Since Kanye West accused Bush of not caring about Black people after the Hurricane Katrina debacle I’ve been sticking it to the man at nearly every opportunity. Lately, I’ve been going around accusing everyone of racial insensitivity. My sister won’t give me a ride to the grocery store: She doesn’t care about Black people. My Grandma won’t answer the phone in less than 17 rings: It’s because she doesn’t care about Black people. Some douchebag gives my girlfriend a dirty look at the movies: He doesn’t care about Black people.
Well, even a broken clock is right twice a day. And it turns out KCPT talk show host Nick Haines wonders why anybody should care about all of the murders east of Troost. Now, obviously this has nothing to do with the fact that KCPT is the voice of the local Black community as evidenced by their broadcast of Masterpiece Theater and the Antiques Road show. We all know how much those programs mean to minorities everywhere.
Surprisingly, this crass question from Haines makes me wonder why that limey bastard is even hosting a program about Kansas City. Unless I’m soon to get a TV show deal to talk about the Queen’s dirty britches it just doesn’t make sense. Does anybody believe that this bald, Eurotrash guy knows anything about the history or the people of this town? Maybe I’ve got this wrong, maybe his mom spread for some American GI’s during WWII and his Daddy is really from Waldo but I doubt it. Obviously, all Nick Haines really cares about is finding the hair that has abandoned his head and tap dancing for KC’s chattering class. And yet, I’m always surprised that anybody gives a fuck about what he thinks or bothers to tune into his boring, insignificant talk show.
