Here's the top 10 falsehoods and misleading statements that Mayor Funky and the Gloria Squitiro tried to pull on Kansas City last night along with a few other things I noticed in their Talkback live appearance.
1. I'll brake this one down "You can't handle the truth style!" The basic premise of the argument that Ms. Squitiro isn't the Co-Mayor was subverted by her presence on the show. If she isn't such an influential figure in the Mayor's office, THEN WHY IS SHE DOING INTERVIEWS WITH THE MAYOR? Her mere appearance everywhere that Funkhouser goes is a contradiction of their misleading statements. Viewers picked up on as much.
2. Independence loves Mayor Funky. All of his Kansas City calls were critical. People had real problems with real issues. Racial division, Three Trails, the Consequences of Mammy-gate . . . The only thing suburbanites have to offer is mindless and uninformed cheerleading. It's not very refreshing to have a Kansas City's Mayor governing for the people outside of KC Proper.
3. I liked Gloria's new haircut. Honestly, she looked nice - Like a New York socialite - She seemed more comfortable in front of the camera than either of the two dudes . . . Probably because she took off her shoes.
4. Steve Rose stood in front of Mayor Funky and told him what all of his advisers and acolytes have been afraid to mention. Regional light rail isn't going to work. Rose did all of the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan Area a favor by stating the obvious and maybe saving a lot of time and money. Mayor Funky, stubbornly, seemed to refuse to listen. The fact that Squitiro thinks Kansas City is so close to light rail shows how out of touch Funkhouser's Mayoral Administration has become . . . They really have to start reading somebody besides Abouhalkah.
5. Mammy-gate hounds the Mayor. Funkhouser simply lied about the case. The EEOC complaint DOES CONCERN THE USE OF RACIAL SLURS. TKC reported as much along with The Star. Funkhouser simply lied on this issue, which he miserably tried to explain away with the "mam-ee" nonsense previously on Shanin and Parks. This isn't a savvy political move . . . It's just spreading falsehoodd and working against a good person who didn't deserve that kind of treatment from an unsanctioned volunteer in the Mayor's office.
6. Funk avoids eye contact - I hear that's a big thing with white dudes. He looked down to answer questions and it makes him look weak and shady . . . Almost as much has his refusal to answer direct questions.
7. Mayor Funkhouser and Squitiro visibly froze up every time someone said "Happy Holidays" LOL!!! I knew the prostate letter wouldn't be a direct question but clever Kansas City callers found a way to subliminally remind the first couple that they put this town through a really gross TMI situation. Bravo people of KC!!! You make me proud.
8. Funkhouser claimed that "they asked her to be there" when referring to the La Raza/Semler controversy. Semler may have asked for her presence but no one on the Latino Task Force wanted her around . . . In fact, several members asked that the Mayor's wife stay home from the negotiations. This was just an(other) outright lie which anyone vaguely associated with the controversy could uncover.
9. They still say "we" when talking about the Mayor's office. Nobody elected "We" they publicly say there is no "We" when talking about the role of Mayor and then they use "We" again and again.
10. The "desk outside of the office" got bigger and bigger as the interview went on, in fact, it's clear that Ms. Squitiro dominates every discussion with the Mayor in a away that has alienated his supporters. The Mayor's own people are turning against him . . . City Hall insiders have heard the rumors of the term "She speaks for me" and were likely shocked to hear Funkhouser admit he said as much. This phrase has lost the Mayor more than a few friends and it will ultimately cost him any credibility if he can't change course soon . . . Nobody, nobody in Kansas City wants a Co-Mayor and there isn't a single person in this town that's willing to stand up for Gloria Squitiro's unsanctioned and unprecedented role. Funkhouser stubbornly tries to explain that "he's just being honest" about the role of his spouse but NEVER BEFORE has a political significant other almost single handedly destroyed the perception of reform and the rep of this town's Mayor.
There's no argument anymore, it was on KCPT for everyone to see . . .
KANSAS CITY HAS A CO-MAYOR!!!
I won't belabor the point that TKC coined the term but I will note that the reality of this situation is a first in modern Kansas City political history.
Finally, if you're interested here's some background info on that first, photoshopped, sexy, big lady advert here's some links on that as well because big booty women are still more important than politics:

The fact that Funk kept his head down throughout the entire interview speaks volumes. Rose went back and forth, he would try to throw out a hard hitting question, but he never really followed through. I guess I was hoping for more depth. Instead it was what you would expect from a third rate hack on public TV.
ReplyDeleteGood point miscreant. You're right about Rose.
ReplyDeleteBoy am I glad I aerated my lawn this fall. Instead of a swampy mess in my back yard the water is getting down to the roots.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to whey her curds, if you know what I mean.
ReplyDeleteP.S. What's up with the post below the picture? Very distracting
I have to say, Gloria has spoiled my love affair with the Funk. Out of the way beeyotch!
ReplyDeletesomeone needs to get Funkhouser an appointment with Cordell & Cordell or else he should resign..
ReplyDeleteI like drug dealers better than them. There has to be something seriously wrong at the mayor's house. The man is not his own person. Your sick role playing games are plain ugly. What works in bed is not working downtown. both go home!
ReplyDeleteIs there any video of the interview online?
ReplyDeleteYes suburbanites do like Funkhouser. They also have jobs, don't commit crimes, don't do drugs or sponge off successful people. Their cities are comparatively well run.
ReplyDeleteThe anti Funk people have been running KC into the ground for thirty years and it shows. Most suburban people do want KC to improve and do care about the underclass. They just realize the poverty pimps never accomplish anything.
Those yogurt ads are funny. Brazilians don't like fatty-fatty boom-booms either I guess.
ReplyDeletesuburban people just drive downtown to buy their drugs and the return to the burbs...
ReplyDeleteSomebody get this woman away from City Hall. Please.
ReplyDeletewill this madness never end or have i just been looped into a 24/7twilight zone experience?
ReplyDeletei voted for the damn guy twice, did campaign work and had an orange sign in my yard (used it later to beat oppossum-which much like our mayor refused to yield-) however, never expected this debacle......after the the xmas letter and all the snafus before-what fresh hell can i expect.
