Corwin blames bad schools for murders

To accomplish Corwin's goal, Bolton said inner-city schools have to get better.

"The message we send to our young people is that we're willing to spend more money to incarcerate you than we'll spend to educate you," Bolton said.

And I rate this 7.5 for passing the buck. Good effort, lots of enthusiasm but ultimately far-fetched. I know that Latinos in KC have horrible dropout rates. Black people regularly outperform Latinos in terms of academics in KC. But sadly, they also overachieve when it comes to violent crimes and murders as well. Additionally, think of all the 3rd world countries that are comprised of nothing but poor people with no educational opportunities whatsoever and they still don’t kill each other at the rate achieved in this country.

This statement by Corwin is nothing more than a cheap attempt to take some of the burden of this problem off his shoulders. Nice try, but as KC’s Chief peacekeeper there’s no way you don’t share some of the blame. Besides, Corwin can’t do anything about the situation with KC schools. His mention of this fact is simply a ploy to make us believe that he is also powerless to prevent violence in KC. Sorry, but if Corwin can’t hack it, maybe somebody else can.
