As usual, the self-congratulatory Kansas City Star thinks that adding a horizontal menu is a substitute for a decent web strategy.
Nevertheless . . . I've heard nothing but complaints regarding The Star's new minor website adjustments.
Here are the top concerns:
It's harder to leave comments. The Star has decided that reader input isn't that valuable and their comment count has seriously declined. This actually, might be a good decision on their news site . . . But on their blogs it makes no sense. However, overall it simply reflect the fact that most people at The Star don't care about any opinion but their own.
Why won't they fire Mary Sanchez?
Ah, and the image featured above sent in by an AWESOME TKC READER notes the screw-ups like the weird ass negative image of Mike Hendrics are far more apparent on The Star's website as of late . . . Their reputation for accuracy is being challenged every day by bloggers and Internet denizens who have screen capture capabilities. OR, Mike Hendricks might just be really mad that his horrible writing and opinions are commonly referred to (in my basement) as "the discharge of Johnson County."
On the bright side, there are definite signs of on-line improvement for this town's paper-of-record but most of them are tantamount to nothing more than a fancy blogger redesign.
So which "anonymous" comment will come from a Star employee? In 3....2...1..
ReplyDeleteI think it's a horizontal menu.
ReplyDeleteI think the redesign, though minor, is a big improvement. Articles are cleaner, easier to read and the images don't look awful, as they did on the old site.
ReplyDeleteI think that when the ship started slipping under the water that they sent out a memo DO SOMETHING even if it is badly designed and wrong.
ReplyDeleteIt was probably redesigned by the web people who did INK.
ReplyDeleteYou are no one to complain about The Star's accuracy Tony. Your site is riddled with errors and untruths. Your relentless attacks against the Mayor and his wife have really made this city a worse place to live. Criticizing the star? Pot meet kettle.
ReplyDeleteregardless of how you feel about the redesign, the funny thing here is that the site has an error of mike hendricks's head shot showing up in negative, making him look evil and spooky. as of a few minutes ago it's still up
