The politics of leadership in the Kansas City's African-American Community have never been so convoluted.
Let's do our best to make sense of them . . . I'm not making any judgments here and I'm actually interested to see the conclusion that TKC readers reach on Spark Bookhart but there's been A LOT of talk circulating about the guy in Kansas City political circles.
Here's the Kansas City rumor, scuttlebutt and chatter:
DOES THIS MEAN THAT OBAMA SUPPORTS THE CRAPPY STATE OF KANSAS CITY SCHOOLS?!?!?!
More importantly, does Obama oppose wide-spread efforts to change the KC School District? Because that seems to be the stance taken by his Missouri Deputy Field Director.
And all of this isn't as important as the most troubling accusations now circulating through Kansas City political circles when it comes to Mr. Bookhart:
KICKASS TKC TIPSTERS CLAIM THAT SPARK HAS USED AND IS CONTINUING TO USE OBAMA PAID-FOR RESOURCES (i.e. lists and volunteers) IN SUPPORT OF MAYOR FUNKY, HAND'S OFF AND NOW THE NEW TOOLS INITIATIVE!!!
So, if this dude is going around town representing Obama - Then it's kind of important to know where he's coming from as well . . . This post has detailed Bookhart's support of Mayor Funky and the School Board - Two causes/issues/disasters that most Obama supporters haven't really wanted to associate with . . . And all of this sheds a little light on the weird feeling that a great many protesters shared after Bookhart's stunt at The Mayor's house on Thursday night.
In the final analysis, nobody really knows where Spark Bookhart stands . . . But a great many people are talking.
Damn fine post son.
ReplyDeleteI think Sparky's 15 minutes of fame and influence is just about over.
ReplyDeleteI think that Bookhart #1 cause is himself. What a clown.
Typical loudmoufed big-noggery from Spook.
ReplyDeletemake that nig-noggery, dang it!!
ReplyDeleteBlack is GOOD, white is BAD...
ReplyDeleteSpark, what the Hell?
ReplyDeleteI thought he couldn't organize a shopping trip? Its a bit much to tie him to Obama.
ReplyDeleteWell I don't consider browsing somebody's website as anything akin to a 'formal investigation'.. but I'll report on what I know based on what I saw.
ReplyDeleteFirst, the tone of Alonzo Washington's site is unprofessional and overly defensive. I can see how he pisses people off to the point they might not want to mention him. Maybe he's just a gadfly that got lucky with Precious, I don't know. but one success does not a 'community organizer' make.
Second. The black united front website. First, it wasn't ready for prime time...and I saw no indication from it that it's actually a 'group'. Looks more like one guy with a lot of time on his hands. The NAACP is a GROUP. The NRA is a GROUP.
If the Black United Front wants to be a GROUP, they'll collect enough money to incorporate, get a board of civic leaders. Today, you can start a website, print up some letterhead and business cards and declare yourself "IMPORTANT."
I don't know the playuhs... but based on your post, Tony... you overstate. I'm sure there's lot of politics in the black community, just like there is in the white community, in any university community, even in any high school.
Discussing one website and somebody who cut his teeth in presidential politics isn't what I'd call 'making sense'... of 'convoluted black leadership'.
Most people probably dont even know the guy. If he's trying to stand next to Obama to get some of Obama's cool to rub off on him, well he wouldn't be the first playuh to try to get street cred off of a big name.
Look how many tried to get some of MLK's cred!
My view is that if you take somebody who's a nobody and give him publicity, it's YOU who make him a somebody and I'm sure he loves that. Said a TV boss I once had, "doesn't matter what they say about you, so long as they get your call letters right when they say it."
I've noticed "black community" which aren't part of the government structure, have lots of 'leaders.' Many are often self appointed, and a way to get some cred in the hood without actually having any money.
The real leaders don't have do all that. I'm sure Gates is a leader. As is Cleaver, and others. Some running churches. Some businessmen. yes, even a school board member or two. But youre not going to sort out "community leadership" with that little post, Tony.
You'll need to leave your basement if you intend to do that and so in this case, I think you bit off way more than you can chew, just talking about THIS nobody.
There's PLAYERS and there's PLAYUHS. Don't fall for the games played by the ones that just go out on slow newsday Sundays with protest signs after calling the TV stations.
It shows you how low class this spark idiot is. Claims Obama heritage when in fact the idiot was central to Obama losing MO.
ReplyDeleteI bought some drugs from Spark once. I she still dealing?
