Surprise!!! It's Middle-Class White People who ruined Kansas City's Economy!!!

Here's just a quick thought for the afternoon . . .

PAYING FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT AND LIFESTYLE OF UPPER-MIDDLE-CLASS WHITE PEOPLE HAS NEARLY BANKRUPTED KANSAS CITY!!!

Proof:

  • The P&L District failure the is most obvious indication that counting on only white-middle-class party people to save Kansas City was a horrible idea. The district crushed other downtown businesses, enacted racially divisive dress code policy and now (as TKC foretold) one business is gone and a few more are soon to follow. ADDITIONALLY, P&L DISTRICT DEBT, FINANCING SCHEMES AND BOND PROBLEMS ARE KILLING THIS TOWN'S ECONOMY IN THE MIDDLE OF A FINANCIAL CRISIS!!!

  • Kansas City chased away a great many downtown residents and businesses in order to build condos . . . Then the housing market collapsed . . . High Priced Condos remain empty while affordable housing is even harder to find. Catering to the fickle Condo class has put this town far behind and led a great man real estate people into ruin . . . Which is only kinda funny.

  • The last remaining JoCo people who can afford to go to sporting events still love the Chiefs and the Royals . . . Even better: Because of the Stadium Tax, Jackson County is picking up the tab for entertainment and has seen very little in return . . . Not even bragging rights for two of the worst teams in professional sports.

  • Clearly, Tin Cup Urbanism didn't work out for Kansas City . . . Reactionaries often point to high crime and brown people as the root cause of the kind of urban failure that this cowtown if facing. Nothing could be further from reality. Currently, Kansas City is now confronted with high property taxes and the prospect of cutting back on police in order to pay for the posh parties that have failed to benefit this town's bottom line.

    1. So you prefered the way it was before huh? Nothing going on downtown, no services.

      Good thinking.

It is so typical for people to want every problem solved in the amount of time it takes to watch a rerun of "Friends". It will take a little longer than that.

I like the direction downtown is heading with a long term perspective......when my kids are grown and gone I think I'll move there if I can afford it.

    2. JoCo guy is right. You've got to think in the long term. This recession can't last forever.

      At least I hope not.

    3. There's more affordable housing than ever these days. What ARE you talking about?

    4. Without the stadiums, arena, P&L district and new condos KCMO would be an even bigger joke that it is now.

T, if you wait a little bit (a year or two) you are going to find that the denizens of the high priced housing will be moving down a notch and the owners/landlords of the high priced housing stock will be all out to find middle and low middle income occupants and will price the inventory of real estate accordingly. Not many owners can hold out against the tide so if the market isn't there and it starts to crash, you will find as much affordable housing as your two roaming eyes can take in :)

    6. Really, this is pretty short-sighted. In a couple years P&L will probably be a good investment.

It's sort of like ejaculating in a girl's ass versus on her face. If you do it on her face, you have something nice to look at. If you come in her ass, all you have is a memory.

    7. Tony KC. Supporter of dump bars, crotch holders and female hasslers strikes again. Oh and the phony racial posturing is getting old. Haven't you heard we have a new President and racism posturing is DONE!

Tony you're a rif raf skank or at least you like acting like one...I haven't figured it out yet.

At least you were right on light rail and the chicks on the site are top notch. Keep them on here and I'll continue to come into this idiosy several times per day (no matter how stupid your racial shit is).

    8. Someone should have tony go find out how it happened that Johnson county stole all the business out of kansas city and built a while new city south of 95th and west of Antioch.

I myself got $3000 of advanced education courtesy of Topeka as one of many rewards for my company moving from the Mo side westward and southward to JOCO.

Companies created College Boulevard because it was in their best interest to do so. It wasnt because they wanted to be close to Troost and prospect where most of the action is.

Actually, Tony it IS middle class and upper class white people who make cities thrive. No need for all this pee see crap you utter. All lies and everyone knows it.

Minorities who manage to make middle class livings do what? They move to the suburbs. Course they don't live free in their mom's basement. They have income. They have choices. And they move to where the good schools are so their kids will grow up prepared for working in JOCO, rather than slingin BBQ or drugs in the innercity.

People work very hard to lift themselves up. Some get a boost from their parents and some don't. Those who don't just have to do more heavy lifting. And those who do get a boost but dont' take advantage, well they end up being assistant managers eventually in retail. Or riding the back of trash trucks in designer basketball shorts.

Now that's the funniest thing I've read on this website in weeks.

    10. KC Marauder thanks for the compliment.
I have decided to identify myself as 9to10 in the future. Anonymous sucks.

I will be back ...usually around 9to10... to compliment Tony on the visuals (chicks...wish they were niked) and to kick his ass on the racism, anti growth, anti achievement, anti suburbs bs he spews.

I'll also be kind enough to compliment him when he earns it such as when spews re PaPa Wayne and the Light Rail to oblivion.

    12. Tony sounds jealous to me. Development is good overall and there needs to be more entertainment options in Kansas City. That creates revenue and jobs.

      ReplyDelete
    13. Entertainment options provided by Cordish for the most part create $10 an hour jobs. In exchange we send them MILLIONS of dollars.

Development is good, overall... for Cordish.

    14. The problem with downtown KC development was that is started too late. While other cities were on the move and have rebuilt and overhauled their downtowns two or three times KC sat on the sidelines arguing about which direction to go and who was going to get the kickbacks. So we had to play catch up and do it all at once. Just so happen we completed it just as the economy was taking a downturn. Really the best thing would have been for the city to continue to build on the seeds it planted in Quality Hill way back in the late 80s and early 90s and the overhaul of the River Market followed by the resurgence of the Crossroad district thanks to the arts community. We have the same problem with light rail. We should have done it years ago when money was flowing out of Washington for it rather than letting the Kempers and such cut it down. It too would have helped the natural, not forced, rebuildng of downtown. But now the developers are right it would be more disruptive to the businesses they are trying to build to build the thing.

    15. The City of Kansas City still gives $2,000,000.00 --yes TWO MILLION --yes GIVES no strings attached 2 Million Dollars to the "teams". It is still in this budget that we are all worried about. It is a line item with no ballot measure ever submitted to substantiate it.
In other words it is given because someone years and years ago slipped it into the budget and NO ONE has the cajones to say NO.

      ReplyDelete
    16. Interesting that you do not understand "how it happened that Johnson county stole all the business out of kansas city."
IT IS CALLED THE E TAX. Why work in KC if you can get the company to move to Beige County and not pay the E TAX

    17. Oh leave Tony alone!

Tony lives in the basement of his Mommy's house and has no life except to stir up shit with everyone and everything he dislikes. And try as he may he's not much of a writer either. He's always using the word "internets" in plural form in place of "internet." This blog is the only thing in his life he has to cling to, So leave the poor thing alone!!
