Cindy Circo: "I was under the impression that these were good faith negotiations."

Blog CCP documents the 5th District Council Member making an inspiring explanation of her decision. Here's the money line: "This issue is not about the Mayor. And it is not about Mr. Cauthen. It's an issue that gets at the very core of the council-manager form of government and I believe that was threatened by the Mayor's actions earlier this week. My vote was cast on behalf of the citizens of Kansas City in order to protect our charter, our form of government, and yes, our democracy."

  1. Yes, protecting and fighting for men who make $300,000 per year is the cornerstone of our democracy and freedom. Go, Cindy!!!

  3. She's toast. Her (and the Mayor's) support came from up north. Freedom Inc. won't give a rat's behind about this when they drag some "community leader" out to run against her in 2011.

Northland remembers people who pay us lip service. That goes for you Ms. Jolly. Showing up and shaking hands at business events will only get you the 100 bankers or attorneys that have the time to attend those events.

If you were going to hire someone to argue and fight for your side, I would take Ms. Hermann over the hairdresser or Charlie's Angels.

I can't figure out if Gottstein or Jolly is Jaclyn Smith or Kate Jackson nor if Marcasson is Farrah Fawcett or Cheryl Ladd. Tony may have that figured out. It would be a good excuse to post pictures of those babes.

  5. Great comment Councilwoman Circo. You are doing an amazing job. You hit the nail on the head. This mayor is out of control and needs to be checked. It's no surprise that Deb Hermann, Bill Skaggs and Russ Johnson all support that guy as two of them spend most of their time kissing his ass.

  6. The issue is not the power of the mayor, but an out of control council. They are protecting us- they just wiped the charter with their rears! Here is what is actually says...

    (b) Appointment. The Mayor and Council shall jointly conduct a search or recruitment for a City Manager upon terms agreed upon by the Mayor and Council. Upon completion of this process the Mayor shall be responsible for submitting a resolution to the Council for the appointment of a City Manager. If an appointment is not approved, the Mayor may submit another person for consideration, or may ask that a search or recruitment process begin anew.

  9. We'll see if she thinks the same after 2 years on the council.

It took Jim Rowland 1 year to decide there isn't any democracy in Kansas City.

  10. as a former city employee i cant understand for the life of me why the city can give 10000 dollar raise when we have employees living on food stamps that get a measeely 3 percent raise if the city manager really care about his job he would try to get his employees off of food stamps. as far as im concerned they need to recall all 9 of the council that voted for this 3 year contract giving him a raise of 10000 dollars a year.

  11. The section of the charter deals with the appointment of a new city manager. We already have a city manager and he has not been fired. His contract is terminated but until April 30, his contract is still valid.
The charter says "mayor shall be responsible for submitting a resolution."
Funkhouser says he won't do that. Does that mean that he is ignoring that responsibility?
He is toast. He has no legal case.
