TKC EXCLUSIVE: Blunt's Chief of Staff says any gathering of Latino workers "probably" includes illegal aliens
This is a story that is soon to break in other media outlets and CLEARLY DEMONSTRATES THAT GOV. BLUNT'S EFFORTS TO CRACK DOWN ON ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION ARE AIMED AT RACIALLY PROFILING LATINOS IN MISSOURI.
Apparently, Ed Martin - Gov. Blunt's Chief of Staff - has stirred a lot of angry letters and sentiments because of comments he made in an August 17th meeting in front of the Missouri Housing Development Commission (MHDC).
When speaking about workforce immigration policy, Martin reportedly said:
"I'll tell you what's available to every developer in order to figure out who's illegal. When there's a bunch of Mexicans out there, there's probably some of them who are not legal."
For some of you this might not be a big deal but what it means for any Latinos working in the construction field is that they are RACIALLY PROFILED SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY'RE WORKING A CONSTRUCTION JOB!!!
Anti-immigration opponents don't want Latinos to speak Spanish. Fine, my mastery of the language is at a 4th grade level anyway.
Reactionaries refuse to listen when Latinos express their concern about vigilante groups gaining access to City Hall. Cool. Ignore the Latino constituency in Kansas City but remember that Mayor Funkhouser pandered to La Raza when he wanted into office.
However, IT'S SIMPLY UNACCEPTABLE TO DEPICT ANY AND EVERY GROUP OF LATINO LABORERS AS CRIMINALS SIMPLY BECAUSE OF THEIR ETHNICITY OR THEIR LINE OF WORK. And this statement from the Blunt Administration shows that their efforts are aimed against Latinos and even Latino CITIZENS who simply want to WORK and will subsequently be the target of a racist initiative to rid the state of illegals while consequently treating every Latino like a criminal.
Sadly, Blunt has failed on health care, education and jobs and his last cynical effort to stir up any kind of support is to use immigration as a wedge issue.
I don't know why, but I think people of Missouri are smarter than to believe that a Governor who has failed on so many fronts deserves another term in office simply because he panders to a small ANTI-LATINO contingent that claims to work against illegal immigration but really seeks to crack down on the growing power, influence and number of Latino CITIZENS in Missouri.
Wow. Governor Blunt's staff have reached an all new low. This is sick and pathetic. I will be voting against him next year.
ReplyDeleteI will not be voting for Governor Blunt or his racist social class elitest mentality.
ReplyDeleteJust don't cut my lawn so low next time or you'll be deported.
ReplyDeleteyawn.
ReplyDeleteIs your mom picking all the blog stories now?
That's a pretty good scoop Tony. The thing is, I don't support illegal immigration and I think there should be some kind of reform to make it more manageable yet I can easily see through Matt Blunt's race baiting.
ReplyDeleteYou're right. He has completely failed when it's come to affordable healthcare in Missouri and now he's looking for a scapegoat.
What part of "illegal" do you not understand??? Is it okay to kill someone because you don't consider it "illegal?"
ReplyDeleteThis is our country. Stay in your own country and try to fix the shithole.
So is it okay to kill an illegal?
ReplyDelete5:34 La Raza is made up of U.S. citizen it's their country too.
I thinking Homeland Security has something to do with this.
ReplyDeleteMissouri what happened to the Republican party that I used to be part of? What happened to the Republican party that I would like to be part of? Why did we let Blunt and Company turn us into the party that attacks brown people and accents? Most all Immigrants are good religious and moral people that put family before everyone else. Who gave this governor and his snakes permission to attack them?
ReplyDeleteAn attack on religious, moral, family loving people is an attack on Missouri. This isn't about immigration this is about racism and bottom of the barrel politicians ruining our party. This conservative wants racist Ed Martin gone with a public apology from the governor or I will be voting Democrat in '08 and my friends with me.
"Missouri what happened to the Republican party that I used to be part of?"
ReplyDeleteIt never existed. The republican party has been exactly as it is since the 60s - anti-brown. You've just come in late on the third act to a three act play.
They have been anti-brown but not this much since before the civil rights movement. Eventhough I voted GOP because I thought we moved passed that, I'm not going to be part of any group that is lobbying for Jim Crow type politics. Same goes for this Governor and his racist staff.
ReplyDeletewondering how many of laraza is legal. is tony and his mom legal
