you're fucking insane.
ReplyDeleteShoo.
Gloria could never write so sensibly.
ReplyDeleteThe squid could never write so sensibly.
ReplyDeleteGloria is insane but a hearing will only shoe that WC and his bro's are even dumber.
ReplyDeleteWhat the council did was against the Charter and against the City's ethics. They have been reprimanded in public and they should not continue their racist course of action. If they remove Mr. Cauthen they should do it the right way and not in secret.
ReplyDeleteWhy change the charter? and to do so requires 20% of the REGISTERED VOTERS in KC, not just the ones who actually gave a damn and voted in the last mayoral election. No Missouri judge is going to stoop so low as to override the city charter to keep funk'd from this mess. Why would they? funk'd is just going to make more poo on the floor, like his dog Maria. Why waste the energy for a damaged mayor? It's not like he has any credibility to protect. It's not like he has a small flame of hope to get re-elected.
ReplyDeleteLets have a BIG TRIAL get the Porn and the supposed payoffs out in the open. Talk about how he forgot to tell us about the building where he lived being a non preforming TIF.
ReplyDeleteThat is what he said He FORGOT>
I know you saw Cauthen on that Ethics Committee video. I couldn't stop watching it. Talk about a hot mess. He was incompetent and looked like an idiot. If we get more of that in a highly public hearing....sign me up. That would be awesome.
ReplyDeleteRace has no place in this discussion after seeing what I saw on that tape.....not to mention the memo where he said he wasn't involved but then was proven to be involved. He flat out lied to the council.
As long as they pay out his contract, what does cauthen really have to complain about?
ReplyDeleteHe can complain he's not getting as much money as Charlie Weis at Notre Dame ($18 million)
ReplyDeleteA BIG, BIG Trial to kickoff the second term of the orange revolution.
ReplyDeleteKeep dreaming Gloria.
ReplyDeleteAs a taxpayer, I would like that internal auditor pull all the Cauthen travel requests and expendatures charged to the City before the hearing. Match up sick leave usage and personal time charged to the City. This could be enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteThey should do that right after they investigate the Funkhouser campaign finances.
ReplyDeleteSacco, Funk's camaign finances are not the same as taxpayer dollars. If you donate to a candidate and don't like how he spends the money, just don't donate again. But the manager is spending MY money and I would like to know how he's spending it. How much vacation/sick leave did he take without claiming it, and of course, we'll never know, because who was checking him???? How many employees were laid off without a word of explanation, let alone a hearing. I'm a very disappointed taxpayer.
ReplyDeleteUnderstood. I just think the Mayor screwed this up and the whole council should agree to get Cauthen out. With Funkhouser at the helm any kind of unity is impossible. He is not a real leader.
ReplyDeleteCheck out Dottie in mayors office. Abuse of sick leave vacation time. She is a thief.
ReplyDeleteAnon 11:18, you are being ridiculous. The council did not in any way violate the charter or "ethics" (as you put it)in the way they removed Wayne Cauthen. WHO has reprimanded them... a bunch of "preachers" who race bait and whine when they don't get their way... and they are being totally pimped by Terry Riley, who is furious he was outmaneuvered on this. I don't know how much more in the open you can be by publicly removing the guy with a majority of the vote. It was not done in secret, it was not done based on race, and to suggest it was is total ignorance and/or race baiting.
ReplyDeleteCauthen was corrupt; he had to go. He was treated exactly the same way he treated Stan Barrett, Russ Widmar and several other department heads he forced out... some of those were not even allowed back in their offices to pick up their personal belongings! Cauthen is out; deal with it.
The only person who benefits if this hearing is held behind closed doors is Cauthen. He should be the last person who wants a public hearing. There is a laundry list of bad/corrupt deals he cut and handouts he passed out that could come back to bite him. If he ever wants to work in this hemisphere again, he should shut up, take his hefty severence, and leave town for good. Maybe some other municipality without Internet service or background checks will hire him. Go public with it, and no one will.

ReplyDeleteThe Black Clergy has the power and the money to step up to the plate to fight to keep an inept person in a position that is hurting the city and they don't give a shit about what is happening to the ambulance service in Kansas City. At the end of the day, we will have a new City Manager and a crappy fire run ambulance service that gives crappy care. When one of the Black Clergy's Mama is dying, they will regret that they do not have a first rate paramedic working on her. Fire is getting rid of the licenses the current paramedics hold so they are ' dumbing down' the system so all firefighters can do the work, after they replace the current MAST employees.
