Will Gloria and poor communication with minorities ruin Mayor Funky?

By now you've heard that an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) complaint has been filed against Mayor Funky's office.

Apparently, we can't all just get along.

Officially, the complaint is regarding salary. Officially, the Mayor's office has declined any comment other than to say that "The charge concerns salary, which is always challenging in the public sector" and "We take this matter very seriously and are working diligently to resolve it in an expeditious manner."

What isn't being reported is that the complaint might not be just about salary.

For months rumors have been swirling around City Hall regarding the behavior and unprofessional demeanor of the Mayor's wife . . . And those complaints don't just concern her big feet!!!

It's been awhile since the Mayor's office in Kansas City has been home to so much yelling and divisive behavior.

It doesn't help that the Mayor seems play favorites when handing out paychecks and allowing his old buddy Ed Wolf to double dip and collect $250k from City Hall - A GIGANTIC PAYCHECK FOR THAT JOB - didn't seem to help matters to much.

But I've heard that it was Gloria's (now infamous) abusive and unprofessional attitude that's really making life a living Hell for so many people in her path.

Obviously, any EEOC complaint is going to be pretty closely guarded - So it'll be awhile before the public has the facts. I only hope the Mayor's people don't make this situation worse with "retaliation" that can be proven so easily and is always tempting . . . But the speculation is already out there with a vengeance. A lot of folks believe that it was Gloria, not salary or not even Mayor Funky's dour demeanor that brought on this complaint and has lead to so much discord among Mayor Funky's closest fans.

  1. You obviously don't know what you're talking about Tony. And I don't know why you see fit to post photos of Paris Hilton on completely unrelated subjects. Is this supposed to be comedy?

  3. I started out thinking Funk was the ticket for a revitalized Kansas City. Now not so much. I still think he was a better choice than Brooks, because Brooks has zero experience.
Lately it seems that the local news reports some new controversy involving our mayor. It is slowly becoming evident that Funk lacks the one thing any good politician must have, and that is the ability to compromise. Im starting to actually agree with TKC that the Mayor aint all he was cracked up to be. Controversy at every turn is bad for the city as a whole. I think Funk is headed to being a one term wonder.

  5. Methinks you don't know what you're talking about again Tony and why should anyone trust what a disgruntled employee has to say?

  6. It's Gloria. It has always been Gloria.

Look at the major Missteps of Mayor Funkhouser's campaign and they all lead back to her:

The Honda Hybrid Sponsorship deal was set up by Gloria.

Gloria appointed Semler not the Mayor

Gloria has a really abrasive style, I wouldn't go so far as to call it unprofessional but she certainly ruffles a lot of feathers. The problem is that she doesn't have any experience in order to back her up and that often leads to friction.

The only way to really blame the Mayor in this instance is the fact he hasn't taken steps to scale back her presence.

He simply won't pay any attention to people who have a problem with her attending every meeting and literally standing over his shoulder during office hours.

  7. THIS IS A JOKE BLOG. DON'T PAY ANY ATTENTION TO IT.

  8. Look at the record of complaints filed at EEOC for City Hall.

It's mostly blacks filing against whites.

Odds are it's some Black the Mayor has pissed off. I guess the Alivin Brooks people aren't going to let it go that their guy lost.

Tony's just going along for the ride.

  9. I think you're overestimating the importance of an EEOC complaint.

Most people with real jobs just ignore them like the Mayor should do with this one.

    Bwahahahahahaha! LOL!

  10. I hear it's a black woman complaiting about Gloria.

    ReplyDelete
  11. But I thought Black women loved white men nowadays?

Or is this just another sister looking for a handout?

  12. Will you please give it up Tony. The Mayor isn't going to make Semler resign not matter how much you complain.

  13. Not important.

  14. So when we get a ballot initiative to recall Funky passed, will the council just vote to repeal that, too? I hope Chastain and others sue the stuffing out of the city.

  15. I'm fine with Funkhouser. I voted for him. I don't like his stance on Frances Semler and I think he needs keep going after corporate Tif.

But I think he should leave his wife at home. I never knew she would have such a prominent role in his administration or that she would be an adviser. She might be a nice woman, I don't believe everything I read on the Internet but she is unqualified to hold such a high position and I did not vote for her.

  16. Get a life Funk fan. Don't fall for the bullshit of a joke blog.

  17. As a black professional, I can't wait to get out of KC. I'd like to live in a city where other races are respected. "Handouts", "jungle fever", "some Black", in response to a serious issue? Classy. Real Classy.

Thanks for proving the stereotype of Midwesterners true.

  18. I can't believe there hasn't been an official complaint against Yoko Squitiro before now. Earlier this year, Evert Asjes said Gloria wasn't obtuse, she would catch on. This hasn't and is not going to happen. Does anyone remember Gloria saying, "Thanks for voting for us?" How telling that was. Gloria needs to stay home

  19. If you thought Funkhouser was stubborn about Semler. Don't even think about talking about his wife.

Really, the Star tried to make in issue out of her behavior a couple months ago and it got them nowhere. He won't budge or think of asking her to go home and he gets mad whenever the subject comes up no matter how much it is merited.

  20. And why did The Star stop?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Why did the Star stop? Perhaps for legal reasons? Perhaps some bloggers ought to consider the same thing?

  22. Tony you're going to learn an important lesson that you should never talk badly about another man's wife. You're just begging for trouble and I will be laughing when you're finally taken out to the woodshed.

    ReplyDelete
  23. The only legal liability concerning the topic of Gloria relates to the state's anti-nepotism laws, which is why she cannot receive compensation from the city. She is not supposed to be there and Funkhouser is breaking the spirit of the law by keeping her there.
